And so we come to our 100th episode. We have been lucky enough to have showcased some incredible mixes since we started; it's truly been a pleasure to feature established guests as well as giving a platform to lesser known names. For this milestone mix we always had a particular guest in mind and we're more than honoured they agreed to be a part of the series. Optimo's musical ethos bleeds into the way we approach all our musical endeavours, be it a club night, DJ set, the label or indeed a mix series. We often find ourselves difficult to explain musically, which in this day & age of everything having to sit in its own box can on occasion be a source of frustration. But then when you look at Optimo who constantly and succesfully champion just great music who cares about genres. It's a mantra that's hopefully mirrored across our mix series. This year Keith and Jonnie enter their 20th year with Optimo; more relevant than ever with their exciting, eclectic DJ performances around the globe. Keith's two labels Optimo Music and Optimo Trax are garnered to shining a light on new and unusual music both for the club and beyond. This mix is dedicated to all the gorgeous people, open minded musicians and instrument makers, who overwhelmed me with Atai and were willed to teach me something about Gnawa. Not to mention the faboulous record stores in Casablanca, Rabat, Ouazazarte, Marrakesh and those hidden sellers, who suddenly appeared, when i lost my bearings in the Souq.

The mix contains old vinyls and cassettes, which are rounded up with contemporary digital releases and reissues. Pitched down darbouka tapes, traditional orchestra, modern gnawa, fusion, rock, miserable conditioned pop cassettes and some algerian raï. Featuring labels like boussiphone, koutobiaphone, disque gam, casaphone, radio martiko, nabilophone and so on…

Dreems explores the sounds that resonate with Diamond Bay. The show, much like his forthcoming album, is languid journey through ambient dimensions and intimate sonic reflections.

On the '1st Wave' we hear a few old favourites and a couple of new sonic paintings that hang on the metaphorical wall of the 'bay'. You might even hear some words in a distant tongue ~ known to a few as Oz-tralian.

Aksel Schaufler, known as Superpitcher, is a German born producer, musician and DJ, based in Paris.  Since stepping out in 1996, he has steadily produced his own music and countless remixes aligned with Cologne based record label KOMPAKT. In 2011 Superpitcher and artist Rebolledo, created Pachanga Boys and together they own the record label, Hippie Dance.  In 2017 Superpitcher released his third full-length album The Golden Ravedays, an epic of 12 chapter LP’s.
