@peverelist is one of those artist’s whose legacy is already assured. His labels Punch Drunk and Livity Sound have been at the cutting edge of their own unique musical niches for more than a decade. Fusing their native Bristol’s history of dub, sound system culture and bass, their output deals in endlessly fascinating genre mutations that continue to push electronic music forward. Peverelist’s own captivating rhythms and precise sound designs have always been at the heart of that, bridging the gap between hypnotic techno and heavy bass. 

And that’s the path he heads down on this week’s mix. The one hour selection weaves a thread through all the sounds you’d find in his orbit - stripped back beat science and Gqom, UK funky and mesmeric dub techno. Always stripped back but never devoid of character, this is physical yet meditative music that taps into that deep desire we all have inside: to move to the sound of pounding drums.

Al Wootton is a producer, DJ, artist and operator of the record labels TRULE and Amidah Recordings. Through his own releases and those on his label he navigates the zone between Techno, Dub, UK Garage, and sparse, hypnotic percussion workouts. He is also one third of the band Holy Tongue.

As a DJ, producer and label head, Felix K’s singular perspective and approach has been an ongoing source of inspiration across the scene since the early 00's. From seminal work on his own array of imprints to key performances at events around the world (including an unforgettable set at a Patterns of Perception party in 2019), Felix’s vision has been, and continues to be, both influential and indelible.

For Patterns of Perception 100, Felix drew upon his vast knowledge (and record collection) to compile an ambitious four-hour mix which traces the spirit and lineage of both fundamental and contemporary sounds across the wider breakbeat/UK scene.
Beginning the journey with foundational dub, Felix layers modern counterpoints of breaks, jungle and dnb, in the process highlighting connections, overlaps and inspirations that have taken place across years, generations and eras.
The result is almost encyclopaedic in its depth and scope, but with an approachable energy that channels the warmth of mixtape culture. It is a  fascinating and compelling undertaking from a true head, with a presence that feels both fresh and timeless.

"When Bleep.com asked me to contribute a mix to their series in honour of the publication of the new edition of my book Join The Future: Bleep Techno and the Brith of British Bass Music, I quickly decided that I wanted to showcase my love of bleep & bass old and new, but also throw in sub-heavy cuts made at different points since the ‘90s – after all, one of the key arguments in the book is that bleep had a profound impact on the future direction of British dance music. The new afterword chapter, written last autumn, also references the recent wave of revivalist bleep productions, so I wanted to give a flavour of those too.

So, there are important innovators (Unique 3, Nightmares on Wax, LFO, and Sweet Exorcist), overlooked or under-celebrated acts (Rhythmatic, Tomas), a nod to the short-lived NYC bleep and breakbeat hardcore scene (How & Little), a couple of sub-heavy 1990 workouts from London (Moody Boys, the Leftfield produced ‘Difference’ by Djum Djum), a dash of bleep & breaks (Bass Culture, an early Rennie Pilgrem project), recent revivalist bleep cuts (DAWL, iNFO, Dan Piu, Tom Carruthers), some mid-90s Brummie dub house (Rockers HiFi), sub-heavy 21st century workouts (SuPaFiX, Toddla T remixing Working Men’s Club, Bakey), tons of my own re-edits (over the years I’ve amassed a sizable library of ‘Join The Future edits’ as I call them) and even a completely unreleased (though re-edited) Tuff Little Unit track, ‘Blow Up The System’. Oh, and the crazy dancefloor dub that is Alfanso’s Rob Gordon-produced ‘Dub Feels Nice (Version 4)’, which is exclusively available on the Join The Future:UK Bleep & Bass 88-91 compilation on JD Twitch’s Cease & Desist label (which is, of course, available via bleep.com).

Shed is arguably one of the most diverse electronic music makers of our times and clearly one of our favorites.
Since his first release in 2004 on Delsin, followed by several albums on Ostgut Ton and his own Soloaction imprint, René Pawlowitz has established himself as one of the best contemporary techno artists and delivered essential releases on labels like 50 Weapons, Monkeytown, XL Recordings, Warp Records, Tectonic and Power House.
René is a raver at heart with a penchant for broken beats, which he expresses through various monikers such as Head High, WK7 and The Higher, to name a few.
With his latest project Hoover1, he has stepped deeper into jungle/drum bass territory.
Counting four releases so far, Hoover1 offers essential bass music that ranges from jungle to dnb to hardcore breaks. 
After smashing the Low_End Collective dance floor back in October, we are proud to present you the first ever Hoover1 mix, an one hour trip down the jungle, dnb, hardcore breaks and bass lane - we hope you enjoy it as much as we do. Amen!

The Suicide Club (fka Suicide Circus) is one of the most traditional and established techno clubs in Berlin, with a large dance floor in the centre, an open-air floor, cutting-edge electronic music and a cosy outdoor terrace/beer garden.
The club has everything you need for a perfect techno night: reduced exterior, dark corners, fog machine, industrial-style dance floor, mystical lighting and a fat sound system.
The name of the club "Suicide" refers to the band "Suicide", which paved the way for later minimal techno back in the 70s with synthesizers and drum computers.
