Unser Inselabenteuer befindet sich in den letzten Zügen und der Protagonist glaubt endlich am Ende seiner Reise angekommen zu sein, wobei er seine neue Heimat nie wirklich verlassen hatte. Eher hat sich sein Verstand auf den Weg gemacht, um unbekannte Dinge zu erkunden. Ob diese Erfahrungen ihn negativ oder positiv beeinflusst haben, lässt sich noch nicht feststellen. Was am Ende der spirituellen Reise auf den Bewohner des vermeintlichen Paradieses wartet, könntet ihr in der nächsten Episode von Simon Ruckers Erzählung erfahren. Die musikalische Erzählstimme der heutigen Episode kommt von Solvane, welcher die angespannte Atmosphäre meisterhaft mit seinen Tracks umreißt und den Spannungsbogen gekonnt spannt.

Ich notiere, mein vorletzter Tag auf der Insel: Ein Spalier aus kunstvoll angefertigten Fackeln trotzt munter der nahenden Finsternis. Beleuchtet die letzten Meter bis hin zum Spalt in der Felswand. Schwarz gähnt mir die Öffnung hinter dem tanzenden Feuerschein entgegen. Am Tag zuvor habe ich das Gestrüpp entfernt, das auf dem tropischen Boden wild wucherte. Ich bin nun bereit. Alle paar Stunden höre ich die Melodien der Körperchen aus dem Berg. Freudige Erregung lässt mir die Haut erkalten. Werden sie heute Nacht nun endlich kommen? Ich habe meinen Platz eingenommen, blicke dem Berg entgegen. Über mir scheint ein nahezu voller Mond. Immer wieder ziehen langsam Wolkenfetzen vor seinem bleichen Gesicht vorüber. Ich notiere, mein letzter Tag auf der Insel: Gestern war es soweit. Meine strapazierte Geduld wurde endlich belohnt. Etwa um Mitternacht sind sie mich holen gekommen. Drum sitze ich jetzt hier, schreibe euch meine letzten Worte auf. Fangt etwas damit an. Ich vermute, die Yacht, die dort unten in der Bucht liegt, wird die Suche nach mir, Linea und Anthony für eure Technologien etwas erleichtern. Wird sie beschleunigen. Zögert nicht damit, meine Botschaft ernst zu nehmen. Meine Warnung zu verstehen. Vieles werde ich hier nun nicht mehr berichten. Es fällt mir schwer, einen klaren Gedanken zu fassen. Ich weiß nur, dass ich das Richtige getan habe. Ich habe getan, was ich tun musste...

Super Drama Records bring the nearest and dearest together to complete their first trio of ‘Family Drama’ EPs. Launched this summer as a celebration of their East London Queer scene and extended family, this third installment once again represents the full electronic spectrum and features cuts from pioneers and debutants alike.

Grace Sands presses the button. A free party sister from Digs and the sadly departed Woosh’s DiY Soundsystem, plus resident at the mighty ADONIS; her pulsing, unhurried deep house cut ‘The Speech’ sets the tone and pace with the powerful voices of Barack Obama and Pharaoh Sanders.

Deeper into the EP we find legends In Flagranti who plough their decades of disco nuances into the acidic, off-grid stamps of ‘Burst Mode’ before Super Drama themselves take the reins with ‘One On One’. Stripped back and as intimate the title suggests, this takes us straight to the source; bold as brass warehouse business that wouldn’t have gone amiss in a Vasquez selection.

Wrapping up we have long time Super Drama friend Tonka making his debut with top-down cruiser ‘MK3 GTi Cabriolet’ before performance artist RODENT shuts down the year on the provocative, 160BPM techno/jungle fusion. Known for using sound, text and the body to conjure visceral moments of trans/aggressive catharsis and dis/comfort in their performances, ‘Rotwang’ captures RODENT’s unique and challenging edge and sounds absolutely twisted through those rigs we’re praying to play on more in 2021. Family time over… But not for long. We’ll see you on the dancefloor as soon as we can.
