During an unusually rainswept winter in Los Angeles, California, Michael Jakucs turned to music to catalog such strange occurrences. What came out of these sessions was two songs, both representing a distinct feeling that our environment can cause. The first being “Superbloom,” a track that brings about the hope of what comes after so much rain, a paradise of floral bliss. Bright, swirling synths evoke a California desert full of unusually rich flora. The second track, “Chromosphere,” is an ambient journey through space, representing how our minds can wander in times like these. Synths ebb and flow, launching into the stars and staring into the isolated expanse all before waking up from a dream.

Sunwarper’s debut full length, Idolon was written as an album to reflect on warmer times in the dead of winter. Created over a year of travels, Michael Jakucs took to his synths and samples to catalog the experience. Idolon travels through numerous auditory worlds to explore the different emotions our thoughts and the environment can evoke. Sun soaked melodies and a cryptic biome of field recordings, create an audible palette which Jakucs uses to craft nostalgia dripped tunes. Songs drift into times since passed, as wistful synths give way to dusty beats. Idolon is available now.

After a trip to the lush greens of summertime in the Swiss Alps, Michael Jakucs turned to his synths and guitar to catalog the experience. Bright, crisp synths introduce the song’s mountain air inspired melody, building into a monumental peak of percussive bass and booming beats enveloped by warbling synths and infectious guitars.  As the lead single to Sunwarper’s debut album, Idolon, “Heidsee” serves as an introduction to the sun soaked melodies and dusty beats.  Idolon releases on January 10, 2020.
