Hack Static discovered music in a way that feels almost antiquated in the age of SoundCloud...by cranking a radio to whatever crackling college station could be picked up from their bedroom. A computer nerd at heart, when they saw software that could make music on a computer, they knew they had to have it. Fast-forward 20 years, and you can hear the influences of the experimental sounds of college-station radio hip-hop and electronica in their music. The tracks are electronica at their core, but flow like hip-hop; buttery smooth and guided by the beats. While his music is inspired by genres of the past, it sounds very much like the future.
