In a musical landscape dominated by American and Commonwealth producers, Bass Music's eastern European vanguards are an often-undersung breed of impressive composers and engineers. The Rust's most recent addition to our release catalog is a stalwart Siberian producer by the name of Coout, brandishing his first full length release, Time to Believe. 

Coout's style takes a heavy influence from a range of garage and breakbeat styles, fusing transient percussion and low-slung bass lines that rattle along harmonic peaks. Time to Believe coalesces these influences into a seven track album that focuses on emotive arrangements, delivering powerful phrases with a particular degree of harmony and ample vocal sampling. Blending rhythmic staccato with pulsing sub frequencies is the wheelhouse that Coout draws his primary strengths from, and he successfully pulls off his interpretation of full-spectrum music through clever breaks, tight turnarounds, and a generous serving of spatial swelling. 

For those who are looking for a relaxed infusion of rhythm, soul, and synthesis, Time to Believe should be the next must-have on your record wishlist.

Savej’s full “Entheogenetic” album is coming out on Gravitas Recordings September 29th and is a multi-cultural blend of ancient future and world bass. This genre-bending journey pays homage to various cultures who have influenced Savej and celebrates their history through a new idea of music. This album digs deep into the ancient idea of music and is packed full of influences and collaborations with SOOHAN, Liquid Bloom, Lil Fish, Johnny Buffalo and Ronnā Yawa. The last ‘Wacomaya’ single is donating 100% of proceeds to the non-profit (Futuro Nativo) to support the solar project aimed at acquiring solar panels for Ronnã’s village in the Brazilian Amazon.  Savej’s album uplifts cultures like this through music, and he created a beautiful exploration through different ideas and many ancient traditions under one cohesive journey.

Myself and good friend Liquid Bloom are honored to have been entrusted to create an ancient future rendition of this age-old medicine jam.

Like many indigenous cultures, the Yawanawá deeply recognize that music goes far beyond entertainment - it’s a vital part of our spiritual expression, connection to nature, healing, community, and that unspeakable remembrance of the part of ourselves that spans beyond the human experience. This can be instantaneously felt on a visceral level the moment these songs are sung…pure magic.  

All proceeds from this single will be donated to a non-profit (FUTURO NATIVO) with the intention of raising money to acquire solar panels for Ronnã’s village, Yawarani.

Danish artist Be Svendsen combines once more with the Crosstown Rebels crew, following on from his emphatic NU 'Man O To' remix, which landed in late February. The latest collaboration comes in the form of the new 'Twilight in Tankwa' EP, it comes with two original cuts as well as a remix from Berlin native Nico Stojan. Lasse Bruhn Svendsen ,as he's known to his friends and family, has been a proponent of refreshing electronic music since his emergence in 2014 and the work he started continues with yet another special record. The title track is a slow-winding groover that's coated with intricate melodic touches, while an engrossing atmosphere rotates around a punchy drum ensemble. Bladerunner 2049... wow! I was blown away by the epic sound design  and remembered how much I loved the music to the original film, so I dug up Rachael's Song by Vangelis.
