Making two glorious returns to the Shores imprint are Axxound and Lumidelic, who deliver their takes on the truly gorgeous 'Colours Of Life EP' from Slovakian masterminds Mark & Lukas.

Originally released with us late last year by this dynamic duo, we were eager to see these melodic gems get a personal touch from some other well known talents at Emergent. 'Colours Of Life' received a truly uplifting take from Axxound, pushing a full on chuggy summer progressive style that resonates perfectly with the original journey of this track. 'The Echo Of The Mountain' gets a beautiful rendition delivered from label veteran Lumidelic, who takes this track in his own direction in every sense, delivering a true masterpiece and once again proving why he is quickly becoming a front running artist here at the Shores imprint.

Taking some truly gorgeous originals and delivering an all new adventure with ease and style, this is Axxound and Lumidelic with their remixes of the 'Colours Of Life EP' from Mark & Lukas.

Porter Robinson changed the way we look at making music. He’s a huge inspiration to both of us. ‘Say My Name’ was a record that we listened to nonstop when it came out. It was a record that really changed a lot for us individually. For me (Dylan) it was a huge part of the reason why I fell in love with dance music. And for me (Kyle) it was one of the first songs that got me into the house/complextro genre, something that heavily influences the music I make today. Without this record coming out things could have been different for us. With all that being said, we thought it would be a great idea to put our own spin on it and give it to you guys as a gift for everything you all have done for us. A legend of Bristol’s dance music scene, Jody Wisternoff releases his brand new twelve-track LP ‘Nightwhisper’ today. His first solo album in eight years, ‘Nightwhisper’ follows Wisternoff’s 2012 debut LP ‘Trails We Blaze’ and esteemed catalogue as Way Out West. 

A formative figure in the UK rave scene, Wisternoff first made his name in the early ’90s before cementing his position as one of the UK’s finest talent-spotters and DJs as part of the Anjunadeep label family, where he co-curates the chart-topping annual compilation series. 

Written primarily in 2019, ‘Nightwhisper’ is a deeply personal album born out of a time of introspection for the Bristol producer following the death of his father:

“It was a time of conflicting emotions for me… I suddenly found myself appreciating the simpler things in life in a way that I had never done before, but on an equal note also questioning mortality on a level that is only possible after the passing of a family member.” 

Amidst the hefty demands of fatherhood and touring, Jody came to embrace his newfound awareness of impermanence and loss in his songwriting. The intimacy of the album is quickly conveyed in the opening track ‘Morning U’, which features spoken home recordings of Jody’s father above a touching melody. Exploring the full spectrum of emotion, the lively progressions and lyrics of ‘Lately’ and ‘Reverie’ provide an optimistic contrast to more melancholic numbers ‘For Those We Knew’ and ‘Nightwhisper’. 


Sonically, the album is heavily influenced by Wisternoff’s eclectic tenure in the UK music scene. Launching his career in 1986 at the age of 13 as a finalist at the DMC World DJ Championship, Wisternoff honed his craft at the forefront of UK rave culture, playing warehouses for seminal promoters Fantazia and Universe, and hosting a residency at the iconic Lakota club in Bristol. After a chance encounter in a record store, Wisternoff joined forces with Nick Warren to form Way Out West. The luminary duo rose to fame in the 1990s with several UK-charting singles and a UK dance number one in ‘Mindcircus’, quickly followed by a 1997 album ‘Way Out West’, which saw critical and commercial success. 


A statement LP with a pertinent message during this grounded time, ‘Nightwhisper’ is a culmination of Wisternoff’s decorated career and progression as an artist, husband, and father: 

“‘Nightwhisper’ is an attempt at finding balance and inner peace during the ever-changing life journey… In some ways, it’s a personal lullaby, a call back to simpler times which of course is impossible, but comforting none the less.”

Released near the end of 2019, "I've Been Letting Go Of You" was the memorable debut collaboration between Norwegian producer, singer, and songwriter Astroleaf and Russian producer Aftruu (aka Enviado Vida), both esteemed label contributors in recent years. It proved to be a moody ode to the journey of moving on from a past lover, as well as the process of beginning a relationship anew. It is our privilege to now present remixes of this tune by Sound Quelle and Kobana, beloved label veterans in their own right, who each grace this release with inspired new vocal and instrumental / dub interpretations.
