Years have past since the last release of those alternative rockers from Lebkuchen-City. Five years they almost got lost in the well known doom of a daft rock’n’roll band. Growing fame and easy money came with too many drugs and beautiful women, followed by drug problems and less beautiful women, musical and individual differences, lineup changes, a tribute album und finally the buzz faded out. Some have rumoured the band had already taken its last breath, but hey! Surprise, surprise: They are still there. And regardless of the consequences, weight problems and loss of hair they’re still standing on stage, sweating and playing their hearts out, until the devil takes them.

Not the next big thing, no hype, no bullshit, just guitar, bass and drums and rock for sure. We can't do something else, but that's what we can do right.
Call it Indie, Alternative, Retro or Post or New or whatever?
Why should we care as long as the crowd is moving their arses!

A tribute to whom ?

Subwave are probably one of the most underestimated rock bands from Germany though no one can say how many bands have been influenced by their outstanding work. 
If somebody will sing the song of the unknown heroes of Rock'n'Roll there will be no doubt: Subwave can not be unsung. And any critic worth its salt won't deny their major importance in music history. 
More than ten years on the road to success, they came a long way producing eternal masterpieces only to be appreciated by the afterworld.  We thought the time is right for a tribute to one of the greatest bands ever and ever and ever. 
So we produced this priceless collection of greatest hits compiled from the most successful singles consisting only of A-sides in a unique digitally remastered version. Researches at the archives of every record company Subwave have worked with so far have brought to light treasures beyond imagination.
„Every band wants to reinvent Rock’n’Roll, we’re just writing good songs instead!“ Subwave claim and who wouldn’t agree after listening into the fabulous new album “A Tribute to…”. 
It’s been an open secret that these guys are good since the release of their last album “Fast Forward” (Burrofeliz/SPV) while the rough sound of their prior album “Kurt Cobain” or the independent milestone “Reject” got them the status of an insider tip already. 
Now they push it even further. The new songs rock forward and before you even know the melodies catch your ear, you sing a long guaranteed without awkwardness. “We need not to prove anything to anybody anymore and we won’t deform ourselves following the trend”, says singer and guitarist Sven. 
And this kind of unconcern is strongly audible in every track. As ever the maxim is: less is more and all a good song needs is a guitar, bass, drums and the right hook.
To find this concept work not only on CD you can see for yourself the best at any live show of Subwave: “We love to be on stage and we play only those songs that give us a real great time, and we transfer that feeling to our audience immediately.” Following that master plan the three played over 100 shows during their last tour. Airplay by german stations (BR3, Antenne, Delta, Jump etc.) and by many american college radio stations and miscellaneous features on compilations in the States prove that Subwave know how to do a great piece of music.
