Jimmy Van M has been an integral part of Bedrock's history with many releases from the labels inception. Most recently he and Oliver Lieb teamed up to bring us their Collaborations album release in 2012 as well as his "We Are Children" track which featured on John Digweed's Structures Two CD in 2011.

Now in 2013, Jimmy Van M is back on Bedrock and this time he has teamed up with Spanish producer AFFKT and Argentinean Producer/Singer Luxor T. Jimmy Van M and Luxor T have been working for more than a year now together and currently working an album project.  Luxor T a trained musician and Jimmy´s production experience on the dancefloor is hitting the right combination for freshly unique tracks each time. AFFKT heard one of Jimmy´s new tracks feat Luxor T - Like U and liked the vocal.  When talking they agreed to try an original together with Luxor T vocals which is how Dreams came into play and rest fell into place easy with great vibes.   Working together on this project AFFKT and Jimmy Van M feed off the creativity and positive enthusiasm to make quality music, you can hear they are into it and having fun. 

The result is Dreams which is a bass driven track that builds and builds with swung percussion creating a relentless groove with Luxor T's vocal layered perfectly over it all with an almost hypnotic effect. For those who prefer the dub vibe there is stripped back version of Dreams without the vocal which features extended pads and toughened up percussion. The final piece is Lucid which is a much more heads down affair for a darker and trippier ride than Dreams which will be perfect for tougher and techier sets. All in all a quality package that should have something for everyone and as we have witnessed John Digweed successfully road testing all of them over the past few months we know they rock on the dancefloor. Enjoy.

Kraak & Smaak continue their quest to own 2013 with the release of the second single from their forthcoming Chrome Waves album. 

The quality keeps flowing with a genuine indie-disco smash featuring Sam Duckworth of Get Cape Wear Cape Fly fame on vocals. Owing as much to the funk and groove of The Clash as it does to the party island where they are suddenly so popular the original is a rip-roaring summer singalong smash destined to blast out of the radio in every city.

As the end of the year approaches, we wanted to do something as a little Christmas giveaway. Rather than your usual free mp3 of a track that didn’t make the grade, or a hastily-compiled mix that nobody will listen to more than once, we decided to do something different. And since we just released our most overtly P-Funk-influenced track to date (<a href="http://http://soundcloud.com/juslikemusic/paper-tiger-send-me-snippets" rel="nofollow" target="_blank">Send Me</a>), the time seemed right for this.

Parliament-Funkadelic have always been a huge influence on us (musically and otherwise), but despite their success and critical acclaim, I’m always struck by how few people now seem to have heard of them, let alone explored their vast back catalogue.

For those that aren’t aware, Parliament and Funkadelic were two bands made up of largely the same personnel that came to prominence in the 1970s, eventually merging into a single entity. For me they had everything – they were uncompromising, original, politically radical, innovative in the studio, frighteningly talented live musicians, killed the dancefloor, blew people’s minds, and created their own surreal sci-fi world (through their stage show, liners notes and artwork) for fans to explore.

They have influenced all popular music since – years before Rapper’s Delight, George Clinton was rapping. Before white America was terrorised by Public Enemy and NWA, they were freaked out by P-Funk. While Kraftwerk were experimenting with synthesisers, Bernie Worrell was hitting crowds with wobbly synth bass. Before the era of overblown pop stage shows, $250,000 was spent on the Mothership. They have been sampled by De La Soul, Eric B and Rakim, Dr. Dre, Ultramagnetic MCs, Ice-T, Wu Tang Clan, EPMD, Beastie Boys and hundreds of others. Outkast owe pretty much their entire career to P-Funk (even they say so).

This mix is by no means comprehensive – the two bands released over 20 albums between them, and many members had solo projects. But if you’ve never heard any of them before, this should be a good introduction. If you already know about P-Funk, then you know you’ll enjoy this! Thanks for supporting us in what’s been our best year yet – we’re already excited about what’s to come.

A multi-media label founded by DJ Greg Wilson, Super Weird Substance deals primarily with balearicpsychedelicdubdisco recordings whilst, on the live side, hosting sixties-styled ‘Happenings’ that include talks, art, bands and DJs.

Announcing its presence at the beginning of summer in 2014 – via the good vibes life-affirming mixtape ‘Blind Arcade Meets Super Weird Substance In The Morphogenetic Field’ – the label took five Super Weird Happenings across the country, whilst releasing a series of new recordings on vinyl, the next year. Eight singles were released between June and October, followed by a CD compilation, bringing together all of the singles as well as alternate versions and a special Greg Wilson mix.

Building on the success of a memorable Festival No.6 showcase in Portmeirion in 2015, Super Weird Substance returned in April 2017 with their most ambitious event to date, the 14 Hour Super Weird Happening at The Florrie. Prior to that Super Weird Substance collaborated with the man who bestowed their name, teaming up with Alan Moore and his Mandrillifesto project, Super Weird Substance created their second mixtape, ‘Alan Moore’s Mandrill Meets Super Weird Substance At The Arts Lab Apocalypse’, taking his acute social commentary and reinventing it within their own joyous sonic realm.

In 2018, the label returned to music with digital single, Gone With The Vibe and the first Substance Select EP. 2019 saw a new, younger energy introduced to the label, bringing with it new sounds, set to be unleashed in 2020, alongside Substance Select Vol.2, releasing Bella Technika remixes on vinyl.
