Fresh from a quartet of remixes on Particles in Spring 2015, Derek Howell and his 2014 "Interstellar Homecoming" EP has been well represented through work from the likes of East Café and Michael A. Now receiving a receiving a well-deserved remix EP on Proton Music, Irish and Japanese legends provide reworks of rare quality.

Irish producer Gavin Mulhall has been making waves in the underground dance scene for over a decade through his Silinder production nom de plume. A rare combination of skill, craft and musical soothsaying has seen his work constantly at the vanguard of the modern scene. Heavily supported by James Zabiela in his early career, Silinder has gone on to see the DJ glitterati continually support productions. As such, Silinder can justifiably call Charlie May, Meat Katie and Hernan Cattaneo fans of his music with a runners-up spot on the Guy J "Azimuth" remix competition among his accolades.

Over a double century of credits have found themselves united with some of the finest modern labels since 2006's debut for Baroque as Stripped, Perspectives Digital and Sudbeat have all found a home for the Silinder sound. A quarter-century of those credits has featured on Proton Music including 2012's "Corrupt", 2013's "Solas" and 2014's "Basement" EPs nestling alongside remixes of Biologik, Lank and Oliver Lieb. Now returning with an elegantly crafted remix of Derek Howell, Silinder's rework takes "One Way" in a carefully constructed and intricately woven percussive path that teases in elements from Howell's original as they gradually evolve into fully-blown house infused triumph. Combined with vocal cuts from the original and Silinder's own production talent, the result is a summer delight.

Ibaraki born, Sapporo based producer and DJ, Shingo Nakamura, has been a major force in the Progressive House and Trance arenas since his first work for Silk Digital went on to see him become a constant and regular contributor to their catalogues, including 2011's full-length "Sapporo" album. Indeed, a recent rework of his 2009 hit "Alice in Wonderland" for Silk Digital has been a part of the 100th single celebration for the label and his unstinting work for the "Only Silk" compilation series saw a third instalment in Jun 2015. Also a regular on the Japanese, Otographic Music imprint, 2014's "Days" provided another album of unimpeachable quality as Silk Royal, Intricate and Anjunadeep have also all played host to Nakamura's talents in a career always on the rise.

A regular on both the Particles and Proton Music labels since 2009's remix of Mango for the latter, Shingo Nakamura has continued to evolve through his remixes including Andre Sobota and Kobana. Now returning to either label for the first time in two years, Nakamura's remix of "One Way" is an intricately sculpted work of shimmering beauty. Full of emotion, a warm, pulsating bass line provides the perfect anchor for a stream of original melodic elements to flow effortlessly across a platform of sultry house groove. Nakamura's background in classical piano rises to the fore in the breakdown before vocal cuts from Howell's original are used to stunning effect in the second half.

Two new remixes of Derek Howell from Silinder and Shingo Nakamura ensured the only way is up for Derek Howell and "One Way".

01 PROFF - Joy Is Pain

As one of Silk's earliest contributors, not to mention countless classic contributions to Anjunadeep and his own resident label, Intricate, Russian virtuoso PROFF needs little introduction. We're thrilled to feature him on our parent label for the first time this year with the deep house influenced "Joy Is Pain". The track derives its name from a dubby male vocal refrain, in which a variety of opposing concepts are juxtaposed, culminating in the titular phrase. Meanwhile, a classic deep groove, coupled with a hypnotic, subterranean atmosphere, give the dancefloor a steady bump. As the track progresses, a variety of pad layers begin to crescendo. In the main break, these pads share the stage with glorious orchestral strings, all of which coalesce to create a breathtaking soundscape.

We've been waiting patiently to present Sam Davies' debut Silk Music release for some time now, as a pair of tracks by the Toronto-based talent was previewed on our "Silk Royal Showcase 05" compilation, back in September 2015. These two uplifting cuts, "Sunbound" and "Unwind", are now joined by "Cosmos", an equally memorable offering. From uplifting progressive to after-hours chillout, Sam's extraordinary 3-track EP offers a flavor for all tastes.

The release kicks off with "Sunbound", a peak-hour melodic progressive gem, in the "classical" tradition of the genre. Specifically, an uplifting chord sequence is joined by radiant pads and an inspiring vocal motif. The track continues to crescendo toward the breakdown, where we are treated to a stripped down piano and vocal solo. After a short progressive breaks interlude, the climactic drop leaves the listener in a state of rapture.

The subsequent cut, "Cosmos", features a deep and dark bassline groove, as well as a variety of deep, evocative, and occasionally otherworldly melodic themes. Ethereal pads and an exceeding beautiful, world music-inspired vocal highlight the unforgettable breakdown.

Finally, "Unwind", which served as Tom Fall's intro to his "Silk Royal Showcase 05" mix, returns the listener to the Balearic vibes that are established in "Sunbound". However, rather than closing out the EP with a 4/4 dance track, Sam treats us to a mellifluous, sun-kissed chillstep masterpiece. Heavenly pads and gorgeous piano themes play prominently in this relaxing and life-affirming tune.

'No Turning Back' brought to you by Alex H & Mona Moua is given a dose of life with 3 incredible remixes from some of the biggest names to grace our eyes. The benchmark was set by the fabulous original & that has been met by this trio of producers that have delivered some of the most awe inspiring reworks to have existed. So without further ado, lose yourself into these marveling remixes & see which one strikes you the  most!. 

Last but not least, the final of our magnificent line up for the remix EP comes from Ukraine based wonder VIF, who is always upping the level of quality in any release he puts out. It's no different with this mind blowing rendition of the original, this time diverting from the more mellow sounds & reaching full on into that driving & energetic sound this talent is know for. Never lacking a unique twist; you hear the way the original is captured into a more cleaner & vibrant soundscape with the use of the lovely synth work that marks the signature sounds of his work. One that can definitely be used as a dance floor raiser; the sounds sweep through every crack & crevice highlighting the beauty of the layering used. The vocals are amped up to a more alluring twist with the electronic elements that capture the lighthearted side. Crisp & clear percussions enhance that fast paced feeling whilst letting the vocal do their magic with the haunting chops. What a way to finish this remix EP off, the closing palette that has followed with the rest, offering a nice variety for you all to enjoy. 

An EP that is tremendously appealing in every way possible, these artists have delivered something that cannot be replicated in such a manner. The thought, emotion & skill gone into each one can be heard through every second & nothing less was expected from this dynamic trio of producers. Greek virtuoso Terry Da Libra has emerged as a trance & progressive leader in our roster, thanks to half a decade of indelibly poignant compositions, not to mention his consistently inspired DJ sets on our flagship radio show, "Silk Music Showcase." As he continues to refine his craft, the industry elite have taken notice: Terry witnessed a tremendous amount of international DJ support in 2015, courtesy of hits like "Onirikon" and "Orama." He looks forward to building upon this momentum via his profoundly moving new two-track EP "Anagenesis," one of his finest offerings to date.

A peak-hour, adrenalin-fueled groove explodes out of the gate, in the early going of "Anagenesis." Teaser vocals and a hypnotic arp line create dizzying suspense, as the track crescendoes toward the main break. During the song's unforgettable emotional climax, a gorgeous piano solo emerges, soon coupled with a haunting, yet exceedingly beautiful "tribal" vocal. Finally, the full lead theme crystallizes in the triumphant drop.

Terry's modern take on trance is also beautifully expressed in the subsequent track, "Epiphany," which is as memorable as the title cut. Playful bass layers and arpeggios weave together mellifluously in the opening build. An epic main break once again awaits us and, upon its arrival, fully envelopes the listener in aural bliss. Specifically, ethereal vocal stabs and euphonious piano chords highlight a sweeping arrangement, which culminates in a rapturous drop.

Italian producer Andrea Quattrini has gathered quite a big crowd of followers for many years with his consistent output of quality and varied styled productions. He's an artist that seems to have the ability to turn his hand and magic into many styles of electronic music whilst his consistency, quality and presence always remain at the forefront. 

He is well Known for being the man behind the Sunlight Project Music and Qualystomusic (with Fausto Fanizza)
