Absolute pleasure to have a dear friend join us for our 9th instalment all the way from Sydney Marley Sherman,

Eora based disk jockey, occasional producer and a music obsessive since a young age, Marley has been a strong fixture in the city’s underground scene since 2015. 

As an avid digger of all groove based music, Marley has amassed an enviable record collection and a DJ resume to match; holding residencies and monthly sets at some of the best clubs and events down-under. 

A deejay not limited to one sound, his selections are filled with quirky melodies, vintage basslines and delivered with airtight mixing. 

His deep knowledge of music & many hours spent in-and-around the dancefloor has seen Marley share the decks with some of the best, including Sonja Moonear, Delano Smith & Quest; to name just a few.

On the production front, his first remix was released on vinyl via Brawther’s “Interweaved” label in March 2023, with more music to come. Watch this space.

Joining the Mont Blossom Music Group at this year’s Gans Anders Festival (22-24 September in Austria), is Portuguese DJ, Sergnho.! An integral part of Portugal's vibrant music scene, he’s set to showcase his distinctive blend of spacey and stylised house music, promising to captivate the audience with his unparalleled blend of expression, passion, and innovation. With an impressive track record of wowing crowds throughout Portugal and Europe, Serginho has rapidly emerged as a prominent figure in his homeland. Noteworthy collaborations, including the duo "Blá Blá Blá" with André Mecre, and partnerships with Carlos Fauvrelle and the Austrian label Blossom Kollektiv under the Mont Blossom Music Group, have even propelled him onto international stages in Austria, Spain, and Germany. We caught up with him ahead of the event to learn more, which you can read on our website.

Ears Wide Open is my call for you to come wander open-heartedly into the endless realm of beats and melodies I dig, mostly – but not limited to – electronic, No boundaries or preconceptions, just all that music I wanted to share with the world, but I didn’t have the chance yet.

I grew up listening to the radio or better said, the radio grew me musically, infected me with a visceral need to select the music I loved and tape it on cassettes. Later on, I started to buy vinyl and play them to the people at parties. Ears Wide Open triggers a new dimension of what DJing means for me. Tune in and enjoy!

Over the past 8 years or so we have had, along with Theo Parrish, the honour of playing the monthly residencies at a small basement club in Shoreditch, London with an impeccable sound system. After 20 years of operation, it was time to move on and close the doors on a place that has a lot to answer for in shaping modern club culture. To say this space along with the owner Ade’s singular vision was fundamental in our personal musical formation would be a complete understatement. 
 
On the day of their closing, manager Charlotte asked us if we’d put the system through its paces for the last time that the club would be open to the public. We set about packing the anthems from our respective residencies and on the night once the people were through the doors played 2 records in turn for the rest of the dance. We included tracks of our own and of friends that were made with that place in mind. Records like Daphni - Ye Ye and Four Tet - Pinnacles were made to first be played at Kieran’s nights there, and the Floating Points - Vacuum EP was born out of the CD-R night at the club, and its launch party was the trigger for Sam’s monthly residency.
 
We set this recording up just before the start of the night and unfortunately it distorts in places, but we make no apology for how joyfully noisy people get! The vibe in the room this night was typical of the club on any given night and we hope this recording captures just a fraction of the spirit of a Plastic People night.
 
A massive thank you from us to everyone that has come down to the nights over the years and supported our music there. We are truly humbled to have shared the music we love with people at this place, and your energy in turn has influenced the way we make music on an unfathomable scale. We also thank the bosses Charlotte Kepel and Ade Fakile for inviting us to the club and having faith in us over  these years! All the best for the future!

Here at Dekmantel we are a big fan of Berlin based Brit Objekt. Evidence: you will see him play our festival in Amsterdam as well as Lente Kabinet, and then Dekmantel Selectors in Croatia. And right now, the man known for his unrivalled technical nous is in a fine run of form. His recent, self-released EP is another testament to his ability to skew house, techno and breaks into his own imaginative forms. Following on from releases on Hessle Audio, Bleep and an album on PAN, it is another boon in his fine discography. 

And he is just as impressive across a 90 plus minute selection for us: it finds him serving up a cavernous world of intricate and hi fidelity sounds that are abstract and unusual. Moving through sparse minimal soundscapes into pummelling but atmospheric drum tracks and on to jungle, dub and experimental worldly rhythms, it is a wildly compelling and singular selection filled with unusual sounds that often leaving you wondering WTF?!
