About a year ago, we were all sitting around wondering what ever happened to the jackin bassy house sound we were all fond of, and whining about the lack of fun but quality bassline music to smash at the rave. Well, AC Slater went and did something about it.

The title says it all on this new EP from Slates, a return to form from the producer who brought you “Jack Got Jacked,” “Take You” and “Banger." On Return of the Underground, Slater explores the punchy and wobbly bass sounds that he pioneered, pairing them with twists and turns and gunshots influenced by speed garage and those infectious classic UK bass anthems by Switch and Sinden.

This EP is four tracks of epic quality with not a sleeper in sight. The underground is back. Long live the underground.

AC Slater - Gunplay

Tiësto, recently named "Greatest DJ of All-Time" by Mixmag, combines forces with fellow Dutchman and fast rising star, Hardwell.  Their collaboration here on "Zero 76" is a monumental production, fusing each artists' style to create an early contender for tune of 2011.

Tiësto and Hardwell both hail from Breda, Netherlands and the title Zero 76 is a nod to their home town's area code.  Hardwell explains, "Being born and raised in Breda, Tiësto's hometown, I always felt a certain pride when others mentioned his name.  When meeting him for the first time, last year in Ibiza, we had an instant click that lead to this cooperation."

 

As if their country couldn't be any more proud of them, this co-production is as big as it gets.   After making the rounds at festivals around the globe and garnering massive, organic hype on youtube Zero 76 is finally poised for mass release. I did this remix of a small indie band that I love in January of 2009, hard to believe that it is 2 years old.  I included it on my mix compilation "The Grand" thus the name of the remix.  It works nicely in the club so don't be scared to drop it.
