The world of boxing shares an uncanny resemblance to the rap game; the ability to be self sustaining, hungry for success and possess the right amount of showmanship is what separates the fly-by-night hopefuls from the legends. Although Archie Bang may not yet be a household name just yet, his dedication to perfecting his craft sets him apart from the bulk of today's artists. Named after the brash and charismatic athlete from the Rocky series, "Apollo Creed" is a statement of intent: Bang would rather die in the ring than go home as a loser. Guitar head-nodding instrumentals aside, it's nearly impossible to not get an adrenaline rush with this one comin' through your speakers. I was digging in the crates a.k.a. browsing my SPC/RSN collection on my computer and I came upon Energy Breaker and these two tracks. Game has some good music, but these two were my favorite of the bunch, so I sampled them. And I made this beat. I especially like the secret/outro beat on this one. Has a classic feel to it. Enjoy.
