Ransom Note Records present new signing Natasha Bai, with her debut EP ‘Transsib’; an oneiric voyage through the world of the Russian DJ, musician, producer and vocalist.

“Transsib, short for ‘Trans-Siberian Railway’ is the 9000 km of railroad that connects Moscow with Vladivostok on the Russian Far East. The building of the Transsib Railway helped the founding of my hometown many years ago; Novosibirsk. It’s 50 hours by train from Novosibirsk to Moscow and during this time little life happens” - Natasha Bai

Promoter of the legendary Siberian group «Сто Своих» in the early 2010’s, Natasha Bai now lives in Moscow and plays at the likes of Simachev Bar and tours Russia with «ДК Детка» (‘de-ka-detka’). She is also an NTS, Kiosk Radio, Test FM and Gop Tun regular guest and has released two EPs under her ambient-pop alter ego; Altai Princess. Her debut EP on Ransom Note Records features four track blending genres and imaginary worlds.

Opening track ‘Romantiko’ welcomes skitty beats alongside poppy vocal snippets summoning electro kicks; engaging sonic distortion and synth melodies. “It’s like a bright sunny morning when you wake up happy”.

Title track ‘Transsib’ is a stand-out on the EP for its proggy-trance inflection and ethereal synth keys, mimicking “the sounds of a moving train.” A genre-bending frenzy and a rapturing refrain recall the sound of inertia.

‘Your Kiss’ is inspired by “unhappy love, which happens especially when you’re young.” Expect acid euphoria and eagerness for love and lust, where Natashas’s vocals address the subject of romantic distress.

Closing track ‘Just Say’ is “a little intervention” from her alias Altai Princess, whose music focuses on the outer reaches of ambient-pop. The track notches the tempo down in Altai territory, with the kicks atop the longing lyrics “just say there is only me”.

Transsib EP is a symbol of growth, of “moving through life and moving towards your dreams. From my hometown to the city of my dreams, from my first steps in music to my first EP, from childhood through youth to adulthood. It’s a never-ending journey.

PREMIERE : Natasha Bai - Your Kiss

Future Chroma is an ambient duo of Stiletti-Ana and Casio G Url. They both have been playing music since they were kids and they both have always liked to create their own music instead of playing what others have composed. The duo met in 2018 when Casio G Url needed to buy a new synthesizer and couldn't decide which model to get. She came over to Stiletti-Ana's studio to try out a bunch of different synths to help her hard decision. That night they had a long jam and realized that they share a similar mind in music. The tape recorder was wired in and they recorded the basis of their first EP that was released in 2019 on Haista records.
Instead of hiding themselves and their music behind some mystic otherworldly figures, Stiletti-Ana and Casio G Url are just purely enthusiastic about playing their synthesizers and instruments and making music that they like. It's a cliché when a musician says that there was no producer or music industry head telling what to do, but honestly that never even came into Stiletti-Ana's or Casio G Url's mind that there could be someone telling them what to do to succeed. Future Chroma is doing only what they like and what they like the most are heavenly arpeggios, lovely melodies and super cosmic sounds.
In late 2019 Future Chroma packed their Nissan Micra full of equipment and drove to their secret hideout studio in the middle of Southern Finland forests. They had another really long jam and they recorded everything. Out of those sessions came the basis of their debut album called I. Finalizing a timeless piece of synthesizer music took longer than they expected and now finally 15.5.2023 the album sees the daylight. Their main influences on the record are Berlin School ambient and records made by pioneers of cosmic and electronic music such as Tangerine Dream, Suzanne Ciani, Pauline Oliveros and Laurie Spiegel just to name a few.
But their debut doesn't sound like anything out there, because it's Future Chroma's music and it's really good!

Suction Records presents a new split-12-inch by label alumnus June and Lowfish - “C.D.S.N.” (suction038) is 4 tracks of classic Suction-style melodic analog electro. 300 copies on ORANGE vinyl.

Berlin’s June first appeared on Suction Records with his 2015 debut album of wave-inspired electro, “Dominion.” Here, June opens the 12” with “Cynthia 84,” a a lush, beatless Tangerine Dream-scape, thick with analog arpeggiations and gorgeous melodies. “Navigation” closes proceedings with a driving, dark electro/wave dance track.

Toronto’s Lowfish co-founded Suction Records in 1997, and has been a staple of the label ever since. Lowfish appearances have been few and far between in recent years, but he’s returned here in finest form. “Dead Specimen” is clinical and pounding electro, while side B’s opener ”Scarborough Brutalist" is a prime example of Lowfish’s patented melodic electro style, with catchy, melancholy analog melodies cascading over slow but slamming 808 beats.
