'Underdogs' the new album from Daz and Dj O-one.

This album was produced by Belfast based Dj/producer Dj O-one and Producer/MC Daz. Both have spent several years in the Belfast music circuit playing in clubs and concert venues whilst also doing weekly radio shows on Skankfm and producing records. This album was put together after the pair put out an EP in 2011 and since have both dedicated a lot of time making this next record happen. Between Daz and O-one they have both had the privilege supporting the likes of DJ Jazzy Jeff, DJ Cash Money, Shortee Blitz, Trevor Nelson, Dan Greenpeace,Tinchy Strider, Tim Westwood amoungst other international DJ's and artist. 

Daz has been, spinning, hosting and rapping in local clubs for the past 9 years and has several mixtapes and albums available on itunes. He created and manages Skank fm a 24/7  online radio station based in Belfast city. He currently organizes for 17 local DJ's to host live shows on Skank fm. The studio also supports the local music industry by providing studio time, production and DJ lessons. Daz has collaborated with a large number of local and international musicians, rap artist, dj's, promoters and invites all those dedicated and passionate about music to the Skank fm studio. Daz produced all the music videos for this album and has further plans for another album due for release late 2013.

Dj O-one continues to provide many clubs across the North and South of Ireland with quality mixing and scratching. He is amongst the most elite DJ's in Northern Ireland serving residencies in the best Urban clubs.  He spins alongside local Dj's and supports some of the best UK acts brought to Belfast for many urban nights and events. He presents regularly on skank fm air waves and also collaborates with other local artist and musicians. He has spent well over 15 years mastering the art of turntablism and scratching and has since rocked endless outstanding dj sets, scratch videos and productions. O-one is also currently in the process of  finishing off another Rap album with Brooklyn Based Rapper 'Sinful The Great' due for release 2013. O-one produced every track on this album, accompanied with unique and skillful scratches throughout. 

With so many years of experience the pair wanted to combine their music skills and  create a sound that they grew up listening to. Their inspiration comes from 90's and early 2000 Hip Hop classics. Artist and producers such as Dj Premier, Pete Rock, J Dilla, Nas, Common, Skinnyman, Klashnekoff  are just a few the duo draw inspiration from. In this  collaboration process they wanted to create a rap album highlighting the current state of global Hip Hop and the local scene,whilst also referencing the 'Real' day to day situations life from hate,love,success,failure,relationships. The album also highlights the positive and negative aspects of Hip Hop and the meaning of this urban culture the duo have dedicated their time to. One of the main objectives was to try create a classic Hip Hop sound representing the earlier stages of urban production by sampling records and cutting up the sounds using various  production tools such as the MPC, turntables and other audio software. Each Sample hand picked then cut and rearranged by the master of production O-one.

This project includes features from other artist in similar circumstances, trying to make quality conscious Hip Hop .The features include Dark Angel on two tracks, including the opening track titled 'My History' and track number 7 titled 'Wars Over' . He is a London based rap artist working alongside Jason Payne( Producer)  and PPF productions and has since both have been back and forth to Belfast city collaborating and working alongside O-one,Daz and the Skank fm team promoting their outstanding UK rap album titled  'There & Back Again'.  The second feature includes a Canadian based rap artist 'Spesh-K' on track 4 titled ' Addiction'. 'Spesh-K' has worked alongside 'Pacewon' and 'Classified' and his Album 90209 received massive support throughout Canada and the Hip Hop world. The 3rd Feature is in collaboration with Baltimore based Rap artist 'Wordsmith' who is on the rise in USA Hip Hop scene, working alongside rap legends like 'Chubb Rock'. 'Wordsmith' has various mix tapes, music videos and truly great Hip Hop albums including 'King Noah' all highlighting conscious lyrics. The 4th feature Rell Rock has been on the rise in the music industry in America, working alongside some amazing producers and artist such as Dennis Blaze and Ciara. From Philly To New Jersey. Rell Rock has created a reputation of being one of the most prolific and well-respected female Hip Hop artist on the East coast of America. She features on track 10 titled 'Loves ya Hates Ya'. The Fifth feature is provided by DJ Koncept a local Belfast dj who specializes in turntablism and scratching. He provides the scratches alongside o-one throughout track 12 titled ' New me'.  The sixth feature comes from another London Based artist. Simon Payne is a true musical talent playing many instruments, producing and also providing so many soulful R&B vocals, His album titled 'First Draft' is a soul masterpiece and has been compared to the likes of Lynden David Hall. He features on the last track of the album titled' You & Me. This track also includes Anew Duo, two female soul singers based in Chicago who have worked with some heavyweights in the game such as 'Ja Rule',Common, Lil Mo and 'Big Pun' .   

Now the album is complete the pair have future plans to release their work and try promote it as far and as wide as possible, we ask all those interested to be apart of this musical  journey by playing, reviewing and sharing this music and details of our sources for distribution. THE BEGINNING 

This story begins in a little town called Oceanside in southern California. I was blessed to have two loving, hard working parents, who made it easy to pursue whatever my passions were as a child. One of my favorite things to do as a kid was play sports. I ran track, played basketball and football and until high school that seemed to be the direction my life was going. However all that changed when I picked up my first pair of drumsticks. (Insert "the rest is history" cliche here)

HOW I FOUND MUSIC

Okay so it was more than just picking up some drumsticks. I joined band when I was in high school and noticed that I was pretty good at learning rhythms. All I had to do was listen to it and I could play it back without a problem (so no Nick Cannon isn't the only person who can do that). I picked up drumset and piano the same way... listen and play it back. I stated playing in church and right in the middle of the first set I played in our Sunday night college service I knew I was going to make music for the rest of my life

FINDING MY WAY

I knew music was my passion but when I came out of high school, I was so unfocused. Luckily while I was blindly making decisions God already had a plan for me in place. I was able to enroll in the Los Angeles Recording School's Music Production program after transferring form my local community college in Oceanside, and began to hone my skills behind the boards to get a better understanding for the whole picture of what went into a performance. I struggled early because I actually had to learn to read music for the first time in my whole life and try to understand frequencies and other things i had never heard of before but I was blessed with great friends and professors to push me through and I was able to finish the program in a little over a year and graduate with honors. 

Shortly after that I began putting the knowledge I gained to use. I began getting call from people who needed a producer and landed my first project within a few months of graduation. I was able to work with local hip hop sensation John Gives, all the while getting opportunities to play at the Alliance Youth Conference and become the drummer for Jason David's latest project Dare to be Dreamers. Along with these great opportunities I have also been blessed to begin playing with another Oceanside product, Aquile, as his career continues to explode onto the music scene.
