Rewind in time to the mid 2000’s when Nickodemus was making many collaborations in San Juan Puerto Rico with the Candela All-stars, Quantic, & many Salsa, Rumba legends. Vocalist & guirro player Sammy Ayala (from the groups Ismail Rivera & Cortijo) was one of those legends & they had a quick easy style of working together. Baila a tú Manera feat Sammy Ayala came out with a Whiskey Barons remix in 2012. Almost 10 years later & we have another remix aimed straight for the dancefloor by the one & only Captain Planet. Let the dancers loose & raise a toast to the late great beautiful Sammy Ayala one more time.

The music labels Matraca (Lima) and Eck Echo (Berlin) join forces to release on June 21st a deeply-rooted compilation of contemporary Andean electronic music with novel tracks from top producers from countries such as Peru, Colombia, Ecuador and Chile. The futuristic gaze into the cultures that shaped much of the worldview of modern Southamerica has been co-curated by artist IraZema, hailing from Puno, at the shores of the mythical Titicaca Lake, likewise the gateway into the enigmatic Aymara Culture. The artwork that takes us inside the "Ukhu" (the inner world of the Andean cosmogony) has been developed by Puno artist Nilton Vela, who renders the Supay - a demon -or maybe an angel- that thrives in the nether regions of the Ukhu Pacha.
"Pacha" is like many other Andean own words of South America a concept that defies any direct western categorization and any attempt to translate this concept leaves us with a profound desire to reach beyond our own linguistic borders. Out of the three concepts that conform the pachas as recounted by Andean cultures, the 'Ukhu" that represent the inner, deep, invisible, world, also associated with death and the underground but at the same time with fertility and the possibilities of new life.

On the back of his album Natura Sonora, Shika Shika co-founder El Búho offers up a refreshing new direction on this four track EP Tón Tón, exploring the concept of organic dem-bow. These tracks are inspired by the idea of taking a now global and commercial beat but seen through El Búho owl-ish lens, mixing his trademark natural sounds, laid-back beats and mix of electronic and acoustic samples.

The release kicks off with ethiopian jazz inspired opener “Get At You”, a nod to saxophone legend Getatchew Mekurya, before going deep into a driving collaboration with Chilean producer DJ Raff featuring scattered vocals and whirling saxophones. Sol y Tormenta features Ecuadorian MC La Mafianadina providing her kichwa flow to the Siku-bow beat. The EP ends with the refined electro-swing-bow of Marti.

DJ Pippi & Willie Graff - Let Me Show You (ft. Santino Surfers) - s0751

	𝗞 𝗽𝗮𝗿 𝗞 (𝗢𝗿𝗶𝗴𝗶𝗻𝗮𝗹 𝗦𝗼𝘂𝗻𝗱𝘁𝗿𝗮𝗰𝗸) is the soundtrack to 𝗖𝗶𝗲 𝗦𝗮𝗰𝗼𝗿𝗱𝗲's contemporary circus show of the same name. Composed throughout the creation process on stage from 2020 to 2022, the soundtrack is perfectly synchronized with the acrobats' movements on stage, and forms an integral part of the artistic proposition.

	Delving into the theme of migration with gravity, this album offers a glimpse into the complexity of the issue. Between distress, violence, survival, hope and joyful memories, a wide range of emotions runs through these 8 tracks. 𝗧𝗵𝗼𝗺𝗮𝘀 𝗣𝗮𝗻𝗶𝘃𝗮𝗹 𝗕𝗮𝗻𝗴𝗼𝘂𝗿𝗮's poem opens the album, read by project collaborator 𝗠𝗮𝗿𝗶𝗲 𝗥𝗮𝗷𝗮𝗯𝗹𝗮𝘁. This is followed by excerpts from the rescues of 𝗦𝗢𝗦 𝗠𝗲𝗱𝗶𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗿𝗮𝗻𝗲𝗲's Ocean Viking, whose stories were a great source of inspiration. Then begins an intense auditory journey, a crossing through the words of migrants, sea rescuers, politicians, writers... all wrapped up in intense, melodic, sometimes minimalist but resolutely powerful music.

	𝗖𝗶𝗲 𝗦𝗮𝗰𝗼𝗿𝗱𝗲's show 𝗞 𝗽𝗮𝗿 𝗞 is a cry of solidarity, a call for dialogue, opening the way to reflection on this dehumanization, and this original album is one of its voices.

Australian Rapoeira wizard XANGA is back on Multi Culti with a 3-tracker, backed by a sparkly remix from Ecuador’s Nicola Cruz.

Multi Culti throws down a kitschy pop manifesto with Get Outta My Dreams, a Tarzan-sampling call to the wild that implores us to leave the city and align with nature. Xanga gives overt voice to what we’re all feeling, stuck in urban existence, longing to dance among jungle spirits. 

This is the Way it Starts continues with mad-cap percussion, taking things far off the rails of conventional dance music with live-pulsing rhythms and fast paced arrangement. La Luz rounds off the EP with a hypnotic, shaker-driven groove and trippy, delay-soaked tuned percussion layers. Xanga moving with confident steps towards a distinctly individual sound. 

Nicola Cruz, hot off his latest releases on Multi Culti and ZZK, chimes in with his remix of Get Outta My Dreams, reinforcing the beats, adding his chugging South American tribalism while preserving the feel of the original.

On April 19th, DJs for Climate Action (DJS4CA) present the second annual EARTH NIGHT; an initiative harnessing the energy of the global nightlife scene to raise awareness and funds for climate action.  Taking place in the week leading up to Earth Day, the team will release an impressive music compilation and sponsor parties in Brooklyn and beyond to shine light on the challenge facing our planet and the unique role musicians can play.  

This year DJS4CA launch EARTH NIGHT RECORDS with a compilation that gathers new music from over 50 artists from 12 countries including Simon Meija (Bomba Estereo), Infinity Ink, Nicola Cruz, Little Boots, and many others. It will become available for pre-order exclusively through Bandcamp starting March 11th, and tracks will drop every week leading up to the full release on 4/19.

Proceeds from all EARTH NIGHT activities will fund projects focused on effective climate action through direct partnerships. This includes work at the nexus of renewable energy, health and education with Little Sun, boosting the global climate youth movement with Earth Guardians, and offsetting the impact of DJ air travel with CO2 Logic.
