After their first big “Things I Didn’t Mean” EP on Dirt Crew back in 2013 the Cali boys Urulu & Steve Huerta teamed up again for another release full of bliss Deep House cuts. Both relocated to Berlin last year and have since then been extremely busy with their solo output on labels like “Let’s Play House”, “Needwant”, “Shabby Doll” and Urulu’s own imprint “Amadeus”.

Here they are giving us a clean cut of both their styles, combined it is truly an all original blend of deep and raw House music. The A side features two club bangers while the
B side explores the deeper side of things with more laid back vibes and dubbed out jazzy elements. One of our personal favourites is the irresistible D.E.G.L. that best describes
the “Urulu & Huerta” Sound. All in all the guys managed to deliver a well rounded package with all elements a good EP needs.

We are quite sure this new release will be a great follow up to their successful first EP that Became a Dirt Crew Classic and one of our best selling tracks ever.

KILLEKILL HOUSE TRAX 007 | KID SIMMONS - THE ARCHIVES #1 - Snippets

A great philosopher (Samuel Johnson, not Ebeneezer Goode) once wrote… “our brightest blazes of gladness are commonly kindled by unexpected sparks”. While it would be a stretch to suggest the Drumcode artist roster are closet philosophy fans, once one begins to unravel the tale that led to Jel Ford remixing the 2012 Alan Fitzpatrick hit ‘For An Endless Night’ and it is impossible to escape the unexpected enterprise and spirit of surprise that are at the heart of this exciting collaboration. 

As fans of Adam Beyer’s label will testify, the two Drumcode names have more in common than just a label stable, they also share common ground with the peak-time melodic sound that has delivered many of the labels most memorable output. Ford being a much more recent addition than Fitzpatrick, whose history with the seminal Swedish imprint stretches back to 2009, however Ford’s history within techno goes back even further having released multiple EP’s through the early noughties on vintage UK techno labels including Dave Angel’s Rotation Records, Billy Nasty’s Tortured Records, Primate Recordings and Ford’s own Jericho imprint. 

It is within this shared passion for uplifting synths and big room melodies that the ‘unexpected spark’ of creativity that led to Ford remixing Fitzpatrick can be found. An long-time admirer of Fitzpatrick’s work, Ford had developed an idea for his alternative version and secretly worked on the remix long before any discussion of the project had taken place. Once given the draft version, Fitzpatrick immediately endorsed the remix, excited to have an updated version to breath new life into what had become a familiar staple of his sets for the past two years. Parts were swapped and the end result being the barnstorming end-of-night monster presented here. A track that will be familiar with many having been the subject of much social-media furor since it first surfaced back in Autumn 2014.

The Belfast based DJ & producer, Garry McCartney, otherwise known as EJECA, has been steadily and consistently building his sound and profile over time, through a series of impressive releases for Aus Music, Unknown To The Unknown, W&O Street Tracks, BPitch Control and Last Night On Earth, amongst others.  

‘The Crystal Maze’ EP is EJECA’s latest offering for Richy Ahmed’s Four Thirty Two label, and comes backed with a rave rollicking Special Request remix.

EJECA carves out an energetic slab of audacious party house on ‘Unloving’, resplendent with rolling beats and stabby chords, and topped off with dramatic strings and vocal chops.  Paul Woolford dons his Special Request guise for the remix; skippy breakbeats, spinbacks, plenty of horns and a thunderous bottom end that is sure to devastate any speaker stack when this one drops!

Elsewhere on the EP, EJECA unleashes some 303 bassline action and dark vocals on ‘Standard Acid House Track’, which thankfully rises well above anything standard!  And on ‘Crystal Maze’, EJECA harks back to the darker dance energies that were a staple of the late 1980s UK acid house boom.  Wrapping up the EP, ‘ISWHATIS’ gets ever so slightly twisted with an orbiting synth hook and weighty stabs over a spirited rhythm section.

‘All I Need’ comes signed, sealed and delivered as a straight-up tech house belter. With Shiba San’s distinctive bass-heavy sound and Tim Baresko’s knack for nabbing a killer vocal hook, it’s no wonder these two Frenchmen are production dynamite together. Sounding as if the record was intrinsically designed for deep and dark club moments, the duo channel their hip-hop influences through infectious RnB style vocals on top of an earth-shattering bassline. Volume up to maximum level, ‘All I Need’ has dropped on DFTD to make you move.
