A defining moment in early 2000s minimal, Physical Fraction marked Trentemøller’s breakthrough with its razor-sharp groove and a restless sense of motion. Released in 2005 on Audiomatique, the track balances precision with an almost unhinged energy, tight percussion and warped synth stabs twist around a rolling, bass-heavy framework, building tension with surgical control. While rooted in minimal techno, there’s an unmistakable rawness in its execution, a hint of electro-infused chaos that sets it apart from the era’s more sterile productions. This was Trentemøller before the cinematic melancholy, crafting club music that felt alive, unpredictable, and utterly magnetic.

A2’s ‘I Just Am’ takes the EP into dub techno dancefloor territory with bolshy, rattling percussion and assertive vocals. ‘Heitt’ is a pacy slice of machine music for the wee hours, before drifting back to softness with barely-there ‘Beautiful Love’. ‘Wave Return’ injects a dose of wigged out energy, slowly evolving from drawn out dub into an effervescent jam. ‘Spirit of Ecstasy’ rolls gently - a prime slice of chunky, driving electronica. nthng’s title track, ‘Hypnotherapy’, see’s the producer return to the ambient fringes of moody techno, barely-there kicks, and shimmering pads.
