Winter Severity Index is a cold wave/synth wave project headed by Simona Ferrucci, singer, arranger and multi-instrumentalist ( voice,guitar, bass guitar, synths and drum machine programming). 
The project was born in 2009 as a traditional female band with drums, bass, synths and guitar. After the decision of two members of the band to leave, WSI continued as a duo with Simona on guitars and with Valentina Fanigliulo , a.k.a. Mushy, on synths. Then in 2013 she started the collaboration with Alessandra Romeo on synths until July 2024, when WSI became a solo project.

The music of Winter Severity Index is marked out by an original mixture of different influences, from synth wave of the Eighties to the guitar shoegaze sound of the Nineties, plus some hint of trip hop and vaporwave. During the years the sound evolved and enriched their features, preserving however a  melancholic dark mood.

From 2011 the project played in more than one hundred venues all over Europe, taking part in important festivals such as the Wave Gothic Treffen in Leipzig, the Substance Festival in Los Angeles, and performed in important locations for contemporary art, such as MAXXI Museum in Rome and Studio Hrdinů in Prague, in the Národní Galerie. 
WSI shared the stage with great artists of the international cold wave scene from The Chameleons UK, to Lene Lovich, from Tropic of Cancer to Lebanon Hanover and so on, receiving agreements from the international press and web magazines. The project participated also to important radio transmission for RAI in Italy and Radio 3 in Spain.

The third album by Winter Severity Index , called DISGELO, has benn released by Manic Depression/Icy Cold and Blood Rock Records in February 2022.

Disaccordo è la trasmissione musicale di Radio Onda Rossa 87.9 che ama la musica e odia i musici. 
Ogni sabato dalle 19,40 alle 20,40 invita ospiti musicali di dubbio valore artistico per canzonarli, nella remota speranza di convincerli a smettere di assordare vicini, parenti e fidanzate, con musiche di cui sinceramente non si sentiva assolutamente il bisogno. 
All'ingrato compito di condurre una trasmissione così cialtronesca, Marco e Kris, che ogni settimana, carichi di tanta pazienza, proveranno a far derimere ma soprattutto a deridere i malcapitati ospiti.

Karima, anche conosciuta come Miss Annie, è una rapper, singer, songwriter e beatmaker italiana di origine liberiana. La sua carriera inizia come ballerina ma presto diviene vocalist professionale. Così, dalle consolle di discoteche italiane come Red Zone Club, Cocorico’ ed Echoes, Karima arriva a collaborare con la radio nazionale M2o, diventando una delle voci ufficiali di questo network radiofonico e un elemento portante dei suoi eventi live.

Insieme al Dj/Producer Cukiman è co-fondatrice di PepeSoup. Il duo PepeSoup, dopo l'uscita nel 2010 del singolo Skank, ha il merito di portare l’Africa a Roma, mescolando con raffinatezza i ritmi tipici del continente africano con una visione clubbing al passo con i tempi e differenziata. Il gruppo fonda anche un’etichetta discografica chiamata Soupu Music, con all’attivo molte uscite. Ascoltando i loro brani, tra le influenze più evidenti c’è senz’altro la bass music ‘made in UK’ ma anche tutta la musica che arriva soprattutto dall’Africa occidentale, da paesi come Nigeria, Ghana, Senegal, Liberia e Costa D’Avorio.
Nel 2011 Karima viene selezionata da Al-Jazeera per far parte del progetto a favore dell'integrazione ‘Surprising Europe’, dedicato a riunire artisti provenienti da diversi paesi europei.

Da un anno a questa parte Karima si dedica all'impegno sociale, dopo aver riscoperto le proprie radici in seguito a un viaggio nella sua terra di origine, la Liberia. Qui, oltre a collaborare con degli artisti locali, diventa direttrice di un orfanotrofio della capitale, Monrovia. Una volta tornata in Italia, usa la musica come mezzo per far emergere i valori della propria cultura di origine in un’ottica italiana, puntando l'attenzione sul tema dell'integrazione delle seconde generazioni in Europa.
