Berlin's Elias Doré arrived on When We Dip XYZ with a summer classic. An artist of many flavors, Doré has shifted through all facets of music over the years, performing in various bands & playing all genres of music. From Afro-Funk in Dakar, Gipsy in London, Reggae, Soul in Berlin - Elias merges worlds through his modern electronic productions.

Doré connected with the sensational vocalist Stella Moya on Heridas, which offers crisp percussions, smooth synthetics, and a floaty groove that balances & propels the vivacious vocal seamlessly.

We are thrilled to offer a pair of remixes on Heridas. A longtime XYZ-favorite returns to the fold... Greece's DSF delivers one of the finest remixes we've ever released on the label. Perfect percussion ignites the rhythm, while prolific piano chords melt the mild; a track that is sure to take summer dancefloors by storm.

On the flip, Berlin's Paons lays into the groove, with swirling synth-lines offering late night tones. At stages throughout the arrangement, Stella Moya's vocal performance steeps into psychedelia, as Paons defines a sound on his XYZ debut, rounding out a terrific two-pack of Heridas twists.

This spring saw seasoned XYZ contributor Koelle team up with multi-instrumentalist Reza Safinia on Reverie, a two-sided offering which saw the union of electronic tones and orchestral influences into a dance floor affair. As the fall arrives to Montréal, we're pleased to present our biggest remix compilation to date. 6 artists from the over the broad melodic house & techno spectrum will offer their versions of the tracks over the weeks to come. Here is Vol.1 of the Reverie remixes, featuring Lovecraft, Niki Sadeki and Ian O'Donovan.

Lovecraft takes his time to set the mood on his take of 'Reverie'. Floating chords rest on an arp which keeps on building up until the break. That's when the main hook comes in, carried by a rolling bassline continuously building in energy.

Offering the first remix of ‘Into The Woods' is Niki Sadeki. Her take on the song embraces an upfront arpeggio and a pumping ride cymbal. These core elements offer the backdrop as the arrangement is rounded by chimes, lush pads and counter-melodies.

True to his style that made him a pillar of the label since the early years, Ian O'Donovan goes in with a proper roller of a tune, first establishing a riding hat groove laying on the bass progression. The iconic horn from the original is then unleashed, leading into a break which sees the harmony develop in full effect. O'Donovan finally sprinkles an acid layer to the bass, an exclamation point to the driving track.

The release of award-winning DJ and producer duo Bedouin’s debut album ‘Temple of Dreams’ marked the long-awaited apex of Tamer Malki and Rami Abousabe’s sound and sonic vision, seven years in the making, to be exact. Today, the deep listening experience that showcases the forward-thinking group’s talents as songwriters, lyricists and musicians will evolve once again through the release of two new reworks from the multi-talented DJ, producer and activist LP Giobbi and the prolific house outfit Catz ‘N Dogz.

Reimagining the first track in this remix package is the music industry’s effervescent break-out star LP Giobbi. With a uniquely charismatic sound that has graced every major club, festival and label from Diynamic to Dirtybird, the pair have cemented themselves as a household name in the underground music scene for over two decades, leaving a dazzling impression on global dance floors at large. The duo’s interpretation of Bedouin’s ‘Crazy’ offers an intense auditory dichotomy that couples heavy drums with the aching vocals of Armenian singer and pop star Iveta to create an indelible opus at the intersection of heart-wrenching and heart-thumping.

One of the main Russian electronic labels, Highway Records, celebrates its 15th anniversary! Founded by Mike Spirit in 2008, the label has travelled a long way from the Moscow underground scene to the world's dancefloors, gaining the respect and recognition of the industry's leading players, winning the love from fans of quality music at home and abroad.

Highway has played a significant role in the development of the Russian electronic scene, becoming a home for many talented artists to realise their creative ideas and a platform to promote their music. Year after year the label continues to discover new names and broadcast its own view on electronic dance music, emphasising on quality, not chasing fashion and trends and remaining always up-to-date.
