The 38th release on Darin Epsilon's Perspectives Digital comes from the mind of Gonzalo Luque, better known as Soulwerk.  Based in Madrid, this young artist has already worked with major international labels such as Hope Recordings, Saved, Cr2, Great Stuff, and Stereo Productions, among many others.  'Stuck In My Mind' immediately caught our attention with its rolling bass groove, spacey chords, and hypnotic vocals.  We knew a talented artist like Soulwerk required equally talented remixers, so rounding out the package is an upbeat and bouncier remix provided by Australian producer Jamie Stevens, followed by a deeper rendition from Tel Aviv duo Jos & Eli.

Founding member of the celebrated, award-winning electronica act Infusion, Jamie Stevens has built an impressive solo career with releases on Bedrock, microCastle, and Lost & Found.  His recent collaboration with John Digweed and Nick Muir resulted in an epic techno production for the 'VS' album, while his glorious 'The Wonder of You' EP caused a massive stir hitting number 1 on Beatport's Tech House chart.  The instantly recognizable remixes created for the likes of Hernan Cattaneo, John Digweed, Booka Shade, and Cid Inc have been no stranger to praise and support from the biggest names in the industry.

Returning to Proton Music in October 2018, the "Audacity" EP represented Simos Tagias at his finest with two exceptional original tracks. Remixes from a Croatian superstar and Australian mainstay now continue the story.

An undisputed master of his craft, Petar Dundov has represented the underground dance scene with considerable aplomb for over 25 years. With his innovative sound design and unique sonic architecture, the Croatian has been at the vanguard of a genre-defying sound that perhaps identifies most closely to techno for Dundov himself. Melding rhythm and melody in distinctive patterns that have mesmerised global audiences at festivals such as, "I Love Techno" and "EXIT, and clubs including and Tokyo's "Womb" and Berlin's achingly cool "Berghain", work for a plethora of blue-chip imprints has appeared in tandem. Thus, Music Man, Systematic Recordings, Cocoon and Bedrock have all played host to Dundov's iconic sound.

Making his Proton Music debut, the Petar Dundov remix of the title track takes "Audacity" on a rolling groove inspired journey that pulsates gently on a wave of sumptuous pads and familiar motifs from Tagias' original. Evolving elegantly, a searing arpeggio filters into sonic range towards the mid-point before the track explodes in the second half with a huge analogue bassline and intricate percussive cadence full of clave groove. The resultant work is a glorious sonic collage of the highest order.

Gavin Griffin is an artist requiring no introduction to the Proton Music faithful. A producer whose trajectory continues to rise exponentially, his GMJ moniker has been closely linked to the Particles and Proton Music labels with a host of original music, both in solo and collaborative guises. An artist with an acute understanding of the underground music scene, a passion for his craft shines through with his "deep emotive electronic music". Indeed, some 300 production credits feature the GMJ name as his work continues to feed the catalogues of such celebrated imprints as Balkan Connection, Open Records and Hernan Cattaneo's Sudbeat.

A regular on Proton Music with several original EPs alongside fellow Australian, Matter, and a collaboration with iconic Hungarian producer, East Café, October 2017's "Sovereign Reality" saw GMJ make his solo debut with an EP of ambitious scope and immaculate production. Now returning after remixes of Dousk and Nocturna, the GMJ remix of "Elaza" epitomises GMJ's attention to detail as an immaculately polished rhythmic foundation plays host to an array of rich, haunting melodies. Signature motifs from Tagias' original make their presence felt in the second half as they blend seamlessly with GMJ's additional production material – the result is an interpretation that sees the Australian at the top of his artistic endeavours.

Remixes from Petar Dundov and GMJ have the "Audacity" to take Simos Tagias to an even higher level.

Making his long overdue debut of Sudbeat is an artist whose fingerprints can be seen in the very fabric of dance music itself, Robert Babicz. 

Robert’s sonic journey began many moons ago in his native Germany. He made his first track on borrowed equipment in 1992, and from that moment, he knew this was to be his life. Gaining notoriety as live act Rob Acid in those early days gave Robert a solid grounding in dance music, laying the foundations for his exceptional studio craft as an in-demand remixer and mastering engineer. Blessed with having synaesthesia, Robert can literally see sound and hear colour, and this is reflected in his vivid and wildly creative music. 

Robert begins his EP with ‘Heartwave’ a typically solid melodic tapestry laden with bespoke moments of wondrous joy. The low-end might of the opening bars quickly joined by rattling percussion and subtle melancholy pads. Next, we experience Roberts vision of ‘Electric Loneliness’. Stark kicks melt into rubbery bass as stripped back percussion gives room for the bulbous pads and melodics to paint their sombre picture. Finally, ‘Ectomorph Sun’ dawns with menace in its heart. Spiky bass notes are kept restrained ever ready for mayhem as epic orchestral textures lift the mood.

John Cosani’s taste can be appreciated in his full discography as well as in his dj sets and his radioshow Cubik where he shows why he’s considered as one of the trendiest progressive house artists coming from the hotbed of Buenos Aires.

Opening his new Sudbeat release with  ‘Vectoria’, layers of percussive hats and sonics combine to create a warm, inviting sound. Later, developing melodic lines take over and the track becomes transcendental. Next up, ‘Sirio’ takes a deeper path. Harder edged percussion drives the track as pads and sweeps add atmosphere. The main hook is melancholic and thoughtful, meandering toward the break before fading into ethereal voices. Finally, ‘Airplane’ hits home. A tough bass groove organically grows tension and drama through well designed layers culminating in a powerful peak time bruiser. One for the late floors.

An interplanetary blast off of a tune. 

Newcomers Personna & Bloch then inject an electrifying youthful vibrancy into proceedings with ‘Endpoint’, already a firm favourite of Dave Seaman’s who insists ‘On Point’ may have been a more befitting title, before label favourite Athea returns to the fold with a no-nonsense heads down throbber in the form of ‘Rebel’. This is club music at its most vital. 

Next up, Berlin’s Smash TV gets deep down and dirty for the low slung groover that is ‘Freaks’, irresistible phatness of the highest order which is followed by the mysterious Mr E donning his alter ego for some serious superhero dance floor action courtesy of the beguiling ‘Lost’ and last but by no means least, Darksidevinyl & Balata combine for an Afro House anthem in the making. ‘Boohe’ is a towering representation of the genre. Tribal-tastic! 

In short, a magnificent seven that would have Bronson, Brynner & McQueen running for the hills.
