Melbourne based rising talent Benjamin Stendell aka Solar Suite FKA Reallynicedad in controls for guest mix #87. With releases on Gestalt Records and Rodeo already under his belt his cosmic take on forward-thinking electronic music is bound to raise interest this year with as string of releases in the pipleine. His solo debut vinyl is coming on my Echocentric Records label (@echocentricrecords)  late 2020/early 2021 and it's going to be massive. Benjamin mixed a really nice (pun intended!) set of breaks, bleeps and cosmic synths.

@Damo-B has been involved in the music scene in Manchester for the last 20 years or so. Heavily involved in pirate radio back in the late 1990's not only as a DJ but also part of the staff team that secured a legal license for the station now known as Unity Radio 92.8 fm, the real sound of the city.
He is the longest serving Dj on the network and his weekly 2 hour mix show is the only dedicated platform for deep house, techno and electro in the North West of England, helping to break brand new music and artists from all over the globe. A highly respected tastemaker and technically gifted Dj whose mixing skills are second to none, a true Dj's Dj. Recently appearing in the DJ Magazine with his featured artist top 10.
Damo B is also a resident Dj for the respected Bohemian Grove night in Manchester, besides, he was seen playing along side  Levon Vincent, Keith Worthy, Amir Alexander, Jane Fitz , Patrice Scott, Chris Mitchell & Amir Alexander, Perseus Traxx, Chicago Skyway, Steven Tang, Mike Huckaby, Miles Sagnia and many more!
Currently running his bi monthly 'Nothing but the truth' events at the legendary Eastern Bloc record store, where he has been joined by the likes of Steven Rutter B12 (Warp Records, B12 & FireScope Records), John Shima (FireScope Records, Subwax Bcn, Common Dreams, Distant Worlds), Auto Sound City (Toni Aslam & Alex Handley) & Iron Blu ( Weapons Of Desire , Somewhere In The North), Murf Woram (Superfreq, The End)
Not happy with just being a Dj, Damo has now delved into the world of music production, alongside with his long time friend and sometimes Dj partner Toni Aslam they are collectively known as Nom De Plume. Their first digital release on S.I.N was the 'A Form of Poison E.p which was received very well.

Kicking the hinges back off our dormant label mix series is stalwart of all things yellow and dance-related, X-Kalay - a London born and bred imprint, curated and run by none other than FH friend Sam Astbury. With releases, both helping to unearth hidden gems as well as showcasing some of the sonisphere's most revered talent - it's no surprise that XK have garnered one of the most solid physical release collectorships around, finding themselves safely tucked away(for now) in the record bags of your favorite selectors.

X-Kalay's mix for us, encapsulates everything we hold dear about the label and more, working up just over an hour of future dance grooves, trippy melodies and techy drum patterns. 

Sam says "The mix consists solely of new(ish) music from some of my favourite labels and producers that I've picked up on Bandcamp. It's a pretty broad mixture of styles that I'm into at the moment, but generally, all chosen with the club in mind. It starts with some tight, techy tracks and loosens up over the second half with some trippy rollers and super fun basslines. Hope you enjoy!"

Any conversation about local producers with the potential for a global audience should feature Fader Cap (FKA Sedgwick). Hailing from Ballarat and now based in Melbourne, the producer/DJ is a bona fide studio head crafting electronic music soaked in hard-hitting electro elements, classic house motif's and warm, ethereal ambient soundscapes. When he's not DJing or performing live club sets on his extensive hardware collection, he looks after the daily operations of the very much favoured Potatoheadz imprint. It's a label releasing the kind of music that will be considered timeless in the not-too-distant future. Sit back and enjoy the sci-fi world of Fader Cap.

Pressed on a limited run of orange vinyl, the color and name of the EP correspond to Sodium on the Fraunhofer Absorption Spectrum of our sun.

Stefan Weise aka Syrte envisioned the “Astra Spectra” series as a celebration of mankind’s vision for space exploration, past and future, while also expressing a love for space science, science fiction and the spirit of discovery. Each release in the series is representative of a color frequency in our sun’s absorption spectrum and the element which is represented by that, hence the name, which means “Solar Spectrum”.

Well known for his beautiful techno, electro and electronica and featuring on top labels including FireScope, Nebulae, Revoke and Childhood Intelligence, Darren brings ‘Forgotten Technology’ which is some of his best work to date.
 
'Hidden In Plain Sight' (+) a dystopian electro track weaving lush warm pads and glassy eyed melodies over bubbling 808 beats with added 303 grittiness resulting in a wonderful timeless Detroit inspired gem.

‘Behind The Smile' (++) Imagine if B12 and Larry Heard met up for a late night jam in the mid 90's! A chi-town bassline combined with icy atmospherics and exquisite drum programming all make for a great track for both club and home-listening alike. 
 
On the flip Dream Sequencer (-) takes us into pure space territory.  A Nu Electronica style techno monster with driving drums and immersive emotional content throughout.
This track is sure to make any discerning dance floor go into overdrive!

To close we have the amazing electronica of 'Great Tartaria' (- -) Mr. Nye pulls out all the stops to deliver a sumptuous story-telling track. A pounding 808 kick and then soul soothing melodies and strings take you to a higher plane.
