Spanning over decades, Metamorphic Recordings has become a staple name amongst the realms of discerning house and low-end leaned techno, and the 39th release is a sure sign the label are showing no signs of slowing down the pace. Dublin based ZOiD is the artist of choice here, the electronic and jazz musician showcasing his genre straining sound with two slick and innovative cuts, writing the narrative for the "Dexaphonic EP". The originals are in fine company as pioneer of the game John Tejada turns out a remix on the A side, with label founder Dan Curtin joining in the festivities on the B side.

Sparkling in the hazy early hours with a pure and emotional charm is "Space Station Dexaphonic". The transcending and otherworldly synths all converse in harmony around precise and intricately placed drum patterns. Hi-tek jazz for the tastemakers amongst us. Complementing the opening track is John Tejada's remix, feel good energy once more, with a vintage Tejada twist. Structured around an elasticated rolling bass and teased by an enticing vocal sample.

Steering in a more raw and industrial direction on the B side is ZOiD's "9713Poochy", a five-minute trip with rugged foundations at the core. Moving in quirky and mechanical motions from the get go, driven by an enormous kick at the wheel. Dan Curtin breathes an alternative lease of life into the original with his unconventional sound. The crisp broken drums create an irresistible groove, allowing the ethereal textures to work their magic.

Timeless music once more from the Metamorphic imprint, carefully curated by Berlin based Dan Curtin, inviting artists of old and new, allowing them to have total freedom with their sound and run wild.

After providing Touch From A Distance's inaugural release not even one year ago, the mighty @desertsoundcolony is returning to Nick Höppner's label for another round on the bouncy bounce, his bubble gun  at the ready!

It's no exaggeration to say Desert Sound Colony smashed it on all fronts in the past year: He put himself firmly on the map by pushing his own label Holding Hands with a fresh take on beloved tropes of UK club music. His number of gigs also increased dramatically and he popped his Panorama Bar cherry earlier this year at the first TFAD label night, where he unleashed a joyous assault of beats and bass whipping the crowd into a frenzy. 

His new EP for Touch From A Distance is an algamation of all the good stuff we've come to expect from the London based DJ and producer: Opener „Zenome Archetype“ is a retrofuturistic joyride across mountainous bass and funked up syncopation. „Taking It Out For A Rip“ then couples a thumping 4/4-UKG-Beat with a cheeky vocal sample, while „Walrus Rodeo“ slows down the tempo and cranks up the folly for a slice of weird dancefloor fun Desert Sound Colony does so well.  „Al Gore Rhythmic“, a collaboration with Guava, closes the EP channeling classic 2-Step and golden era HipHop vibes.

Ahhhh the joys of creating a new label! I have started Holding Hands Again to bring to light some records from the past that I adore and think should be made more widely available so that everyone can slam them in the club.

Bushwacka! is without a doubt one of the main influences behind the main Holding Hands label. His UK take out house and techno then lead onto his groundbreaking labels Oblong and Plank that have inspired many of the generations that came after him. I love those breaks releases and play a lot of them in my sets but my favourite of his cuts are actually his super early releases that he put out on his own label Sound As A Pound. Volume 1, 2 and 3 are packed with gems and sound just as original today as they did in the mid 90s. They are incredibly rare and sought after by any DJ who knows their stuff, which is why I am so pleased to be able to share three of my favourite tracks from those releases.

I chose three that covered a broad range of sound. Loopy trippy house, techno with a ton of soul and one straight up classic house banger. I have also done a garage remix of track 8 myself to bring another spin on his unique sound.

This re release has been freshly remastered for maximum boost and sounds fat as fuck on a system.

This Is Our Time welcomes Aspetuck from the US to their label family with 'The Time Capsule Experiment' EP. His three original tracks are ranging from house, breakbeat to electro but all of them come with a nice twist. Jazzy chord & odd vocoder sounds accompany a cosmic soundscape on the EP starter 'Lift Point' and with tweaked chirps & eastern strings on a bare breakbeat, 'The Time Capsule Experiment' is definitely the most leftfield one on this EP. Closing off the release is the sinister electro 'Solace' of which we can only imagine a demon-summoning tribal ritual was the inspiration.
The EP comes with two remixes. Jeigo's rethinking of the title track is a meetup of two worlds: an aerial stomper for closing your set in the early morning hours. The dubby trance remix of 'Lift Point' is from the label boss Route 8 - his synth pads have never been so trippy like this!

It's been 30 years since John Peel pondered over a mysterious house record with cryptic stickers on his legendary radio show in January of 1991. In 2020 Craigie Knowes sister label Wormhole Wisdom has pulled out all the stops to remaster and reissue this important piece of UK dance music history.

Super-rare classics "Laura Laura" and "La Monde Marine" are coupled with 3 previously unheard/unreleased tracks that were recorded as part of Simon Power's Marine Boy project 3 decades ago - 2 of which have been loving edited for DJ-use by label co-head Parts Unknown.

PREMIERE: Marine Boy - La Monde Marine Part 1 [Wormhole Wisdom]

Origins" is a collection of 6 pillars in exploratory electronic music from 6 different uprising producers and sound artists. A varied, yet cohesive collection of bright, meditative, and pulsating atmospheres.

The opening track, "Hornet", from Florida's Alien House uncovers otherworldly landscapes as they traverse through a haze of deep-space electro. Fluttering synths fill barren craters where shadow figures lurk in and out of light. Rising and rising with a strange, euphoric tension.

The elusive Joe Gigs follows suit with "Time Slip", a slow-rolling house arrangement that stutters underneath a chord phrase built for an endless sunrise. Faint vocals echo out as an introspective flute pattern comes into view. Finally met with a warm, slinky bass-line that tingles the spine.

Continuing on with the house grooves, Portland's Well Being gives us "Soft Mood", which is just that. Shiny, crisp percussive elements ride a groove that peaks and valleys in all the right ways. Gentle acid bass echoes out in radar ping patterns while swells of smooth synth and indistinct vocal chops fill the room.

Starting on the flipside we have a choice cut from Austin, TX stalwart, Corduroi. Deep, lush synths become the lifeblood of "Planet Cool" while a break-ish rhythm catapults us into orbit. Acid bass sequences drip like honey as the synths gain energy and form. Suddenly we find ourselves four on the floor as every element seamlessly lives as one.

Nestled in the middle of side B features "Cloud Mirror" from Akasha System. Hushed out toms and broken snares meet breathy, misty synths before the sub bass guides us into the next realm. Suddenly a hazy bell phrase comes into view followed by mysterious clicks and clacks. And of course, what A.S. song would be complete without a dreamy mallet section?

Couldn't think of a better finale than this epic journey of a track from LA's Pkacarl. "Holding Together" starts us off with an end-of-the-world piano scenario before being joined by what can only be described as an electric guitar oozing through the portals of an entire galaxy of synths and pedals. What really makes this song is the mind-crushing bass-line with an invincible spirit that may keep you dancing infinitely.
