Episode 35 of the DRD podcast series has landed and we sincerely hope y'all staying safe and sound out there while the world continues to turn upside down. Just like most communities and businesses we have also been affected by regulations and personal measures in order to protect our own well-being. Hence slowing down our output of content is the result of recognizing our own boundaries and caring for one another.
Having said this we happily invite you to a 160 bpm deep dive alongside our endorser of today's issue: @maltin-worf, who takes keen-witted listeners on a playful journey of changing styles starting off with dystopian textures that unfold into head nod-inducing bass-heavy beats. Following along eerie soundscapes, you will find yourself in the midst of minimalistic jungle sounds just before entering the downright half-step territory.
This rollercoaster of emotions proceeds throughout the mix while Maltin showcases an outstanding feel for consistently mesmerizing ambience. The Defrostatica affiliate is associated with jungle, footwork, dubstep, and wonky hip-hop infected bass music. He plays live shows, already put out a handful of smashing releases and we are stoked to welcome him into the ranks of our show. A 140 Budapest egy Facebook-csoportként indult 2016-ban, amelynek célja a dubstep, grime, drill, bass music és minden egyéb kapcsolódó műfaj hazai rajongóinak összefogása. A csoport tagjai között számos ismert producer és feltörekvő tehetség felbukkant, így adta magát az ötlet, hogy érdemes lenne zenéiket megmutatni ezen fórumon keresztül. 2020 végén Bergi és Vrama elindította a közösséggel azonos nevű ‘140 Budapest’ válogatás projektet, amelyre végül 45 pályamű érkezett, és ezek közül 12 track került fel a végleges anyagra. A válogatás fő kurátora és minőség-ellenőre a világszerte ismert DJ Madd, akinek zenéi többek közt a Tru Thoughts, Black Box, Dub-Stuy és Cosmic Bridge címkéken jelentek meg. Külön érdekesség, hogy a további munkák is crowdfunding-jelleggel szerveződtek, így a mastering, grafika, logo és póló design is a csoport tagjainak köszönhető. Kilenc zenész számaival indul a 140 Budapest válogatás sorozat, melyben helyet kaptak mély, meditatív darabok, törzsi elemekkel tűzdelt számok, grime-os hatású zenék és további izgalmak - fogadjátok sok szeretettel!

140 Budapest started out as a Facebook group back in 2016 with the aim of bringing together local fans of dubstep, grime, drill, bass music and other related genres. Among the members of the group, many well-known producers and upcoming talents emerged so the idea came that is would be worthwhile to show their music through this forum. At the end of 2020, Bergi and Vrama started the project with the same name ‘140 Budapest’, which eventually received 45 entries, 12 of which were added to the final material. The curator and quality controller of the copilation is the world-renowned DJ Madd whose music had been released on Tru Thoughts, Black Box, Dub-Stuy and Cosmic Bridge.
We are proud of the fact that every work phase / process of this community project (logo design, album artwork, t-shirt, mastering, etc) was done with the help of group members.
The 140 Budapest compilation starts with the tracks of nine musicians, which includes deep, meditative pieces with tribal elements, grime-influenced music and more exciting pieces. Enjoy!
