A legendary figure in the underground house community, Juan Deminicis has consistently been at the cutting edge of the movement with a distinctive and innovative sound that has seen him grace such iconic imprints as Pablo Bolivar’s Seven Villas, Hernan Cattaneo’s Sudbeat Music and Guy J’s Lost & Found. Now making his Meanwhile debut, the Juan Deminicis remix of 'Horizonz' is a compelling rework that dazzles with trademark rhythmic flair and sumptuous melodic arrangement. Layers of sound cascade over each other in intelligent fashion as the cadence of the original is enhanced with a dynamic vibrancy from sparkling hi-hats. Sumptuous pads and reverb-coated synth lines ripple across proceedings with ease as the subtle motifs of Khan’s work are complemented further by Deminicis’ stunning artistry.

Imran Khan
Imran began his journey with electronic music in the 80s with a love of early hip-hop, scratching and the breakdancing scene. Roxanne Shante, Doug E Fresh, Mantronix and The Beastie Boys were big influences. 

The arrival of the late 90s saw him develop an addiction to vinyl and DJing, diving headlong into the music scene, absorbed by the hypnotic sounds of Sasha & Digweed, Danny Tenaglia and Paul Oakenfold amongst others. The turn of the millennium saw an interest develop in the production side of electronic music. Over the years he has slowly honed his craft, being drawn to the dark and deeper side of the genre. 

A wide spectrum of musical influences, from Film Scores to Metal, have helped develop his own musical identity. And now...with releases and remixes on top labels such as Proton, Particles and Meanwhile to name but a few, he has earned a new level of exposure that through pure passion and dedication he has worked long and hard to achieve.

Looking out over new 'Horizonz', Juan Deminicis and Simos Tagias create a bright new dawn for Imran Khan.

Starting "Beyond the Future" in August 2020, Kamilo Sanclemente began a new chapter in his relationship with Proton Music. Provided with the perfect vehicle to showcase his original music plus remixes from specially selected artists, Volume 3 now opens with the driving energy of "Ashen Light" with its rolling bassline and relentless beat. Soft and sustained pads add counterweight while beautiful melodies and wobbly arp-lead glisten across the stereo spectrum and into the third movement. With it subtly darker vibe and immaculately grooved bassline, "Haumea" sparkles with its intricate percussive groove and syncopated glassy motifs. Adding complementary synthesised vocal phrases and textured pads to the fray creates a magical piece that opens up in the third movement. In collaboration with Giovanny Aparicio whom Sanclemente partnered with on Volume 2's "Innocense", "Azimut" sees an eighth note stab and reversed synth effects provide a glorious sonic collage that builds with melancholic chord sequences. An emotive bassline progression and shimmering arp phrase adds a touch of class at the breakdown, before the rhythmic foundation and melodic interplay evolves once again post-breakdown.

On remix duties, Proton welcomes back Lanvary for another powerful reworking. A veteran of releases dating back to an April 2017 remix of Matter, the twin-track "Venus" EP in December that year and "Everything You Feel" in October 2019 were notable highlights. Further highlighting production strengths, remixes from Andre Sobota, Hot TuneiK and Ormatie, are now joined by a dark and brooding rework of "Ashen Light" that bristles with analogue bassline power and driving rhythmic force. Meticulously reimagining elements from Lanvary's original, a twisted and delay-laden array of synth lines wend their way across the 7-minute offering with ease to create an atmospheric remix that is an imaginative interpretation of Sanclemente's work.

A regular across the clubs of his Córdoba home as well as a host of appearances in cities including Buenos Aries, Rosario and San Juan, Lucas Rossi also found himself playing at the "Music in the Desert" festival for three consecutive years. The Argentinean's production portfolio is no less impressive with music signed to Amulanga, Balkan Connection and Armen Miran's Hoomidaas. A single remix of Michael A's "Fantasy" in September 2020 marked an impressive Proton Music debut as Lucas Rossi now returns with a delicate blend of progressive and organic house elements that turns "Haumea" into a new and innovative remix. Retaining the fundamental melodic flavour of Sanclemente's original, a deep rhythmic framework is the perfect foundation for a luscious array of textures to blossom into a club-friendly track that is the perfect marriage of remix components and new and additional production material. The result is an immaculate new interpretation from the Lucas Rossi studio.

Through a sublime musical triptych and remixes from Lanvary and Lucas Rossi, Kamilo Sanclemente has hit the jackpot with Vol. 3 of "Beyond the Future".

The latest release from Madloch's Sound Avenue imprint finds the label presenting the third installment of its 'Re:Imagined' series. With the inaugural edition landing in February of last year, these Various Artists EP showcases take a look back over the label's catalog, presenting new interpretations from some of the freshest talent in the underground. Not bound by genre or style, the first two installments in the series earned praise for their contemporary blend of organic, progressive and deep house sounds. Now presenting the third installment in the series, Sound Avenue invites Analog Jungs, Forerunners and Andres Moris to re-interpret tracks from Mariner + Domingo, Madloch and Matias Vila and amhain.

Returning to the label and providing the lone interpretation of Mariner + Domingo's 'Le Carnival' is Analog Jungs. Based in Cordoba, the Argentinean duo have been one of the progressive scene's most inspiring acts in recent years. Support from Hernan Cattaneo and Nick Warren along with releases on Hope Recordings, Mango Alley, Or Two Strangers and The Soundgarden have all been sensational. Having made their Sound Avenue debut in 2017 with a joint EP with fellow countryman Antrim, Analog Jungs now return to Sound Avenue with a gorgeous rendition of 'Le' Carnival'. Clocking in at eight magical minutes, the Argentinean duo draw on the main themes from the original with a more progressive inspired framework. Warm, key changing grooves, dusty percussion and balmy atmospheres marry beautifully across an emotive first act. Re-processed for a hazy, harmonic feel; the lead theme beams brightly during an expansive centerpiece, gently building emotion towards a blissful finale.

Etta Matters & Singularities feat. Max Landry - Stronger For You (Marcus J3nson Remix)

Finding his groove on Meanwhile with a clutch of impressive productions, Alex O’Rion has been a regular on GMJ and Matter’s best-selling imprint. Reaching a highpoint with May 2020’s “Echium” EP, we now return to O’Rion’s seminal work with remixes from a trio of outstanding artists.

And iconic name within the underground dance industry, Eelko Wijnja has forged a distinctive and innovative sound through his Navar soubriquet. A regular on the likes of Guy J’s Lost & Found, Roger Martinez’s Higher States and Cid Inc.’s Replug, the Dutch star makes his Meanwhile debut with a typically rich and evocative interpretation of “The Chase” that flows gloriously across its near 8-minute journey. Built upon deep kick and rolling arpeggiated synth line, familiar motifs from O’Rion’s original float into sonic range as deeply textured pads and evolving percussive groove wend their way forwards in delicate fashion. An array of sumptuous additional production, courtesy of deep bass and sympathetic new melodies, make their presence felt as the track explodes into the second movement with dancefloor grace. The result is a dynamic interpretation that places Navar at the upper echelons of dance music royalty.

Another familiar name to the Meanwhile cognoscenti, Simos Tagias made an impact via his March 2021 twin-track “Euphoria / Emotion” EP, before September saw a remix of Imran Khan’s “Horizonz”. A veteran of over 400 production credits dating back to a debut for Lynx Records in late 2012, the Greek artist now reworks “Echium” with typical aplomb. Taking the machine-gun hi-hat pattern of the original and a 16th note bass sequence, the meandering melodic themes of O’Rion’s work resonate across a dynamic rhythmic framework. With raw, seething power, Tagias builds intensity that pauses for breath at a haunting breakdown, drenched in reverbs, delays and the stunning motif central to “Echium”, before exploding into the third movement with shimmering effervescence and club-friendly groove.

The final remix sees another Meanwhile favourite enter the fray. An artist who has grown in stature with a slew of releases on the likes of onedotsixtwo, MNL and Proton Music, Sebastian Sellares hit the ground running in April 2021 with his “Dunes at Dawn” EP. This musical triptych showcased the Argentinian’s skill and artistry, while a remix of GMJ’s “Precipice” two months later was another label highlight. Working his production magic on “The Serpent”, Sebastian Sellares has found a way to illuminate the musical phrasing of the original while creating a spotlight that shines on an array of new production material, simultaneously driving the track forward with potent rhythmic force and effortless bassline presence. The result is a searing lead line, rooted in O’Rion’s original, that cuts its way through the second half with acetylene precision, perfectly illustrating Sellares’ sought-after production credentials.

Growing in stature with a trio of towering new remixes from Navar, Simos Tagias and Sebastian Sellares, Alex O’Rion blossoms once again with “Echium”.
