2013 saw Silicone Soul celebrating the 10th Anniversary of their Darkroom Dubs imprint. Launched in Glasgow back in 2003, the DRD stamp has become a mark of quality and seen many established names exploring deeper realms whilst also unearthing fresh and exciting global talent. 

From Fabric to Watergate, The Standard Rooftop to Club Bahrein Buenos Aires, the Scottish duo have celebrated their disco-decade with a string of '10 Year' parties spread across the last 12 months, building on Darkroom Dubs already strong global reach. 

To round off their birthday in style Craig and Graeme have asked some of the label's main acts and strongest supporters to contribute a track for a new compilation. Artists including jozif, Ryan Crosson, Uner, Gary Beck, Of Norway and Simon Garcia all feature in the collection that Silicone Soul present as a snapshot of the future sound and musical vision of Darkroom Dubs. 

Due for release Feb 24th 2014 on double 12" vinyl and download.

The new dirtybird compilation is loaded with 11 great tunes I have been collecting for over 6 months. Most notably, the Shiba San "OKAY" record has absolutely been destroying every dance floor known to man. We have lots of big birds like Justin Martin, Catz ‘N Dogz & Justin Jay on this, plus a ton of great newcomers and friends making appearances.

The dirtybird BBQ was founded as a small get together in Golden Gate Park thirteen years ago. We've had the same core line-ups and even the same chef, Grillson, since the beginning.  But three years ago, the free party in the park got too big and our permit was pulled.  The city of San Francisco could no longer handle the amount of people showing up to the event.  

Ever since then we have been trying to think of way to bring back the vibe of the BBQ park party. This year we finally put together a team that is able to take the BBQ party all across North America and Europe. We will be starting in Miami and ending in San Francisco so make sure to come grill and chill with us sometime this year. This compilation is a celebration of the O.G. dirtybird BBQ vibe.   I hope you enjoy the music.

After the warm and beautiful indie leaning EP from Dead Heat, Life and Death steps back up to the plate with two fresh dancefloor killers found in Mind Against's new Avalon EP. 

With sounds that seem plucked from an early 80s children's filmstrip gone very wrong (or perhaps very very right) Mind Against weave a dark, inspired charge into the black of night with both sides of this stunning EP.

On the A side is Several Times, a techno gem that comes out of the gate at breakneck pace with solid drums, bass and a rhythmic synth pulse that evolves slowly and strongly until finally augmented by a main analog synth line that reaches over from the other side and grabs you directly by the ears. It's an evocative melody that keeps the listener on edge with tones that are fully present yet almost barely hold together, teetering just on the edge of falling apart but never quite falling away from just where they need to be. A techno themed soundtrack to a disturbing Groundhog Day of the faraway future.

Over on the B side is the EP's namesake with a simmering sound that makes reference to the ancient island home of legendary sorceress Morgan Le Fey, sister of the famous King Arthur and whose mystic ways were to blame for mirages seen by sailors long out at sea. Here again an analog synth casts its spell on the listener, framed by delayed chords and a foreboding low end growl that slowly tell the tale of Avalon. Managing the difficult task of painting a picture without form, Mind Against weave an emotional drama without words and yet their vocabulary of sound seems keenly up to the task. No easy feat but one this duo have proven again and again that they are more than able to accomplish.

Erased Tapes and Kranky are pleased to announce the release of A Winged Victory for the Sullen's 'ATOMOS VII'. April 28 sees the first installment leading up to the release of the second full length studio album 'ATOMOS', and score for choreographer Wayne McGregor's long form dance piece. 

McGregor was heavily influenced by the duo's 2011 self-titled debut, playing it repeatedly during practices with his core group of dancers. After noticing the group's reaction with the music, he contacted Adam & Dustin to see if they could write the score for his new oeuvre. 

The duo recorded more than sixty minutes of music over a four month period during the summer of 2013 in Brussels, Berlin and Reykjavik with the help of their longtime collaborative sound engineer Francesco Donadello. This EP also sees the involvement of Ben Frost, who composed the music for McGregor's previous work 'Far'.

McGregor, mastermind behind the Random Dance Company and resident choreographer at the Royal Ballet since 2006, is known in popular culture circles for serving as movement director for the film 'Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire'. He has also choreographed the Radiohead video 'Lotus Flower' and 'Ingenue' by Atoms for Peace.

"While we were re-amping guitars at Greenhouse studios, Ben expressed interest and admiration in the sounds we had created. We were planning for the B-side to be a metamorphosis of part VII, and Ben seemed the obvious choice. With the multi-tracks transformed, it follows a trajectory that we had not felt comfortable with before. Anton Dhouran is a young emerging artist from Paris who recently caught our attention when he submitted a very high quality demo to us. The result is his debut release 'Missing Element' which features two originals + a remix by Cologne based duo TooL8.

Anton takes us on a magical journey with the title track 'Missing Element', an ever building progressive techno track that, because of the introduction of new elements throughout the track, captures you from the beginning and just won't let you go. One for late nights and longer intelligent sets this one!

Bergwacht residents TooL8 take on remix duties and do this in true German fashion. A bit more raw and minimalistic than the original but without losing sight of melodies and emotion. A perfect contradiction when compared to the original so something for everyone to choose from here!

The initial idea was to release the title track together with the remix but then all of a sudden Anton send us this new track called 'Ere' and we just couldn't resist adding it to the release. 'Ere' is a true melodic techno bomb in the typical French sound; emotional, melancholic and banging at the same time!

Know that Anton has also signed to Solomun's Diynamic label recently and you will know that a new name has just walked into the electronic music scene, a name from which you will hear a lot more in the (near) future.
