Papfay – Chemin d’Ivoir
With Chemin d’Ivoir, Papfay presents a lovingly crafted mini-album that oscillates between introspective electronica and subtle club melancholy. Two original tracks form the emotional core of the release, complemented by four remixes that expand the sound without losing sight of its essence.
The title track, “Chemin d’ivoir”, unfolds in patient layers – a piece like a slow-moving river, carried by shimmering textures, delicate harmonies, and a profound sense of space. The atmosphere emerges here through restraint.
“Come Upstairs” picks up the thread but moves in a bolder direction: more rhythmic, edgier, yet no less emotional. The drums dance lightly while the harmonic structure shifts between warmth and unease – a track for late nights and meandering thoughts.
The remixes serve as distinct reinterpretations of the originals:
Der EVA infuses Chemin d’ivoir with glitchy, fragmented acid and rich textures.
Jan Tenner takes a more organic approach, playing with dubby depth and great bassline..
Olendo reshapes Come Upstairs with club-ready precision and techno-tinged tension.
skarú, on the other hand, turns the track into something almost ambient – spacious and intricately detailed.
Chemin d’Ivoir is an invitation to listen with open ears. Layered, finely drawn, and full of quiet intensity.
