Championed by Craig Charles on BBC 6 Music in the UK, Jamie and The Numbers produce a fine array of powerful and passionate funked up soul music….New single ‘What When How Or Why’ is mixed by Birmingham DJ/Producer Lee Fisher (famous for producing the classic 90’s dance track Mother ‘All Funked Up’) and has all the hallmarks of a classic floor filler.....so we say get on the floor under the disco ball and dance with the funky kiwis.

Jamie Musuva is a wonderfully gifted Tongan - Kiwi, the 30-year-old singer is based in Wellington and she can often be seen singing soul tunes for Tapestry Promotions at many of their Music Reviews or at Church singing in the local Gospel Choir.

It was at one of the Tapestry shows in Wellington that Jamie met Simon bass player from The Numbers and after a brief chat it was suggested they do some recording together.

After recording and releasing a cover of the Northern Soul classic "If This Is Love" and selling out the vinyl singles in next to no time they decided to release a 2nd single "Magic Touch" which sold out almost twice as fast.

The soul music record-buying public in the UK have embraced Jamie and The Numbers and subsequently they have attracted the attention of several UK-based record labels and publishers one of which they signed a deal with.

New track ‘What When How Or Why’ is a funked up stormer which highlights Jamies vocal clarity, power, and incredible feel, to quote Simon "Jamie has a voice that could fell a tree".

For the record The Numbers is an incredibly tight Wellington Mod band usually consisting of three brothers from Wainuiomata and a newly adopted Kiwi originally from Birmingham England. They are session musicians working and touring with many UK artists , they are also songwriters in their own right publishing 40+ songs with UK publishers...but currently the band's true passion is producing uplifting Northern Soul tunes with their good friend and powerhouse singer Jamie.

That’s The Breaks releases Ghosts in Cbus collaboration

Worthington, OH (May 25, 2024)

In a growing effort to collaborate with regional musical talents, Matt “Stylie'' Steidle and That’s the Breaks recently announced Ghosts, a new single off of an upcoming EP to be fully released this summer in homage to Columbus’ great NPR music station, WCBE 90.5 FM. To make the song as tight as possible, Matt worked with Rob White on bass and Tom Washenko on brass horns, both known throughout the city for their work with The Deeptones, to really dig into the groove.

“In my mind, I’ve always had this vision of bringing the best of the best in the area together to play and make music. Rob and Tom both represent some of the great talents in the city, and I’m honored they welcomed the collaboration.”

Ghosts gives us a quick glimpse into a steed to breathe.”. As the song progresses, the chorus pulls us back to the salient point - “Don’t turn your back now baby, on your ghosts!”. It’s both an affirmation of love and a warning to all to ‘keep an eye on your ghosts’.

With that funkalicious bass, punctuated horn melodies, and the signature Stylie breakbeat feel and axe grinding, Ghosts delivers a punch. A surprisingly upbeat tune that makes you want to get up and groove for sure!

This release also features a growing collaboration between Stylie and Broomwater, a lyricist new to the Columbus music scene who elects to stay anonymous.Together, they want to make music that tells stories and changes lives
