Friend began his journey as a music journalist in 2010 founding @psymedia before taking up DJing 2017. In 2018 he moved from South Africa to Vietnam and quickly established himself as a formidable DJ and promoter in the region. From sandy beaches down south to mystical caves up north, Friend played at many reputable clubs, festivals and tropical jungle raves such as Studio Adventure, Savage, Retreat (Equation), We Groove and Equinox Festival. His creatively curated 'This Is' club nights and prolific sunrise afterparties in Hanoi under his humble record label @magicboxengine also played a pivotal role in shaping the city's underground music scene.

Since returning to Cape Town in 2021, Friend has performed at renowned festivals and prolific venues such as Wolfkop Weekender, Bazique, Habitat, Into The Wild, Afrikaburn, Origin Festival and Modular Club. Often eclectic, sometimes obscure, always tasteful - Friend's forever evolving sound is heavily influenced by his nomadic travels in SE Asia, South America and Europe. Never shy to switch up the genre or tempo, his versatile approach sees him blending elements of ambient, house, minimal, techno, electro and breakbeats spanning both new school and old.

Suprematic Sounds is a platform for underground electronic music. We publish daily premieres, free tracks and podcasts from established artists and local talents.

I am connected with music from the youngest years, my consciousness and subconsciousness and superconsciousness pushed me in the same direction all the time. Never full-time, always in my spare time and heavily hobbistically. With longer breaks and returns. Time was slowly moving forward and the taste for exceptional sounds was developing with every minute of listening or creating my beats and loops. A few years ago I got a proposal to release some of my tracks, which today you can find on Beatport and of course Spotify. It was a very positive experience, after so many years without professional approach and work, such a big turn in my hobby.

I'm slowly approaching 40, someone will say that half of my life is behind me, I insist that at least 1/3. I want to learn how to create music that heals not only the soul, but also the body directly. We live in incredible times, science slowly reveals what was hidden from us. Already today we know frequencies that can reverse cancer cells. The revolution is just around the corner. People will go to concerts to heal themselves, listen to recordings to improve the dynamics of the body or cure certain viruses. This is my goal, I hope that there will be good souls to help me in this by giving me faith and support in what I do and will do in the future.
