He was born and raised in Georgia, Batumi, lived and studied in Ukraine for a short, to return and gain respect in Georgia's capital Tbilisi,for time being regarded as Techno's hottest spot. He’s naturally modest, not very effusive, and quite thrifty in his statements. Revelation of Sound is pleased to present Ness with the exclusive mix for our channel. Ness is a dj and producer born and raised in Sardinia, acknowledged for his style over a decade of music with a background in sound engineering and many years of research and fine-tuning. He gradually developed a distinct technique with a strong focus on atmosphere combined with hypnotic rhythms. Having performed in some of the most relevant clubs and festivals around the globe, he steadily releases music and collaborates with several renowned techno labels within the scene. With experience as label manager through the years with partnership on Mono Records and The Gods Planet, he later established his spin off project label Ness Reworks in 2018. Ness music and dj set are well accepted and defined as an exploration of wide range of deep hypnotic techno and ambient soundscapes.

This week, we’re proud to welcome Art Bei Ton resident DJ and Ambient Sleepers creator, Hypnotic Black Magic to our podcast series.

Dancin’ feet at the ready, people. This is without a doubt a mix inspired by the magic of the dancefloor – the energy and good vibrations created by the music and music heads, locked in in a mystical moment of total connection and bliss.

As an artist, Hypnotic Black Magic focuses on creating “musical journeys oscillating between dark and bright energies. Inspired by ritualistic music, atmospheric ambient and hypnotic techno, she offers through her sets an exploration of obscure, meditative and sensual emotions.”

On the 5th Day Podcast #138 - Hypnotic Black Magic

@anastasiakristensen has been offering a new definition of techno for the last five years. When she plays, she plays from the heart, with unbridled energy and a rare sense of colour. She can bang out brutal beats then pivot in an instant to hi-NRG synth riffs. She'll mash up old school breaks and bleeps then rave to the future on a wave of electro. Her productions are just as impactful on labels like Houndstooth and Arcola. Yet despite the seriousness of her skills and the intensity of her sounds, she always plays with a smile. 

The Danish DJ pulls no punches on this week's mix. It seems to encapsulate her every side - peak time festival rave as well as more nuanced back room selections. What unites it all are the drums, which can always be felt as much as they can be heard. Sometimes they bounce under a sparse synth line. Midway through they are raw, flat-footed, unrelenting. Towards the end, they unravel into a flurry of jungle breakbeats. It's not easy to play such high-energy music but keep things dynamic, yet Anastasia does it with style.

After 5 years in the Shanghai local scene where she was involved as a dj, and live performer, Elise Massoni moved to Berlin to focus entirely on her music production.
She rapidly got noticed for her subtle blend of broken rhythms and delicate electro which landed her a first EP on Man Band records having her material remixed by Forest Drive West on 2 occasions.
   Being one of those wide-ranging selectors unafraid of drastic bpm and genre shifts, masterfully oscillating between fast techno, IDM, acid, and a smattering of ghetto and electro, Elise marked some notable appearances in some of Europe's most renowned clubs & festivals such as Kaiku (Helsinki), Rex Club (Paris), Dimensions and Flow festival.
   Finally relocating to Paris, Elise started her monthly residency on Rinse France in late 2018 and continues to push her sound forward and signed an opening reshape on François X's Irregular Passion reshape album (2019).
In 2020 she composed 2 short pieces to accompany artists' performances (cf. Tout ce qui ne tourne pas tombe - Chevalive Corporation, Espace Niemeyer Paris).

When he spins, it's as if the turntables and the mixer become a physical extension of his body. He employs every possible technique in the disc jockey arsenal masterfully: blending, scratching, backspinning, no monitors or headphones; unrivaled in his use of the fader switch and he incorporates them all into every set. From his standing room only residency performances to after-hours spots, he rocks every show as if it's his last.

DJ Bone is one of Detroit's most coveted underground vinyl technicians. This very talented and highly sought-after artist plays events and clubs worldwide, has held a residency at four of Detroit's top clubs and produces music inspired by the city in which he hails from, Detroit. And currently in residency at RADION.AMSTERDAM.

"If the gig is set-up with the music as the main focus (as it should be), then I have total control over the vibe. That's my duty. I'm not worried about having a Hollywood production going on or special effects with video images, smoke, etc. Just playing the best possible music as well as I can. I feel the need to constantly progress skill-wise and I feel my 3 deck sets are truly unique. Many DJs have 3 decks in front of them but how often do they actually have 3 records playing all at once (with the levels up)?” – DJ BONE

Based in Rennes and strongly influenced by the acid vibrations emerging from the other side of the Channel, it’s through Acid UK and flagship labels of this movement that DICA finds the first impulse to create his own music. Quickly surrounded by an analogical arsenal, we find him a few years later with an already perfectly-mastered hard-techno live, ready to make the walls sweat.

The fact that @kimkenis started DJing is perhaps only a logical consequence. Since her childhood music has always been her escape. She loves all genres. But since she discovered the clubs in 1999, her love for electronic music has only intensified. Being in the scene for over 15 years and after years of research and collecting, she has an extensive collection of music in all styles. With her predisposition to always want to share everything, it's strange she didn't think about starting spinning much sooner. Kim likes to do long, mostly horizontal sets. Here she proposes an hour voyage between dancing and spacing out. With her broad taste she will go from organic and groovy to sterile and minimalistic, one thing is for sure, it will be deep!

OTHK is a project that defines itself through a dark and heavy sound. In their live acts, you can find strong kicks, drifting glacial atmospheres and textures, aggressive sounds coming straight from modular synthesizers. IGNɅCIO, a Montevideo-Uruguay based artist, began his contact with music from a very early age. He started studying piano and solfing scales at the age of six and years later obtained his Piano degree. As a true classical music lover, he discovered electronic music in his 20’s and his passion for it made him start studying mixing and music production. 
The style that characterizes him is Techno and his mixes stand out because of his ability to combine intense, hypnotic and groovy sounds that derive on a versatile, unique and individual style.

BIO:

OTHK is a duo from Poland based in Sopot. Katarzyna Dąbrowa and Łukasz Gierszewski. Their fully modular, improvised live acts make much use of distortion and saturation, haunting reverbs and delays as well as unusual pitch modulation effects, combining ambient drones, industrial wave, field recordings and a raw modular sound. The result is dark, hypnotic techno with noise and acid flavours.

We curate queer sex-positive parties with equally queer line-ups, featuring mostly non-binary and trans DJs. Our aim is to platform artists with gender identities that are under-represented in the music industry, showing that it is possible to have more inclusive and diverse booking practices without a decrease in musical quality, but in fact with an increase by bringing new and previously unheard perspectives to the dance floor.

Discovering and nurturing new talent is at the very essence of SUBVERTED. We stand in resistance to the homogenisation and sanitisation to which the techno industry has been subjected in recent years via formulaic, easily-digested productions and repetitive line-ups, and intend to continue opening the industry's gates for a new generation of artists that are pushing their own unique and fresh take on dark industrial techno.
