onedotsixtwo heads to São Paulo by way of the very talented Carla Cimino who has created two sensuous tracks in ‘Fractal’ and ‘Illusion’, while Australia’s Mike Rish delivers a stunning remix of the title track.

Carla Cimino has been directly involved with electronic music and the underground scene in her native São Paulo since the early 2000’s, and began producing her own material almost ten years ago. In that time she has released on many quality imprints such as Warung Recordings, Culprit and BC2 Records gained support from DJ’s far and wide, including Hernan Cattaneo, Hoj, Madloch, Chris Fortier and many more. 

The EP opens with Fractal. Pulsating bass envelops the listener from the offset. Shimmering shakers and congas dance between sustained chords, and ethereal voices build tension amongst plucked strings. A track that would sit equally comfortably during the build of a set, or late into the night. Illusion is next with an addictive groove, razor sharp hats and mesmerising chimes, leading to a break full of excitement and anticipation, and onward to a release worth every second of the build. Mike Rish makes his mark on Fractal and what a mark it is. He takes the key elements of the original and adds a big dose of peak energy using powerful builds and sweeps layered amongst thunderous reverberating FX, while accentuating the string elements. Proper heads down progressive.

Future Blueprints is a celebration of the upcoming generation of producers who are making their own unique mark on the scene, and gives us a snapshot of the excellent quality and imagination out there amongst the next wave of progressive artists. 

First up, Argentina’s Agustin Pengov gives us ‘SEIA’, a melodic masterstroke which oozes class and manages to remain both subtle and furious in the same breath. 

The goose bumps continue as we stay in South America, but move next door to Uruguay with ‘Distance’ from Alex Efe & Diego Barrondo, two of Uruguay’s hottest exports, who regularly collaborate, and it shows with this blistering ride of a track. 

Next we travel to Sydney, Australia, by way of Sam Cooke, AKA Covsky, who proves he really is one to watch on the Aussie new school scene with this emotive heads down groover called ‘Whole 9’. 

We head back to South America, but this time we land in São Paulo, Brazil and are greeted by Gorkiz and his anthemic  ‘Intuition’. 

A second collaboration is next up, and this time we are spanning the globe with Serbia-based Hobin Rude and Argentina’s Nicolas Benedetti and their sublime ‘Orhidea’. 

Last, but certainly not least we close this compilation with the fittingly titled ‘End of a New Era’ from Buenos Aires’ Matias Ocaño. An emotive and melancholic gem. 

We are left in no doubt that the future of progressive house music is in very good hands.

Victor Ruiz's VOLTA continues its prominence with another emphatic techno offering, providing the platform for a head-turning label debut from rising Brazilian starlet Lutgens as he delivers his "Fenix" EP with full force this September. Following releases on Panterre Musique, Prototype Music, IAMT and several others, Lutgens steps out of the studio with another undeniably potent package, spanning two hypnotic peak-time jams that showcase the full depth of his production skills. Kicking off with the title cut "Fenix," Lutgens wastes no time unloading that distinct ethereal-laced sound VOLTA is becoming synonymous with. Pulsating grooves, rippling low-frequency rumble, and rising musical resonance are all at play here, facilitating an expanding ebb and flow filled with atmospheric crescendos and deep-plunging breaks - hard-hitting interplanetary techno at its absolute finest yet again. "Sinistro" brings the release to a head with another firm hand strike. This spring saw seasoned XYZ contributor Koelle team up with multi-instrumentalist Reza Safinia on Reverie, a two-sided offering which saw the union of electronic tones and orchestral influences into a dance floor affair. As the fall arrives to Montréal, we're pleased to present our biggest remix compilation to date. 6 artists from the over the broad melodic house & techno spectrum will offer their versions of the tracks over the weeks to come. Here is Vol.1 of the Reverie remixes, featuring Lovecraft, Niki Sadeki and Ian O'Donovan.

Lovecraft takes his time to set the mood on his take of 'Reverie'. Floating chords rest on an arp which keeps on building up until the break. That's when the main hook comes in, carried by a rolling bassline continuously building in energy.

Offering the first remix of ‘Into The Woods' is Niki Sadeki. Her take on the song embraces an upfront arpeggio and a pumping ride cymbal. These core elements offer the backdrop as the arrangement is rounded by chimes, lush pads and counter-melodies.

True to his style that made him a pillar of the label since the early years, Ian O'Donovan goes in with a proper roller of a tune, first establishing a riding hat groove laying on the bass progression. The iconic horn from the original is then unleashed, leading into a break which sees the harmony develop in full effect. O'Donovan finally sprinkles an acid layer to the bass, an exclamation point to the driving track.

Lucas Rossi was born in the city of Córdoba, Argentina in 1988.
His interest in electronic music was born around 2000 listening
to house and trance and over the years he evolved into deep
house and progressive house.

His career as a DJ began in 2011 and throughout it he has had
the opportunity to take his music to the most important cities in
Argentina as well as to European territory. He has shared the
stage with great artists from the national and international scene
such as Henry Saiz, Martin García, Cid Inc, Sahar Z, Robert
Babycz, Cubicolor, Stelios Vassiloudis, Eelke Kleijn, Khen, Chicola,
Roy Rosenfeld, Dimitry Molosh, among others.

Starting in 2012, he began to take his first steps in the
production career trying to achieve his own musical identity and
over time he has managed to edit on labels such as Black Hole
Recordings in the legendary compilation "In Search Of Sunrise",
The Soundgarden, Dreamers , just to name a few. Since the
beginning of his career he has managed to count on the support
of artists such as Hernan Cattaneo, Nick Warren, Eelke Kleijn and
many more.

Lucas also has a radio show on Frisky Radio called Different
Minds.
