The third chapter in On Board Music’s The Meaning Of Time compilation series takes a different approach. The label engaged its community with an open call for tracks, and then tasked its core, established artists with remixes of each. The resulting, 22-track offering is a sublime snapshot of modern ambient and deep techno, showcasing the label’s richly talented roster and an exciting next generation. As with the previous compilations, all proceeds will be donated to Sea Watch and the important work they do for the migrant crisis in the Mediterranean Sea.

Recién aterrizados del enorme Ombra Festival y con el segundo aniversario Syntax Electronix a la vuelta de la esquina, no hemos encontrado nada mas apropiado que dedicarle esta edición a uno de los protagonistas de Ombra y cabeza de cartel para el próximo 18 de diciembre en SYNTAX 2º aniv
Hablamos de casi una leyenda viva en las cabinas de la península, son ya 33 años en activo, coleccionista de grandes plásticos futuristas y atemporales, exclusiva selección y depurada técnica para mezclar composiciones tan diversas y a veces tan complejas de enlazar.

SYNTAX AIR - Programa #032 : WAJE

Tresor veteran TV Victor TV Victor returns with two EPs in the midst of Tresor's 30th anniversary. Being an integral part of Tresor even before it all began, Udo Heitfeld founded No Zen Orchestra in 1987 together with Dimitri Hegemann and Günther Schickert amongst others. The first releases on Interfisch, which would later become Tresor Records, saw the crew gathering around Fischbüro (a space for eclectic and dada experimentation) releasing non-comforming hypnotic psychedelic rock experiments, followed by Heitfeld's solo debut Album Moondance on Big Sex in '89 as well as Trance Garden 1-3, his first release on Tresor in '94.

TV Victor's new releases GRV Vol. 2 + 3 continue this saga three decades later. This new chapter picks up where GRV Vol.1 left off in 2010, with its release on Tobias Freund and Max Loderbauer's Non Standard Productions label. GRV Vol.3 shows an even more hypnotic and trance-inducing side of Heitfeld's sonic universe.

It starts off with „GRV Tr 5", an ever growing drone piece interspersed with drums reminiscent of Jaki Liebezeit's "Motorik Beat"-drumming from the days of Can. Relentless drums and layers of percussion are present throughout the whole EP. While the moods and states of mind are ever changing - sometimes soothing, sometimes threatening - they still convey a universal feeling: things are moving forward in steady waves while the repetitive and subtly shifting atmospherics - much like looking at the stars - crumble any sense of space and time into infinity.

A lot of magic happens, when nothing happens next.

Great Minds Think Alike, would be a good argument to define the merger of the two minds behind Immaterial, the eleventh release by HC Records, signed by Siarem, a producer from Albacete who previously starred in the label's third release, and Estrato Aurora, legendary Valencian musician former member of Lontano, Pajaro Dune and Mini Service. Both have found a complicity and joint impulse that have brought their creative character together in this fruitful union.

Navigating the dunes of the planet Arrakis has never been so delightful, since Peace, the track with which the record begins, takes us to dreamlike landscapes of infinite horizons in which a deep intimacy develops along the way. A warm broken rhythm, relying on a hypnotic and thick bass, leads the development while being wrapped in multiple sound layers in which velvety pads, melancholic synths and pulsating keys caress our ears like raindrops, thus recreating a mysterious atmosphere typical of unexplored universes, advancing towards the second part of the song, where a second group of harmonies answer and complement the main ones generating a genuine electronic ode.

The second part of our dreamy journey reaches with Teleonomia, an exercise in sound synaesthesia that projects a golden and brilliant musical landscape in which a succession of harmonic sound layers and robust bass lines intertwine with surgical precision around a broken rhythm with a firm and surrounding impact.

The B-side of the vinyl takes us out of our reverie with the pure, and at the same time evolved, EBM by Siarem, a concept that Deeper Side exudes. This one is a track that reminds us of the best B-sides of the pioneers of the Belgian sound but with the sharpness and definition of the 21st century. Rugged basses and gritty voices encouraging urban combat. This track was chosen by Techno Baron Dave Clarke on his White Noise show to kick off 2021.

The influence of the American sounds that arrived in Valencia at the end of the 80's leave their mark on La base Medi, much more than the typical dj-tool with which to wreak havoc in the dance floor. A forceful bass drum in line with unsyncopated cadences, a dominant bass and a multitude of percussions of different nature in almost six minutes of infectious hypnotic dance.

In My Dreams gives the finishing touch to this release by delving into the helical gliding compositions inspired by 70's psychedelia, inducing the listener into a complex trance state close to nirvana.

400 ppm is the first of the digital bonus tracks that accompany the vinyl, an exercise in hypnotism and rhythmic meditation built on the basis of enveloping frequencies and a marked and devastating broken rhythm. The second and last broadside in digital format arrives with Vectors, a sidereal trip to the beat of crystalline electro charged with emotion and reflection. Quite a potential anthem.

Cellarkalt, that’s the oldest project of Benedikt Schmidt (Snuffo / Snuff Crew). Launched in the late 90s, it’s about creating experimental soundscapes and keeping a DIY and Dada approach.
The latest album
“Blaue Stunde, Kleidermann” was made at Schmidt’s studio in Santanyí (Majorca) in early 2022. All tracks were recorded live.

Sungate welcomes the return of Fase Bipolar to its barracks.
The valencian duo, composed of label co-founder Moy Santana and infamous antihero Finalversion3, soars at nosebleed altitude with an EP of uncompromised techno. 
Tinged with euphoria, these tracks are the perfect soundtrack to solar storm navigation. A myriad of electromagnetic rhythms bombarded by white noise, FM alchemy, and a heavy dose of rumbling bass. 
Anthony Linell adds to the release with a remix characterised by its addictive pulse, an exploration into texture locked into an elegant grid of mechanised techno. Desroi’s remix, in turn, pushes the EP’s euphoric traits up a notch by delivering a shimmering rework of club-focused dance impressionism.

R&S founder Renaat Vandepapeliere returns with his personal RV Trax series showcasing the sounds he plays on the dancefloor.  
Part four carries off where the other volumes have left off with more underground electronica and techno.

Veteran French producer DJ Oil has released for the likes of Blue Note (as part of Troublemakers) and BBE.  ‘Addis’ continues his explorations into sample heavy house with a hint of electro that made his recent ‘Bref Avenir’ album such a joy.

Halosaur is a new alias of Stephane Lefrancois another Frenchman who usually goes by SLF on labels like KMS.  Recording as Halosaur lets him indulge his electronica influences and get serious on his modular synth set up.

Tom Flynn has released  for heavyweight labels like Planet E, Dirtybird and Hypercolour.  ‘Avenue A’ balances deep mechanical rhythms with sophisticated piano motifs.

Healing Noises is up and coming French producer Marianne Novomesky.  Her track ‘Palm Tree’ is  dreamy, stripped down, funked up, sun-baked house.

RV Trax Vol 4

Outer space, galaxies, Detroit and sci-fi movies from the 50s were HD Substance key inspirations to create “Filtration Layers” EP. “Beats & Pieces 05” and “Decay & Oblivion” are two perfectly crafted and original techno tracks, produced under a minimalistic concept of hardware use and optimization. Fase Bipolar bring their personal touch doing what they know best by turning both tracks into two deep hypnotic excursions.
