2016 proved to be the year for Nhan Solo's Mother Recordings and they look set to continue the success through to 2017 as label regular Superlover steps up with his 'Kiss EP'. Having his own works amongst the top selling tech house category on Beatport proves how in demand he is right now, and what is presented here is surely set to take the Superlover status even further.

'Kiss' kicks off proceedings and can be instantly recognised as the Berlin based producers work as shuffling hats intertwine around a repetitive and hooky bass line. Quirky vocal lines come and go throughout, keeping you on your toes, coming together in a fun loving groovy offering.

Clever sampling from a Goody Goody classic provides the foundations for Superlover to unearth a modern day club classic with 'Heart Drive'. The backbone of pulsating bass and simplistic percussive elements combine with disco strings to create a unique head turner of a track that would be welcome in the peak time and pool side vibes.

Gavin Herlihy follows up brilliantly received releases for Culprit and Crosstown Rebels with the ʻGet Looseʼ EP for Leftroom this March – a four-track release featuring No Regular Play on remix duties.

Since leaving his employment as a respected music journalist, Herlihy has ploughed unnerving amounts of effort into his production career and combined with an undoubted natural talent when it comes to musical perversion, the results have been superb. Cadenza, Cocoon, Crosstown Rebels and Moodmusic are just some of the labels that have bought into the Irishmanʼs distinct sound and the steady stream of quality isnʼt about to let up.

One of the hallmarks of Gavin Herlihyʼs productions is a deft touch when it comes to updating classic tropes and itʼs a skill that is hugely apparent across the ʻGet Looseʼ EP. The title track draws on many elements of the early ʻ90ʼs rave and updates them beautifully - making nagging vocal hits, moody synths and a bulbous, walking bassine sound as fresh and exciting as they did way back.

No Regular Playʼs stripped, crisp version of ʻGet Looseʼ takes an electro view of the originalʼs elements and makes for a funk-laced creeper of a cut that brutally chops and changes moods to joyful effect.

ʻLooking for The Same Thingʼ and ʻCʼMon Peopleʼ continue the looking back to look forward theme of the EP. The former, taking pleasure in offsetting skipping drums and funk licks with the woozy warmth of eye-closing synths while the latter manages to fuse broken nu-jazz, Nu-Yorican house and Detroit melodies without skipping a beat.

Every track on the ʻGet Looseʼ EP proved to be a killer at the recent BPM festival, and for good reason.
