Hello and welcome back to PFG The Progcast, our weekly trek around the world of Planet Prog. This week we begin a monthly tour of the British Isles, taking in established acts and more new talent along the way. starting with this multi talented DJ/Producer combination. Ladies and Gents PFG are proud to introduce.... CYBERNALIA!!

Cybernalia are Arkis Elwood (42) and Bryan Corr (40) from Bangor Co.Down Northern Ireland. Both Arkis and Bryan been involved in the Northern Irish Dance scene for over 25 years , Djing in most of the Province's clubs since the early 1990's.
The Duo began producing their own music in 2010 which ranges from House/Progressive/Techno through to Indie. They made their production debut in 2011 on Baroque Records with their first EP 'Pictures/Blind Faith'. Since then they have gone on to release over 100 Original Tracks and Remixes on Labels such as Stellar Fountain , Suffused Music , Sounds Of Juan , Baroque , Electronic Tree , Rimoshee , Groove Life Records and the Mainstay of their material with the renowned Stripped Muzik Management brand where in 2018 Stripped Recordings released Cybernalia's first full 16 Track Studio Album titled 'Little Heroes' which went Top 10 across many genres on all major platforms.

 The following year Cybernalia independently released their latest Album 'Poisoned April' , a massive 50 track offering containing a full spectrum of their musical genres from Chillout through to Techno which can be obtained through their Soundcloud page.

Currently the pair are focused on creating their own local events under the mantle of 'Cybernalia Presents' concentrating in their hometown of Bangor Northern Ireland with very successful  nights in the Rabbit Rooms and a continual booking of dates currently with the Hop House. They base their events on an intimate style club night focusing on a music policy of House & Techno and a dedicated following increases with every event.

Australian Zankee Gulati makes his debut on The Soundgarden with his two-tracker, ‘Visionary/Fika’.

‘Visionary’ is first up – and, if there was ever a track that seemed custom-built to immediately command the attention of anyone within earshot, then we may well have found it. Organic drums start the track and are joined by layers of ethereal synth pads and a reverberated vocal sample. Together they create a genuinely affecting piece of electronic music, before a devilishly catchy synthesiser refrain is thrust into the mix at the halfway point to top it all off in style.

‘Fika’ is left with the unenviable task of following up – but, fortunately, it more than delivers. It’s a more nuanced affair than its predecessor; more urgent, perhaps, but still with that ethereal feel that Zankee is known for. You’ll feel like you’ve been transported back to a summertime dancefloor. 

'I had the main melodies for both the tracks in my mind before I even started making them’, explains Zankee of the production processes behind the tracks. ‘So, both the tracks were made around the melody in mind, which is a little different to my usual approach of starting the tracks. Both the tracks have this hypnotic blend of vocals and arps which really takes you to a special place where nothing else matters’.

‘I always had The Soundgarden in mind while making this EP and it makes me super happy that Nick had the same feeling about it. I hope this music makes you feel a little happy during these tough times and you all enjoy it as much as I enjoyed creating it'.

This week Starship PFG takes you back to the UK, and the home of one the country's most respected club brands, with a twist! In line with their recent Engage series, PFG are excited to bring you this, very different take on our podcasts, we're sure you're going to love this. Ladies & Gents... Marcus James!

I was delighted to be asked to contribute to the PFG Progcast so big thanks to the crew for the offer.

My ‘Lowdown In Lockdown’ mix is a 108-112BPM, downbeat trip through a variety of genres. I wanted to do something a bit different for a number of reasons. Firstly, I am very aware there’s a lot of club music out there right now and, in lockdown, it may not be the best environment in which to appreciate it; Secondly, I spend a good chunk of the month listening to 120-125BPM tracks, both for the Sound Of Renaissance, which I compile and mix, and the label, so it was great to be able to step outside of that. Thirdly, the thing that has inspired me most over the recent months was Dave Seaman’s Engage. As you may be aware, we record those Engage’s ahead of time and then add all the post-production, so in the meantime I get to listen to the audio. I go walking a lot these days and I pretty much had that on repeat for days. It’s a really enjoyable listen and, returning to my earlier point, I thought people may appreciate something more accessible they can have on in the background whilst lockdown part 2 continues, certainly for the UK at least. 

It’s a curated mix in so much as I chose the tracks based on merit, not timeline; it’s not a showcase of unreleased material from top flight producers that no one may hear for months either. Much of these downbeat tracks seem to stand the test of time better anyway. For me, the goal was to get the mix to hang together and, despite the varying ages of the tracks, make it sound cohesive. It took a while to come together, but it was fun to work on; I hope people enjoy it as much as I did creating it, Marcus.
