Another oldie from the archives, this one is a 2010 room 2 peak-time masterclass from the now sadly passed away Mike Huckaby. A true Detroit legend.

It's fair to say that Plex putting on house artists was a pretty rare occurrence over the years but when we did have house DJ's play, we did it properly and Mike played an exceptional set that night. The entire line-up was one of the most eclectic and varied we probably ever put on and had I-F play 2 headline sets (one as Beverly Hills 808303), Headcleaner delivering a modular live set before most producers even knew what Modular synthesis was, a very early Rival Consoles live set, Al Tourettes, Konx-Om-Pax and ToTheBone Dj's hosting room 2 with Mike, Placid and Plex residents. 

All the recordings from our 4th birthday party sound really great so there will be more to come from this one for sure. Enjoy.

DJ, producer and sound engineer hailing from Ljubljana, Slovenia, and co-founder of independent label and event series DE/FRAGMENT. A skilled selector and proficient mixer with a wide musical pallete, he generally operates at the crossroads of techno, electro and bass music. Over the past few years he has been building a reputation as a wild card in many of Slovenia's best clubs and lineups, always keeping his audience on their toes and delivering fresh and unexpected twists and turns within his sets. He released his latest EP titled The Relentless Struggle of Gravity in November 2022 on the legendary London-based label Singularity Recordings.

Silent Servant is the primary pseudonym of California electronic artist Juan Mendez, who produces techno with a heavy post-punk/industrial influence. He first began releasing material as Silent Servant during the mid-2000s, when he was a key member of the influential techno collective Sandwell District. Following numerous well-received underground singles, he made a major impact on the techno world with Negative Fascination, his acclaimed 2012 full-length debut. Following Mendez's co-founding of the Jealous God label in 2013, as well as several singles and collaborations with the likes of Marcel Dettmann and Phase Fatale, Silent Servant released his second album, the more overtly EBM-influenced Shadows of Death and Desire, in 2018.  2023 sees Mendez continuing to Play the US and Europe, New releases On L.I.E.S., Tresor and maintaining his sixth year of the Optimistic Decay radio show on NTS.

With a harmony-seeking personality and endless curiosity for the uncharted, Moss M is sure to captivate the free-spirited through full-on dance floor immersion. 

His thought process behind the mix: “Growing up with lounge, ambient and progressive soul, dub rounded up the deep, sonic backdrop of my early days. Over the past five years of mixing, I realised that no matter what genre or style I am diving in, I always end up in the depths of dub-infused sounds, particularly dub techno. As it is something my mind naturally gravitates towards, I felt the urge to revisit my collection of dusty dub techno records and align them with contemporary productions. Just as my explorations in sound and rhythm this mix encapsulates different moods, rhythms and dynamics. Musically speaking, dub techno fascinates me due to its hauntingly beautiful simplicity, allowing each element to breathe and contribute to a partly tangible, partly tripped out feel. Enjoy.”
