Low_End Cast 003 w/ GIORDANO

Italian bred/Berlin based artist Giordano, has been quite active in the studio, even pre lockdown, with an impressive array of releases on labels like Soma, Konsequent, Granulart Records, Decision Making Theory, Affekt Recordings, Wunderblock Records, Illegal Alien, Sävy Records and his own outlet Senza Nome.

On the DJ front, aside from being a regular at About Blank and Salon Zur Wilden Renate, we saw him owning decks and dance floor at Tresor, Suicide and a few other venues around Berlin. Outside the German capital, he has performed at some of London's best underground venues, BLOC & Corsica Studios, and also at Milan's Dude Club.

Behind the decks, Giordano's style is, quite impressive, consisting of an eclectic mix between classic and contemporary techno, electro and breaks. 
A combination of dark, driving, melodic sounds and a dash of flamboyance that forms the basis of his sets. 

Listening to his sets you can easily tell that this man has a soft spot for hardcore breaks, drum n bass and jungle. And his one of the coolest dudes around. Just made sense for us asking him to mix the next chapter of Low_End Cast - and what a killer of a mix he delivered 🔊 🔊 🔊

For the 56th episode of our SC podcast we invited GLSKY, who some of you know as the lively technician who does the streams for our Transmission :: Berlin series.

In the bio text of his collective Bipølar. in which he has been involved for several years and which is very active in the Berlin scene, we found the following:

Low_End Cast 004 w/ AEON FLUX

On Low_End Cast 04, one of Leipzig's best underground musicians and one of the generals of Defrostatica Records, Aeon Flux, takes the helm. 

Aeon Flux fell deeply in love with breakbeats in the early 90s. A love that started with UK hardcore and jungle, grew with drum and bass, never stopped exploring boundaries and currently finds its fulfillment in very bass-heavy music like footwork, juke and ghetto house.

She was a member of the infamous position:underground crew, ran a few music-related online forums along the way, hosted a few radio shows, threw a bunch of parties and has currently settled down as part of the team that runs Defrostatica Records. 

Enjoy this mix which features Jungle, Footwork, Juke and Ghetto House at its best (including some previously unreleased cuts).

Suicide Podcast 57 : ANRI

We are pleased to welcome Anri to our mix series and as part of our SC family with episode 57. 
The Japanese DJ and producer has been fascinated by electronic music since 1999 after her first contact in Tokyo. Before moving to Berlin in 2014, she was an active member of Melbourne's thriving techno scene for several years, which inspired and influenced her.

She has also continued to indulge her passion in Berlin and, among other things, created the event and mix series [ˈYO͞ONƏˌSEKS].
With years of experience behind the decks on many stages from clubs to festivals, Anri has developed a unique techno sound that moves from experimental and challenging techno to melodic and deep, taking the dancing crowd on a journey into inner spaces held by her gentle feminine power.

All this, coupled with her friendly nature, was reason enough for us to invite her to be part of our community - hear for yourself and enjoy.

For the fifth episode of the Low_End Cast, we are proud to present The Untouchables. 

Known as Dj Kay & Dj Nitrox, the outfit started making noise around the turn of the millennium. 
The Untouchables' sound is bass-heavy, tech-influenced, avant-garde and at the same time influenced by oldskool. 

Kay's ability to blend heavy bass-lines and percussion is unparalleled. 
The oldskool influences of yesteryear are key to her approach to drum and bass.

Nitrox is the co-founder of the original Universal Project. 
He has released tracks as U.P (and with Keaton) on established labels such as Renegade Hardware, Freak Recordings, Quarantine, Virus, True Playaz and Advance to name a few. 

The outfit has an impressive catalogue of releases on genre defining labels such as Samurai Music, Rupture, Cylon, Renegade Hardware, 457, Transaltion, Alphacut and Mutable Beats.

Behind the decks, The Untouchables are a force to be reckoned with. They always deliver a heavyweight selection of sounds that come from the deeper, tribal dub side of the bass universe.
That's what this dubplate-heavy mix is all about, featuring mostly their beats with killer additions from Homemade Weapons, ReSound, Mantra and Presha.

Finally we have made a recording of one of our favourite regular guests at our club. Enjoy this amazing set of one of the most substantial figures around in electronic music!

Electric Indigo, DJ, composer, musician, has performed in 36 countries across Europe, Asia, and the Americas. Her name stands for the intelligent and distinguished interpretation of techno and electronic music. Her dj sets are characterized by a wide variety with a clarity of vision, and a depth that only comes from a deep understanding of the music and the art of the DJ. As a composer and musician, she emphasizes the spatial-temporal placement of subtly textured sounds. She received the "outstanding artist award Musik 2012" in the field of electronic music and computer music and the national grant for composition 2013 from the Austrian Federal Ministry for Education, Arts and Culture.

Currently, Electric Indigo works on her first solo album.

Electric Indigo started her DJ career in Vienna 1989 and lived in Berlin for three years [1993-1996] to work at the legendary Hard Wax record store. In those years, she also began to produce her own music, first releases came out in 1993. In 1998, Electric Indigo founded female:pressure an international database and network for female DJs, producers, and visual artists in the fields of electronic music that was awarded with an honorary mention atPrix Ars Electronica 2009. In 2002, she discovered her passion for experimental music and started to play live. Meanwhile, she gives concerts in the realms of avant-garde as well as club music. Institutions like the University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna, the University of Fine Arts Vienna, and the University of Applied Arts Vienna commonly invite Electric Indigo as a guest lecturer. 2013 she wrote the monthly column "bonustrack" for an.schläge magazine.

Important works in recent years comprise compositions like "Structuring Contours" - premiere at Klangspuren Festival 2011, her 5 channel compositions "RRHONFEER-RRHEFNEOR" for Moozak Festival 2012, and "Chiffres" - premiere at e_may / Wien Modern 2012, as well as her 8 channel pieces for the radical opera "ABSTRIAL" and "something wicked" for hoergeREDE together with author Olga Flor 2013.

TANITH is a techno institution. Not only was he one of the very first techno djs in Berlin, but in opposition to many others he has kept his integrity by redefining his sound constantly instead of repeating himself with what made him successful at some point.
We are glad to have him as a resident in our club and are looking forward to many more nights with this man behind the decks.

WOLLE XDP has been at the forefront of techno right from the start. His raves called "XDP" (Exstasy Dance Project) were amongst the very first rave parties in Germany. He ran clubs such as Pfefferbank and Discount in the 90s and has been DJ-ing ever since. Check out his latest mix, recorded at our birthday bash this year. We are happy to have him as a resident in our club!


Suicide Circus Podcast 22 : WOLLE XDP

Ben Long (Space DJz) is a veteran of Techno. There are few DJs and producers in the modern techno world who can truly claim to have pioneered a style and sound, and call it their own.  Such statements are often declared, but rarely justified. In the case of Ben Long and his partner in the Space DJz, Jamie Bissmire (also known for his part in the ground breaking dub techno group, Bandulu), this claim would be unarguable. Releasing their debut EP on the infamous Infonet label they have also released on labels such as Soma, Kombination Research, Synewave and their own imprints Ground and Potential Recordings.  More recently Ben released a his first solo EP for EPM Music titled “Toltec” which featured remixes from Darko Esser aka Tripeo and Detroit Grand Pubahs.  DJing to them is an art, and with over 20 years on the world circuit, whether performing together or individually they have the knowledge and experience to rock any party. 
We are pround to have him as a regular guest for the EPM nights at our club!

Suicide Circus Podcast 24 : BEN LONG

Turntables Deejay, resident at DaDa Revoulution  Berlin 

Born in 1979 in a could city on the north of Italy. In the early 90s -  thanks to a friend Lorenzo Trovato - he starts to discover the world of electronic music and learned the art of mixing with turntables. 

He grew up like a DJ with innovative sounds like: Zen Paradox, The future Sound of London, Sound System, Spiral Tribe and many more. In 1996 he leaves his hometown and until now he split between two continents - USA and Europe.

Now his home base is Berlin and Suicide Circus is his first address to play and run parties. Besides of that he has played in clubs such as Tresor, Golden Gate, Griessmühle, Urban Spree and many other events, namely Krake Festival and Killekill. 

Motto: no digital and no cheesy 
Style: Techno but undefined

Ben Long:
"I first met Robert Hood in the early 90s in the London Club Lost. It was his debut in the UK. I was a big fan and follower of his music. Robert was wearing a trilby hat which I thought this was super cool and slightly unusual. After his set I congratulated him on a great job and introduced myself. He was kind and humble and gave me a white label from the M-Plant label which I still have in my record collection to this day.

The music that Robert Hood makes for me is one of the purest forms of Techno there is. He has stuck to his artistic vision and kept his sound true to himself and the roots of Techno / Electronic music. Which lets be honest, these days is an admirable thing to do when so many artists and DJs have thrown all their integrity out the window and sold their soul to the devil just to try and make a quick buck or be a superstar DJ. 

I have only DJed with Robert once before and it was an honour to say the least and I’m very much looking forward to sharing the DJ booth once again with him at Suicide Circus. I have made this tribute mix to celebrate the man the artist and the legend that is Robert Hood. I hope you enjoy!"

For the first Festplatten Night in 2017 the Teichmann Brothers invited 3 friends and fellows and grande dames of techno culture to the Suicide Circus.
DJ and musician Electric Indigo is a key figure of the austrian electronic culture.
She´s an awarded musician and networker, her dj sets reflect a deep understanding of music, always in search of fresh sound and rhythm textures in the techno context.
Her longtime DJ fellow Acid Maria is one of our absolute favorites since the electronic age. 
Her sets combine the history of innovative techno music: geographically a journey from Detroit to Chicago, but also from Munich, via Cologne to Berlin, Acid Maria always finds those special link, were the 909 combines techno with this specific to the bone reduced funk & soul groove, and so creates those moments were you are 100% sure why this music and culture is so kicking.
Dj Mo came from Düsseldorf to Berlin, just after the wall. She became part and driving force of the upcoming Berlin clubculture.
Her way leaded from her first club Elektro, over the label collective Elektro Music Department to her own artist agency Media Loca and the yearly festival "Heroines Of Sound". All this experience and diversity reflects in dj-sets, that are rare diamonds in Berlins nightlife.
Mo, Electric Indigo & Acid Maria are also cofounders and driving forces of the female:pressure network.
The evening is hosted and musically grounded by the Gebrüder Teichmann.

Welcome aboard our next trip into the wide electro world. On the bridge this time we have an experienced crew at the controls of our spacecraft: BORIS DIVIDER, NAKS and AXIOM. In the machine-room, VCS2600 will ensure that we can easily navigate through both new and known worlds.

BORIS DIVIDER may be familiar to many. There is a lot of vinyl material from him on his label Drivecom since the beginning of the 2000s and since the end of 2014 he has been running some digital releases on his new label Artifical Domain.
Coming from "Basselona" and now finally visiting Berlin, he won't disappoint with his long-standing experience and confident style. Bass, beats and sonic boom! All this and more will be proven to us on the decks. We are only out of the house and can barely keep our feet still!

VCS2600, hailing from Finland, has already calibrated his machines and will deliver the finest electro sound for our listening pleasure. It's surprising that he's only brought us two releases under the name so far. But to release on Luke Eargoggle's label Stilleben, as well as on Rikos, speaks for quality. Extraterrestrial funky machine Electro, just right for us.

NAKS, who has been in Berlin for some time now, is musically well and broadly versed. Techno-Acid-Boogy-Wave and more. He presents us with a fine selection of his electro vision, we're in safe hands here. As a resident at Magic Waves and co-founder of the label Vortex Traks, he has proven good taste. With the likes of Morphology, Kan3da and Mesak etc. having already released on this label, there's no need for further references.

AXIOM, who is hosting the X: Ploration series, will of course be setting the tone as resident, and will look to get the perfect connection between them all. His warmup set is sure to bring electro from all corners together and deliver truly decent sound.

Tie your galactic dance boots, clean your ears and find a good place on the dance floor. Prepare for a long but pleasant journey where every electro freak will find what they're looking for.

The podcast will feature artists which have played in our club. With this we want to give you the possibility to recap the greatest parties at our beloved Suicide Circus, to fix highlights for the future or basically to listen to good music.
The first mix comes from PIERRE. Since the mid 90s, Pierre is listed among the most popular techno DJs in Germany. He gained wide spread respect and attention as resident DJ at Aufschwung Ost, the legendary club in Kassel, which was renamed Stammheim later. 

This set was recorded at Suicide Circus 2012-02-19.

Short and to the point
Pierre, 29, often-booked DJ, producer, label owner, legend of “Aufschwung Ost”, “Stammheim” and “Hotel Reiss”, began to organise parties at the tender age of 16, originally in a quiet village. Since he became twenty, he lost interest in public educational institutions and preferred to teach himself. Pierre has founded several companies, plagued his employees, earned and lost money, so he knows all about paying for experience.
Pierre’s perfect party takes place in an atmosphere free of rules yet cultivated, uses a good sound system, a stage set at head height with the crowd, delicious drinks and healthy, unrestrained people in a balanced mix of gender and social standing.
Pierre love(d) Stammheim, the Omen, the FUSE in Brussels, the Alive Festival at St. Vith and . The club culture of straightforward beats would benefit from an overhaul, he said. Asked whether he could imagine still playing in clubs at 40 or 50, he thought it would be “good”, although he refrained to answer. It doesn’t matter. By the way: Even the old pro DJ Pierre sometimes has stage fright, particularly when the gig means a lot to him.

Woody is the original sonic funkateer whose life is completely focused on music and his very own definition of FUNK. He’s a genuine kind of a guy, needing nothing more than two turntables, a mixer and an audience to know he’s alive. For him DJing and making music is not just a job, it's his destiny. Rewind back to the mid-80's when Woody started off in Munich's graffiti and breakdance scene. Alr eady a superb breakdancer, he soon became an even better DJ.
Woody played his first gigs in Munich`s famous "Babalu Club". Thanks to his God-given talent and hard work, Woody was soon getting booked into the techno clubs of Berlin, Cologne and Frankfurt. In 1992 Woody took the chance to become Resident DJ in Berlin’s best and most influential club concept "Planet", which later became the world-famous "E-Werk".
Woody's star rose to unbelievable heights as he completely controlled the crowd. His music brought this remarkable venue to life and his cross-pollenation style from deep pumping techno & smokin` house to electrofunk and several oldschool classics was a blueprint for numerous DJs who heard and saw Woody play. He rocked the house and laid the foundation for Berlin`s nightlife fame, playing a key role in the genesis of Berlin`s own club sound. Since then Woody has become one of Germany’s most respected DJs. Woody has travelled all over continental Europe (including the east), Scandinavia, USA, Central America, Israel, Asia like Japan and Thailand to spin in virtually every (good) club, showing off his unique track selection and brilliant DJ skills. Other remarkable highlights of Woody`s thrilling DJ career are his annual appearences at the Love Parade finale with over 1,5 Million people in Berlin. On his home patch, Woody always likes to run his own club nights where the guest program is decided by him, as well as supervising the visual aspect, which is an important element of the nightlife experience: perfect music and special visuals! His earlier residency in Berlin was his monthly “Klub Berlin”, where he already invited international guests. Actually he's regularly playing at the Watergate and organise his own Sunday Open Air After hour Party named Electronic Waves, where most respected DJs and Live Acts played so far. Like Ricardo Villalobos, Guido Schneider, Matt John, My My, Efdemin, Ben Klock, the Fumakilla Family and many more… Woody is also the man behind the extremely successful Fumakilla Label which he launched in 2000 after he finished the production of his first tracks. Its aim is to become a homebase for lots of upcoming producers and the definition of modern clubfunk. Due to the fact that his first ever remix (Woody vs. Kissogramm "If I had known this before") directly entered the German charts, he`s now one of the most sought after remixers in Germany. In 2002 he remixed the likes of Felix da Housecat and 2-Raumwohnung. His Tracks and Remixes played by key players like Carl Craig, Josh Wink, Laurent Garnier, Derrick May, Sven Väth, Ricardo Villalobos. His first album “Selected Works 2002-2006” released 2008 is deep and a good balance between old and new school. There you can find fresh and modern sounds but also a retrospection of his work. His production combines quality undergroud music with a strong international appeal and the potential to attract a bigger audience. You can hear the influences of Chicago Jack-House, Detroit Techno and his B-Boy definition of sound. In every single track you can trace Woody’s talent for minimal changes in the melody which catch just about every crowd. If you need to give it a name, file under FUMAKILLA FUNK.

Noch zwei Tage, bis Ken Ishii endlich wieder bei uns an den Reglern steht. Um die Wartezeit zu verkürzen und die Vorfreunde noch ein bisschen mehr anzukurbeln lassen wir unsere innigste On-Off Beziehung, den Suicide Circus Podcast, nach einem knappen Jahr wiederaufleben, natürlich mit einem exklusiven Mix von Ken Ishii höchstselbst. 
40 Episoden haben in den vergangenen 6 Jahren den Vibe unserer Partys ins heimische Wohnzimmer gebracht, die Zugfahrt untermalt, den Waschtag vertont oder auf den Rave eingestimmt. Hier reflektieren wir unser Booking, geben unseren Residents eine zusätzliche Spielwiese zum Austoben und stimmen uns auf die Abendveranstaltungen ein. Vor knapp zwei Jahren war Ken Ishii das letzte Mal bei uns zu Gast. Den Mitschnitt von der Party kam damals bereits so gut an, dass ein zusätzliches Take unbedingt hermusste. Nun kommt er endlich wieder nach Deutschland und exklusiv zu uns. Einen Mix hat er auch mitgebracht. 

Wenn es um Techno aus Japan geht gehört Ken Ishii zu den bekanntesten Vertretern. In den 90er Jahren machte er mit einer Reihe von Alben auf dem legendären britischen Label R&S auf sich aufmerksam. Neben seinem Debütalbum Garden On The Palm, das 1993 parallel zu einem Release als UTU auf Richie Hawtins Plus 8 Label erschien, war es insbesondere sein zweites Album Jelly Tones, mit dem er international bekannt wurde. So gestaltete unter anderem der bekannte Anime-Künstler Kōji Morimoto, der auch an dem Kultfilm Akira mitwirkte, das Musikvideo zur Single-Auskopplung Extra, die zum MTV Dance Video of The Year gewählt wurde. 
Ishii war und ist immer ein Vorreiter für modernen, zeitgenössischen Techno gewesen, der sich in keine Schublade stecken ließ. Stark von Detroit-Techno beeinflusst, spiegelt sich die Energie seiner Produktionen in seinen DJ-Sets und Mixtapes wieder. Viel Spaß beim Hören!

Hier kommt er endlich, unser neuer SC-Podcast, diesmal exklusiv zusammengestellt von Andre Kronert. 
ODD EVEN, sein Brainchild, ist laut Eigenauskunft eine Fusion von Gerade und Ungerade, von Licht und Dunkel und - Waveform & Transfer. Gegensätzlichkeiten im Techno zu vereinen ist eine besondere Kunst; es bedarf viel Gefühl diese ganz besonderen, schwebend-zeitlosen Momente zu kreieren, und es scheint als hätte sich Andre dieser Mission angenommen. 
Seine ureigene Vision von ODD EVEN demonstriert er hier in diesem seamless Mix, der durch sein konzentriertes Herangehen höhere Bewusstseinszustände erzeugt, selbst wenn Kronert bei den Basics bleibt. Gekonnt demonstriert er seine technischen Abilities die Hörer mit den packendsten Releases seines Labels immer weiter voranzutreiben. 

Mit Tracks von Artists wie Yotam Avni, Trackmaster Dre, Flug, Jeff Rushin, Fabrizio Rat, Boston 168 und Shlomi Aber vereint Kronert das hochkarätige Label output und demonstriert seine Vision von seamless Techno. Jenseits von Self-Promotion und Konzept schafft er es aber darüber hinaus, sich und andere mit dem Mix in eine Art Techno-Zen-Zustand zu versetzen. Von Bassdrum und High Hats getrieben und von klaren Flächen getragen erlebt man diese ganz bestimmten Höhenmomente, die einer Berggipfel-Besteigung nicht unähnlich sind. Da pusht einer jenseits der Limits ;-) 
Wer mehr will, was anzunehmen ist, kann sich diesen Freitag, dem 2. November bei der ODD EVEN Night, unter anderem mit Shlomi Aber, Kris Wadsworth und Labelchef Kornert selbst noch höher beamen lassen. Viel Spass beim Hören und bis Freitag ;-)

Arkada-Labelchefin und SC Resident Errorbeauty schließt das für sie extrem erfolgreiche Jahr 2018 mit einem komplexen Mix ab, den die speziell für die 43. Edition des Suicide Circus Podcasts aufgenommen hat. 
Mit den für sie typischen, komplexen aggressiven Techno-Breaks eröffnet sie auch sogleich ein abstraktes Soundscape-Panorama.

Cari Lekebusch, der an Silvester im Suicide Circus zu hören sein wird, freut sich schon hemmungslos aufs gemeinsame Feiern, was er in der Opening-Message des 44ten SC-Podcasts auch humorvoll rüberbringt. 

Was danach kommt, ist allerdings noch besser: Ungezügelte Energie, die in schönen Wellenformen immer weiter nach vorne treibt, und deren gnadenlos gute Zusammenstellung unzweifelhaft unter Beweis stellt, warum Cari nach wie vor einer der ganz Großen im Techno ist. 

Der „alte Schwede“, der einen direkten, schonungslosen Einstieg mit Jonas Kopps „Empty Planet“ hinlegt, mixt in zackigem Tempo feinsten Techno, bei dem jede shuffelnde Hihat sitzt und jede Bassdrum mit Nachdruck den Drive verstärkt. Hier ruled nicht dumpfe Brachialität. Gekonnt eingesetzte Filter und FX sorgen für Intelligenz und Shuffle. Finest stuff!

In dieser Folge unserer SC Podcast Serie präsentieren wir einen exklusiven Mix des seid Beginn der Neunziger aktiven DJ & Produzenten Jerome Hill aus London.  

Die schiere Dynamik und die beispiellose Kreativität der Sets von Jerome Hill, zusammen mit seinem Timing unerwartete Edelsteine in einem von ihm spontan geschaffenen Kontext fallen zu lassen, führen immer wieder zu Momenten die den wahren Rave-Geist symbolisieren.
Jerome, Gründer und Manager der Labels Don’t, Super Rhythm Trax, Bleeper & Fat Hop ist jedoch nicht nur durch seine aufregende Musikauswahl von neuen und alten Tracks zum Liebling des Publikums weltweit geworden, sondern ebenso durch sein außergewöhnliches Scratch- und Mixing Talent.

Suicide Circus Podcast 48 : DJ RUSH | 10 YEARS SUICIDE CIRCUS SPECIAL

DJ Rush ist eine Institution. Mit seinem unverwechselbarem Style mischt er nun schon seid Anfang der Neunziger weltweit die Clubs auf.

Auch den Suicide Circus in Berlin kann man als Institution bezeichnen. In diesem Jahr, genauer dieses Wochenende feiern wir unser 10 jähriges Bestehen auf dem RAW Gelände! 
Aber im Grunde stimmt die Jahreszahl „10“ nicht so ganz, denn die bewegte Vergangenheit des Clubs in den 90er Jahren bleibt bei der Rechnung außen vor.

Der SUICIDE CLUB eröffnete nämlich bereits im jungfräulichen Technozeitalter, konkret 1994 und in der Dircksenstrasse. Damals mit regelmässigen Auftritten von unter anderem: DJ Hell, Rok, Jonzon, Ellen Allien, Steve Bug, Electric Indigo, Clé, Tanith, Wolle XDP und eben DJ Rush.

Zu unserem Jubiläum beehrt uns Dj Rush mit zwei Überraschungen: zum Einen mit diesem exklusiven Mix in bekannter Rush Manier. Und zum Zweiten mit einem speziellen House Set, welches er Freitag Nacht in unserem Open Air Garten zum Besten geben wird. (mehr info siehe unten)

Wie fast jedes Jahr ist auch 2019 KEN ISHII wieder zu Gast bei uns in Berlin. Dieses Mal allerdings zu einem ganz besonderen Anlass.

Suicide Podcast 50 : ANDREA LJEKAJ

Andrea Ljekaj is a multi-award-winning producer and international DJ with releases on record labels like: Get Physical, Einmusika and Selador.

In 2019 Ljekaj started the successful "Croatia Gets Physical" EP series followed by release parties together with Get Physical Music, where they focus on Croatian artists and promoting their music.

On February 22nd we're bringing this idea, to promote local artists spiced up with international guests, into Suicide Club and starting with BERLIN GETS PHYSICAL. A concept where the imprint sets its sights on home turf to explore the sounds of a city that has had an immeasurable influence on dance music, of course with Andrea being one of the headliners. (more info below)

Previously Get Physical Music has cast its eye around the globe, offering a window into the local music scenes of South Africa, India, Brazil and more. So we're more than happy to give them a home in our beloved Club to feature such great talents to our local scene.

We're looking forward to host Andrea with his his weird, euphoric and powerful trademark sound which gained worldwide recognition, along side many other great artists on 22.02.20 at BERLIN GETS PHYSICAL.

Lana is an educated jazz pianist, electronic music DJ, promoter and producer - originally born and raised at the the dark russian forests of Karelia.

During her studies at the Jazz College she also got introduced to the production side of electronic music which quickly led to her first release on the Moscow based label Algoritmik Records as well as her first club residency. 

After relocating to Stockholm, where she developed her experience as DJ and producer but also as event promoter, she continuesly hosted parties in different venues, which ended up in the birth of her trendsetting brain child "ФОМО".

Next to supporting the underground and gay scene in Stockholm and St.Petersburg with the queer club KOXBOX and ФОМО, which also became a radio show on Fnoob Techno Radio, she meanwhile lives in Berlin where she keeps working on her music – we're glad to have her on board.

Suicide Podcast 52 : LANA LAIN

Podcast number 15 comes from Kenneth Christiansen, who runs the echocord label and also the regular echocord label nights at our club.
Kenneth Christiansen’s interest in electronic music goes back to 1991, when he started dj’ing on a small scale. In 1996 he moved from the countryside of Denmark to Copenhagen and started working in a recordshop. As years went by the interest became even bigger and in 1999 he opened his own recordshop, Science Fiction. At the same time he organized parties such as Simplicity club, which became a huge success in the Copenhagen underground. For almost a year Kenneth and two of his friends managed to present great electronic music for a steadily increasing crowd of people.
In 2001 he decided to close the shop Science Fiction, for instead to work in another recordshop called Loud, where he worked untill 2004, responsible for the electonic music.
In 2002 Kenneth founded the recordlabel Echocord. So far he has released artists like Mikkel Metal, Fenin, Anders Ilar, Andreas Tilliander, Thomas Fehlmann, Substance, Vainqueur, Dub Tractor, Opiate, Dug Surgeon, Jan Jelinek, The Modernist and Michael Mayer. Echocord records is distributed via Kompakt in Cologne. In 2008 he started the sister label Echocord Colour.
In 1998 Kenneth also started to dj more and more. Stefan Betke aka Pole started to book Kenneth for “Scape showcases” in Europe at clubs such as “WMF” (Berlin), “Maria” (Berlin), “Nusonturm” (Frankfurt), “NBI” (Berlin), Sonar festival (Barcelona), Studie 672 (Cologne) and Spring Dance (Uttrecht).
In the end of 2004 he decided to quit working in the recordshop, and instead open up a new club called “Culture Box”. But CB is not only a club, its a venue where other organisers can make their own parties, showcases, visuals and other activities.
The club has been a huge success and artists such as John Tejada, Thomas Fehlmann, Superpitcher, Luciano, Isolée, Oliver Hacke, Daniel Meteo, Wighnomy Brothers, Barbara Morgenstern, Fenin, Carl Craig, Richie Hawtin,Chica Paula, Reinhard Voigt, Marcel Dettmann and many, many others have already visited the club.
At the moment Kenneth is, as the labelboss of Echocord, hosting showcases all over Europe with artists like Luke Hess, Mikkel Metal, Fluxion, Deadbeat and Onmutu Mechanicks on board.
Kenneth’s latest project is called Pattern Repeat. He is doing this with his friend Resoe who also runs the Baum label.

Shed is arguably one of the most diverse electronic music makers of our times and clearly one of our favorites.
Since his first release in 2004 on Delsin, followed by several albums on Ostgut Ton and his own Soloaction imprint, René Pawlowitz has established himself as one of the best contemporary techno artists and delivered essential releases on labels like 50 Weapons, Monkeytown, XL Recordings, Warp Records, Tectonic and Power House.
René is a raver at heart with a penchant for broken beats, which he expresses through various monikers such as Head High, WK7 and The Higher, to name a few.
With his latest project Hoover1, he has stepped deeper into jungle/drum bass territory.
Counting four releases so far, Hoover1 offers essential bass music that ranges from jungle to dnb to hardcore breaks. 
After smashing the Low_End Collective dance floor back in October, we are proud to present you the first ever Hoover1 mix, an one hour trip down the jungle, dnb, hardcore breaks and bass lane - we hope you enjoy it as much as we do. Amen!

Suicide Podcast 54 : PΛЯΛПD

With episode #54 we would like to introduce and welcome Berlin-based DJ & producer PΛЯΛПD (Parand) to our family. 

Her musical roots as a classical pianist led her to electronic music at an early age, which quickly developed into an obsession she pursued with great passion.
Pλяλпd used the resulting broad insights in her first experiments with producing tracks and DJ-ing, quickly finding her taste and developing it accordingly.
 
What followed, despite the Corona crisis, was a big year for Pλяλпd in 2020. With releases on labels such as Crobot Muzik, Diffuse Reality and NURSE, as well as a residency at our club, her efforts paid off and bode well for a busy 2021.
More of her productions are expected to see the light of day on labels like Zwaartekracht Records and Specimen. 

Of course, we are also hoping to open our doors again at some point, even if it's with reduced capacity, to hear more of her sets at one of our floors. We are happy to have her on board.

Low_End Cast 002 w/ N.I.T.T.A

The next episode of Low_End Cast comes from N.I.T.T.A, the second alias of Berlin-based DJ and producer Dinamite.
With her bright and curious nature paired with her artistic versatility, she is constantly enriching herself and searching for new sounds and rhythms.
For some time now, she has been venturing into styles such as half step, dub step or drum and bass, while maintaining her own personal aesthetic of a vibrant sound palette.
When we first heard Dinamite present her vibrant mix of rich, dark sounds to an industrial touch, it was clear to us that we would like to have this energetic project regularly at our events, and as a logical consequence also in our mix series.

Sticking with introducing our residents and local matadors, as we have done for the last few editions, we've invited RAVN JONASSEN for Episode 55.

Ravn has been a regular guest here at Suicide Club for several years now with the event series of his eponymous label Burial Soil. He is also one of the core members of our Transmission :: Berlin event series.

When asked about his musical career, the Berlin based DJ and producer gave us the following statement: „ I was never a big fan of self staging and the growing aggressive promotion that took over the music scene. Let the music speak for itself seems like a legit statement, but nowadays it sounds like a proclamation against all this commercializing of a culture, that means so much more to several generations.“

By the way, this Friday a 5track EP will be released on his label with remixes by Radioactive Man and DJ Frankie.

Suicide Podcast 55 : RAVN JONASSEN

The Suicide Club (fka Suicide Circus) is one of the most traditional and established techno clubs in Berlin, with a large dance floor in the centre, an open-air floor, cutting-edge electronic music and a cosy outdoor terrace/beer garden.
The club has everything you need for a perfect techno night: reduced exterior, dark corners, fog machine, industrial-style dance floor, mystical lighting and a fat sound system.
The name of the club "Suicide" refers to the band "Suicide", which paved the way for later minimal techno back in the 70s with synthesizers and drum computers.
