After years of mainly working on coproductions, Andre Crom started to dive deep into solo studio work in november 2015, and since then has been pretty much obsessed with nothing else.

These tracks belong to the first results of these endeavours; more will soon follow.

The EP opens with "Jaunde", a detroit-influenced spacy cut, somewhere between techno and house. Building on the foundation of a solid Kick&Sub groove we are welcomed by a deep and hypnotic arp theme, wrapped into warm bass pads and a classic string. A perfect track for the later hours of a set.

"Ritus" is aimed more towards building tension, an energetic syncopated stab lead, demanding claps and a tight groove build towards an epic breakdown, before a warm pads gives resolve.

"Momentum" is clearly the peaktime cut of the package, built around driving percussions and an intense arp lead.

Charlotte De Witte, one of Belgium's most promising newcomers and known from several EP's on Turbo, makes her OFF debut with a remix of Jaunde, taking things into a more linear and darker direction.

LOK Recordings’ fifth release comes from the co-owner of the label NORR, who has produced three floor-referred tracks in cooperation with the Belgian singer, producer and songwriter Cook Strummer. Soul Distortion consists of three originals and two perfectly fitting remixes by Diynamic’s Magdalena and Aki Bergen & Richter.

NORR and Cook Strummer’s originals absorb the listener with their leading vocals, driving drums and varying harmonic accents. The EP's brooding intensity evolves with haunting synths and subtle acid lines laced over Cook Strummer’s compelling vocals followed by dark, hypnotic layers. 

Magdalena’s remix is a clean production full of drum and hit variations, while perfectly timed saw waves bolster her version of the original track ‘Can’t Stand’. Her method of twisting vocals along with force and energy creates an alluring and unforgettable remix.

The Aki Bergen & Richter remix of “Soul Distortion" bursts with power and demonstrates the duo's understanding of floor related music. A massive unstoppable kick drum, stunning chords, gently used vocals and synth cutouts of NORR’s original compile their driving technoid remix.

PREMIERE: NORR - Can't Stand feat. Cook Strummer (Magdalena Remix) [LOK Recordings]

Making his debut on Sudbeat, some 16 years into his music career, is one of the most underrated producers on the scene. Paolo Mojo is one the those rare-breed artist that, in spite of not having a massive social media presence, punishing release schedule or obvious high profile obligations, continues to captivate an army of loyal fans, industry insiders and top class labels. 

Indeed, since his epic ‘The Feels’ on Glasgow Underground last summer, Paolo has not release a single track, preferring instead to focus his attention on quality not quantity. Something of a rarity in these days of continual instant gratification. 

Away from the glare of the spotlight, his obvious studio talent has had time to mature resulting in a series of tracks over the last few years which are a class above the rest. Double-header, 'Kangiten' and 'Room 1282' continue the trend with joyous aplomb. He’s also included two DJ friendly synthapellas to accompany the main tracks. 
'Kangiten' is underpinned by phat 909s, phased percussion and summery chords all culminating in a rapturous tour-de-force end-of-the-nighter. On the flipside, 'Room 1282' displays a more reflective Mojo; delicate keys and soft percussive tones lay the groundwork for the deep rubbery bassline and epic breakdown which follow.
