Bastian Bux strides into 2024 with an impressive three-tracker on Jamie Jones’ Hottrax. 

Bastian Bux was hugely busy in 2023 with standout cuts on his own Neverendz label, having already impressed on Eats Everything's Edible, elrow Music and Cuartero's Sanity. He hails from Barcelona and has shown himself to be endlessly creative in the studio - each new tune shows an evolution in his sound, whether vocal, deep, tech or beyond. Now, almost a decade into his career, he has played everywhere from Tomorrowland to Encore Beach Club in Las Vegas, and he now opens the year with a superb three-track EP on Hottrax. 

The punchy 'Dunns' kicks off with tight, clipped tech house drums and chopped-up vocal stabs that eventually turn into streetwise bars drenched in attitude. 'Dat Beat' is just as fresh and sure to get crowds in a swat with its hardcore house grooves and twisted synths spraying about the mix. Throw in more well-treated vocal fragments and a fat bassline, and you have real club dynamite. Completing this essential hat trick is 'Howyalldoin', a more playful cut with a sun-kissed vibe thanks to its soulful male vocals and funky bass riffs.

Brazil is in da house once again! Reecords' 50th milestone release comes from emerging Florianopolis-based rising talent Marian (DPE, Organic Pieces), who makes his label debut with 'Acid Travel' EP. As expected, the lead track takes us on a journey of acid-infused rhythms, squelchy sequences and swirly psychedelic vocals. Next up, 'Badei' offers skipping grooves and full-bodied basslines, all within a laidback funky mood. Games closing are entrusted to 'Rise n Top' - a collaboration with fellow Brazilian wunderkind BAPP (Mood Child, Black Label Recs) - which radiates pure percussive and bouncy flavours, providing a quality and classy option for all hours of the night.

Having driven us down the Sonic Highway alongside Joris Voorn earlier this year, young Dutch sensation Joran van Pol is returning to Rejected with with his very own solo release - EXIST.

Having built a strong and rapid reputation from creating a miriad of minimal moments over recent months, Joran furthers these foundations with his new three track release. The groovy-heavy sci-fi sounds of the title track have already become a firm favourite for Voorn, featuring in his recent Fabric Mix, and now the spooky knocking of Exist is ready for all.

The sinister breaths and cavernous echoes of Eventuate follow. Its growling bassline somehow paling against the brightness of its trippy noises. Final cut Withdraw finds us once again in the immense spacial vault of van Pol as he seemingly bounces a balistic beat ball against a barricade. Dark, menacing and impressive.
