Angle Two

Herinneringen –  the story behind this track is being found in existence of the sweet spacey pad, it got me thinking back on the memories I had with Hernan on his annual Woodstock’69 parties in Bloemendaal aan Zee. So during the Covidius era it got me thinking back about the moments.. these missing times. Such a beautiful location here in Holland.

Mike Griego returns to the label with an incredible new EP. 

Enigmatic and unique, Mike Griego has carved out a flourishing career and his musically rich signature sound has been making waves for nearly 15 years. Signed to a number of influential labels including Replug, Tale + Tone and Balance Music, Mike feels at home with expressing his artistic vision through progressive house. 

Opening the EP with 'A Lydian Prophacy' disco bass and bongo rhythms combine with eerie synthlines for a wondrous soundscape affair. Mellow and hypnotic, the melodics ebb and flow through out creating different textures and feels. Continuing the theme, 'New School Prog' serves as somewhat a blueprint of the direction progressive house might take. Dubby and detailed, each element has a place; never feeling rushed and overused. 'Outta Time' acts perfectly as the finalé with it's subtle intro whetting the appetite perfectly. Deep, groovy, and utterly Griego, this is a stand out EP from a producer at the top of his game.

Ian O’Donovan marks his long awaited debut on Sudbeat with the ‘Indian Summer EP’ 

Bursting onto the scene in 2010 with a flurry of releases for several seminal labels, his smooth techy sound was already light years ahead of the game, winning him high profile fans such as Dave Clarke, Laurent Garnier and more. 
Over a very short timescale he has amassed a phenomenal back catalogue signing for Kevin Saunderson’s legendary KMS, Carl Cox’ Intec and Sasha’s LNOE. 

His triptych begins with ‘Indian Summer’ a sparse melodic cut inspired, as many of Ian’s track, by the sounds of Detroit and refined in his native Dublin. Powerful and understated the energy rises slowly punctuated briefly by an almost ambient break. Heads down vibes for the cooler floors. 

Next up, ‘The Initiation’ heads down a darker drummy, reese bass-led path. Stirring like a sleepy animal after hibernation, the fierce low end is tempered by earworm hooks which reach feverpitch for the final drop. 

Finally, ‘Empyrean Eclipse’ rounds out the pack with gusto. With a cheeky nod to Bladerunner a theme throughout, the groove is deep and menacing, showcasing Ian’s breadth of style to a tee.

GMJ and Matter make their return to Sudbeat with an astonishing three track EP. 

Studio partners for years, the pair have carved out a niche sound that captures both artists’ love of electronic music and the souring soundscapes that conjure visceral memories on dancefloors the world over. Signed to everyone from Balance Music to Replug their no nonsense beats are a crowd favourite. 

Opening with ‘Arkeron’ The duo pick up from where they left off on their recent Showcrates offering, ‘Atunga’. Tough drums and rubbery bass framework a delicate arps and icy blasts of pad. A perfect heads down groover. 

‘Soular’ walks a slightly deeper path. Emotional and hypnotic, vocal adlibs and impactful sonics warmly greet you and entice you out onto the floor. A masterpiece of sound design that showcases the duo’s incredible connection. 

Finally, ‘Nassaukade’ hammers home the deepness with a groovy, low slung vibe for the early mornings just before sunrise. Rising slowly the synths are full of eastern promise and hopefulness. I fine ending to an outstanding collection of tracks.

El Maestro teams up with Mercurio for a two-track extravaganza.

One of Argentina's pioneer dj, later producer and family man, Hernan Cattaneo wears many hats in his life, all of which fit him very well. A lifelong disciple of music, his influence can be felt in every generation of music fans. Another lifelong fan of music, guitarist and music producer Mercurio broke on to the scene two decades ago and has worked with Hernan recently, releasing their collaborations "A380" on Cercle Records and 'Stereo' on DAR.

Opening with 'San Fancisco' a deep soulful beat quickly grows into a pulsating mid set groover filled with wonky FX and a menacing tone. Minimalistic by design, the analogue synths work their magic reaching fever pitch midway and letting loose for the final section. A tour de force for the pair.

On the flipside, 'Away' is a deep groover with bags of personality. Sparse percussion allows the melodics acres of space to weave their tale into the fabric of the listeners mind. A proper sonic journey you want to never end.

Following a remix appearance of Chris Liebing on Nicole Moudaber’s MOOD imprint last year, the pair now team up on Liebing’s celebrated CLR imprint for ‘I Will Be A Devil Until I Am An Angel’ this November.

First up, ‘Watch Me Choose You’ launches with a clap-heavy groove shot through with bleeps and squelches, a subtle serpentine acid-line woven among its sturdy drums. It’s a high-intensity, peak-time offering followed by ‘When You Are Near’, another dancefloor bomb which continues with additional bursts of acid sprayed on top of its cavernous kick drums before dropping into a mind-melting frenzy at the halfway mark.

Premiere: Chris Liebing & Nicole Moudaber - When You Are Near [CLR112]

After the success of his debut EP in June 2023, Verche now returns to Particles with his "Into the Light" that combines a trio of original tracks with remixes from Croatian and Australian artists.

Marin Roncevic has been a powerful force in the Progressive House and Melodic House & Techno genres through his Verche soubriquet. Since a 2013 debut, some 250 production credits have shone over a decade on such labels as Heath Mill Recordings, Bonzai Progressive, System Recordings and the October 2023 "Saints & Sinners" album on Sangria. Making his full Particles EP debut in mid-2023, "Riptide" lit up the Croatian's credentials as he now returns. The title track immediately commands listener attention with its chugging rhythmic intensity and beautifully sculpted piano motifs. Easily transforming into dramatically cadenced sequences, "Into the Light" rises and falls with dramatic and spine-tingling intensity. The chunky rhythmic foundation of "Night at the Velvet Mountain" is quickly developed into an innovatively and intriguingly created melodic sequence that evolves through repeated note patterns. Thickly textured pads and floating vocal phrasing add to the sonic collage as it develops more traditional dancefloor characteristics in the second half. The mellifluous tones of "Sweet Desert drift over a head-shaking groove and heavy beat as a rich sub-bassline adds weight aplenty. Delicately crafted, layers of soundscape build upon each other with shimmering intensity, subtle vocal intonations and emotive chord progression.

Petar Dundov has been a musical revelation for a quarter of a century since he burst onto the melodic techno scene in late-2001. Some 400 production credits later and Petar has been a mainstay of Sven Väth's Cocoon Recordings, DAYS like NIGHTS, Sudbeat Music and Bedrock Records. A regular on Proton Music with his "Salvation" and "Spark" EPs in December 2020 and October 2021, a pair of Particles remixes for Chihaka and Gaston Ponte in 2021 and 2023 are now followed by a third as Petar Dundov remixes his fellow countryman. Taking on "Into the Light", a trademark sound comes flooding through as cascading and grooved arpeggios build upon each other over a huge sub-bassline and immaculate club groove. Evolving easily, familiar melodic patterns from Verche's original come to the fore, combined with gorgeous and shimmering keys. Waxing and waning a new synth lead arrives post-breakdown against the ordered chaos of the original.

Another artist with strong production credentials, Dave Leck arrives on Particles once more after the success of a quartet of original EPs between 2019 and 2024. Thus "Stardust", "Primal Connection", "Elevate" and "Opal" have showcased the Australian's talent in addition to his work for 3rd Avenue, Soundteller Records and a half-century of credits for Nick Lewis' Emotional Content Recordings. Now reworking "Sweet Desert", the Dave Leck remix builds upon the melodic phrasing found in Verche's original and transforms it into a seething club-friendly powerhouse. A deeply resonant kick, ticking hats and cavernous bassline are juxtaposed against cascading arpeggios that pan the stereo spectrum at the beatless breakdown, before combining effortlessly with the metronomic rhythm in the second half to create a mesmerising and free-flowing interpretation.
