SUNI'S ODE

Beat Battle 110 hosted by friend @abbey8k -  To make an "Amapiano" track. OK, so I had to do a bit of research here (as I had no clue). Log drum bass (thanks for the free log drum from Decent Sampler/Piano Book), Drums courtesy of UJAM's new "KAYA" Beatmaker plugin and Piano from Heavyocity's "Allure" felt upright. Just a question of layering various synths and instruments on top. I relied heavily on Arturia's free Amapiano preset pack for Pigments for most of the other elements. Not sure I nailed the genre - it might be a bit too different from most Amapiano tracks out there...

In a quiet apartment scattered with the remnants of a long night, empty glasses, fragments of music, and reflections from a cold window, a man sits alone replaying memories of someone who’s gone. The world outside still moves, parties continue, laughter echoes through thin walls, but inside, everything has stopped.

Each verse paints the still life of heartbreak: old songs, photographs, and promises that never came true. The piano and guitar trace the fragile rhythm of memory, while the clock keeps spinning, indifferent. He moves through the same rituals of living, putting on his jacket, walking through rain-soaked streets, pretending that he’s fine, even as the fire of loss keeps burning in his chest.

The pre-choruses are moments of surrender, a candle lit against the wind, a smile he can’t remember, the soft collapse of acceptance. The bridge whispers an even deeper truth: maybe the love he mourns was built on illusion, maybe the loneliness was always there, waiting. The music swells as he faces this realization, the full band crashing like the heart’s final protest before silence.

By the end, the sound fades, just piano and a delayed guitar echoing into the night. He plays the same record again, hoping that maybe sleep or a dream will bring her back for just a moment. But when the dawn comes and the light goes out, he’s left in the only place that still feels real: the room where her absence has become his home.

A story of grief disguised as routine, where the world dances on and one soul quietly learns how to live inside the fire.
