Seasonal Shift 005 - Alfred Czital

Local selector and Horoom resident Dito Chikovani delivers a perfect dose of blissful house for Bassiani Podcast 180. His trade is intimate and done by feeling, mood being key to his dancefloor dialogues, no doubt helped by an impeccable taste for records that lends a hint of the unexpected to his work on the decks. This modus operandi naturally extends to this next instalment: patient, confidently shapeshifting through space and time, communicating through progressive rhythms, sultry melodies and deeper interludes. This one’s a live recording from the Bassiani season closing night back in July when he took over opening duties just ahead of DJ Masda. Close to three hours packed with uplifting beats and dreamy synths for balmy summer nights.

S:S 014 comes from Italian/Albanian artist Brad Alloc. 

We came across his mixes after hearing them on a long car journey to a festival last year from what can only be described as a cosmic serendipitous link up with Brad's aka Stiven's best friend.  Being treated to at least 4 of his mixes on our trip, we were impressed with his fluid, genre hopping style, and his ability to weave together ambient, IDM, deep techno and trance in a unique, lucid and hypnotic way - both rhythmically and texturally. 

A regular on Radio Raheem in Milan with his Biocybernetics show, Stiven is also a lover of the outdoors, and is responsible for the aptly named Mycelium forest parties in the mountains of North West Italy that he puts on with his OOM collective.

Der Mix ist etwas eklektischer von den Tempi und vermutlich schon spürbar dunkler und zackiger, als meine letzten Mixe. In Gedanken war ich beim Aufnehmen irgendwie schon viel bei euch auf Trakt 1 und 3 unterwegs, geplant war das allerdings nicht…
 
The mix varies a little more with the speeds and I guess it also got a bit darker and uptempo than my previous recordings. Apparently while recording the mix I’ve been more present at floor 1 and 3 in the IFZ, somehow this got out of my control.
 
// Wie würdest du deine Verbindung zu Leipzig & zum IfZ beschreiben? 
// How would you describe your connection to Leipzig and IfZ ? 

Als eine sehr enge. In Leipzig habe ich lange gelebt und dort u.a. auch mit dem Auflegen angefangen. Generell hat mich die Stadt in meinem Zugang zu elektronischer Musik und Clubkultur deutlich geprägt. Das IFZ ist da auf jeden fall mehr als beispielhaft, jedoch nicht nur als Club-Institution - ich denke da auch an die früheren IFZ-Zeiten, als der ursprüngliche Kern damals illegale Open Airs und Partys in alten Fabriken und anderen abwegigen Orten organisiert hatte. 
 
As a very close one. I lived in Leipzig for quite some time and also started DJing there. In general the city had a very essential imprint on my approach to electronic music and club culture. The IFZ played a big role for me too, however not just as an institution as a club - I’m also thinking back to the early times when the primary collective had been realising many memorable open airs and illegal partys in old fabrics and other abandoned places.
