This is my bootleg remix of the much talked about collaboration between Solomun and Jamie Foxx, "Ocean." I love the original and had it on repeat for days before deciding to dive in myself. My vision for this version was to have something that would slam in a club, be versatile, and be a blend of genres. Clocking in at 6 minutes, it's nearly twice the length of the original and some would say more "DJ friendly."

Artist Bio:
With a drummer for a father, and a sister who was into illegal street racing, Subtractive’s (Alex Hunt’s) childhood was anything but normal. By age 13, Alex was already hooked by the euphoric, confidence-inducing sounds of electronic dance music; “I used to beg my sister to let me ride along on races... Sometimes she would give in. The days following, I would be asking her what music her friends were listening to in the car.”

After his initial exposure, it didn’t take long for Hunt to dedicate himself to learning the art of music creation. Without means to travel to the more vibrant music scenes of Detroit or Chicago, the young producer spent his nights practicing skills such as mixing, sampling, and synthesis. As years went on, Alex began making the trek from Indiana to Detroit nearly every weekend. With a head full of production knowledge and an eagerness to experience Detroit’s underground party scene, the cards were right for Alex Hunt to undergo a musical transformation; 
this is when he became Subtractive.

An artist whose eyes and ears are consistently set on the future, Subtractive strives to create music that is totally non-traditional. His compositions explore the limits of electronic sound, while maintaining a rhythm which is irresistible to dancers. Dream-like synth melodies and pristinely processed vocals float over the top of floor-shaking bass, creating a groove which consists of equal parts dance party and introspective voyage. Bar 25 Music proudly presents two tracks from Benno Blome’s forthcoming album “Night Shots”, including remixes by four different artists. Three for the dancefloor - one for the couch.
Remixed by Dachshund from Geneva and Tigerskin from Berlin, “White Flag” is a deep tune with a reduced melodic synth-line that sidles majestically through its performance. “We come in peace”, is pitched way down in Dachshund’s fantastic mix. In Tigerskin’s version, it disappeared, instead layering the hook line into a warm, dubby groove monster.
“Spherical Aberration” goes deep, yet remians pretty club-compatible in its original version. It has found superb remixes by Jiggler from Berlin and Kenneth James Gibson from Los Angeles. Here are two remixes that couldn’t be more contrasting. Jiggler, who is also known as one half of Channel X, pushes the theme into its boundaries and is capable to set any floor on fire.
On the other side we have Kenneth James Gibson’s beatless version which is super fluffy, hypnotic and with his typical ambient style, well-known from his amazing albums on Cologne’s Kompakt label.
This six-track-EP features the whole spectrum and is a preview in reference to Benno’s full length album “Night Shots”, to be released in February 2018, also on Bar 25 Music. Stay tuned.

Polish deep house duo Karol XVII & MB Valence return to Déepalma Records in fine form for a collaborative release with Lazarusman on the vocals and 8Bit label boss Gorge on remix duties. 

All three acts on this new Déepalma offering need little introduction. Their combined back catalogues read like a listing of the finest labels in the market, spanning Get Physical, Toolroom or Exploited just to mention a few. 

Now, with his remix on ‘Whispers’ 8bit label boss Gorge is once more giving proof of his brilliant production skills. His version begins smoothly with poignant chords, filtered drums and purring synth drones, slowly opening up to the song’s main part, composed of menacing low-ends, tangled melodies and twisted effects, perfectly melting with the inimitable vocals from Lazarusman which are carrying the track throughout. The result is a deep trippy club tune with increasingly rising energy, destined to light up dance floors time and time again.
