the sample is so beautiful that it's hard to try to mess with it without ruining something good. in the end i decided to go the science route and play with the timing. kinda enjoyable little experiment. And i tagged on another little beat that came out of the session (the sample didnt work, so i stripped it out, but the cole sample was in there and inspired it, so FU)

this beat isn't really a fair ssc entry. i struggled to make anything i liked with the samples and got to a point where i took all the chops out apart from that crazy sound you hear throughout (it's several crunched and killed samples) and  decided i liked that better. So t/here it is. The first little beat has the sample used in a more proper fashion

this was a tricky one for me - i ended up doing a really simple beat after i'd been playing with it for ages and then decided i liked that best (because of the weird timing), so i put that first, and then another beat at the end. it features Blue and a bit of ghostface. 

SSC#88: For Pia & Blu (2 parts)

the sample is nice but perhaps a little too nice: i just chopped big chunks and put them together. the beat is a sample too. Hell, what did i even do on this? i had a Common/Sadat X vocal originally but took it out to save it for something that i'm more excited by. it's ok but feels a bit retrospective. I need to just stop when i know something is middle of the road. 

SSC#89: No Flowers on Uranus

started with a snare and big bass drum, found that lovely synth and just kept adding. I'm really pleased with this one, even though the mix is a bit murky and the vocal quality cruddy. It ust had a nice upbeat vibe. I was literally dancing around my room to this. 

SSC#90: Made in the 80's, Undone in the 90's ft. Bahamadia

added a sort of latin showtune feel to this remix of the Mz V acapella. whole lotta extra bass and some string layers to give it that eastern european moodiness. certainly not what the dopespot camp was expecting, i suspect.

the sample this week was a ready-made monster. i ended up mixing the obvious loop with another chop and threw in some vocal chops, plus an acapella from boot camp click.

didnt have time to put this into the finished format and it doesn't quite go anywhere, but i think that it can be shuffled into something good for vocals
