I record what intrigues me at the time, little pieces of life that have charm in some way. 
My equipment is very simple, just a couple of decent omni microphones, a shotgun microphone, hydrophone and home made contact mics. I enjoy the editing process of assembling sounds but I very rarely add effects or EQ.
These pieces are all experimental and are much better listened to with headphones. I find that process connects you to the sound for a much more immersive experience.
