Delivering the goods for the next Sudbeat instalment it’s the label very own Graziano Raffa who dons his producer hat again for the ‘Sparking Plugs’ EP. 

An addict to DJ culture, the Italian managed to build a reputation within the scene thanks to his tireless work behind the curtains of the label but not only that. Always blending all shapes of house and techno, his productions and dj sets helped him to reach some of the finest spots within the nightlife Eden, boasting appearances in top venues like Stereo, Warung, Ministry of Sound, Forja, Nom or Barutana, just to name a few. 

Opening with ‘Sparking Plugs’ a bumpty beat and carefully layered percussion reveals delicate samba-esque rhythms. As the bass drops the track toughens up for the dancefloor in fine form. Disco synth and airy orchestral pads fill the mid section as the track reaches fever pitch ready for the final drive for the finish. 

‘Love Stories’ takes a deeper path. Stripped back percs and a spiky bass add low end grunt, while pretty arp flurries and vibing keys are like mind candy for the soul. Finally ‘One More Star’ delves deep into dubby prog territory. A total journeyman track, each new element adds soul and class.

Ruben Karapentyan’s RKP travels to Argentina for their 25th offering, welcoming Soulmade to the label for his debut single. Based in Rosario, Nahuel V aka Soulmade has gained considerable momentum since adopting the Soulmade moniker in 2020. Armed with a progressive style that often finds a cohesive balance between the new and old school sounds of the genre, it was Soulmade’s first ever release, an EP project for Just Movement, which set the course for subsequent standout offerings via Balkan Connection, Droid9, Strangers Beats, Univack and more across the next three calendar years. Now, as 2024 reaches its second half, Soulmade continues on an upwards trajectory, adding RKP to his resume with ‘Ground Under’, alongside remixes from Kebin Van Reeken and Teom.

The first interpretation of ‘Ground Under’ is provided by Kebin Van Reeken who makes his label debut. Hailing from the Netherlands but now calling Argentina home, Kebin has made significant strides since emerging in 2019. Often finding a cohesive balance between progressive and melodic house and techno, the Cordoba resident has taken his cross-genre style to Beat Boutique, Freegrant Music, Traful, Sound Avenue, and his own Venture Records imprint, the latter of which acts as his primary home. With 2024 being highlighted by projects for Mango Alley, Univack and a standout remix for Mike Koglin and Moodfreak, Kebin now makes his RKP debut with a groovy rendition of ‘Ground Under’. Landing with a resounding thump, Kebin finds success with a tighter, dancefloor minded approach. Punchy kick drums and spacious grooves marry beautifully with flickering percussion and charming atmospheres as the first act takes shape. Hopeful pads and trance inducing melodies take centrestage across the main break, bringing equal amounts of anticipation and serenity, before a striking vocal sample cues a stripped drop and percussion driven finale.

Bursting onto the Progressive House scene in mid-2020, Fausto Javier Loza has carved out quite a name for himself with his FJL production moniker. Since a debut on Balkan United, the Argentinean producer has found his music allied to such esteemed imprints as sister Madlochs Sound Avenue and 3rd Avenue, Roger Martinezs HIGHER STATES and Mangos all-conquering Mango Alley. Now the Rosario resident from the province of Sante Fe, debuts on Proportion with a 3-track EP of the highest order as FJL presents his Alter Ego / Losstower / Rare Wizards EP. With a deep, fizzing bassline narrative running throughout the triptych, Alter Ego is a chunky rhythmic powerhouse that sees a chest-thumping kick paired with a deliciously grooved bass pattern creating a sublime rolling pattern. A kaleidoscopic array of effects and risers are scattered across the 6-minute piece as a delicate arpeggiated melody gradually evolves from the low-end foundation.
