A while ago, Francesco (Soma Soul) had the chance to visit Canada. He loves to get inspired by cold, rural areas and landscapes. So he  felt like exploring and found that magic place after driving almost 300 kilometers from Banff to Jesper National Park: an amazingly beautiful area. Even though the roads were covered, he got off the car and walked further - and finally was rewarded with a wonderful view of a lake and a waterfall - the Athabasca River!
It is surrounded by beautiful mountains and forests - and Francesco immediately knew that he wanted to capture this moment and honor it with a hint on one of his next EPs. 
It seems like that spark of inspiration lasted until he was back in Switzerland: “back home, I tweaked my prophet6 buttons and created this moving bassline, layered it with the same sound in the higher key and was really happy with how it sounded as he wanted to (re-)create these acoustics or feelings between the mountains of reverberation”.
When Francesco sent the idea to his musical soulmate Ed Begley, he knew that he would be a perfect fit for this one.

First time Lehar was listening to the original version he felt touched by the lyrics and the beautiful voice of the singer.

Italian duo Undercatt immediately fell in love with the original vocal, inspiring, melancholic, the right vibe they usually like to work with. “We did our best to follow it, creating the right atmosphere, a story that builds up to the climax as a sequence of emotions and then comes back, bringing you back to the original status. We imagine the people listening to this on a car trip wandering around, or as an effective closing track for an emotional dj set."

Fayer’s 16th release will be out next 21st May.

Release Info: 
Dutch prodigy Budakid returns to Exploited for his third mesmerising EP on the label, with two fresh new opuses for your delectation. 

‘The End’ is one of his typically cinematic tracks, reminiscent of ‘90s melodic breakbeat types Hybrid. Hovering, Reese-toned bass looms subtly over intricate, light broken beats and gently enveloping string progressions. Crisp and spacious, the arrangement is honed to perfection. Muted, gated stabs echo the ghost of ‘90s trance in the breakdown, fusing beautifully with the breaks when the beat drops back in. Soft cymbal rides splash across the surface as the elements fuse back together for a restrained crescendo. Perfect for the afterhours or a spot of deep meditation.

‘Linguistic’ sees Budakid in more of a deep house / melodic techno mood. Subtle synth licks waft across the stereo field as live percussion forms a groove and wildlife sounds create a heady atmosphere deep in the distance. A plodding  groovy bassline drives its way into the foreground, while minimialist layers of electronics build the mood. The brain-twisting breakdown makes more great use of noise gating as a dizzying lead soars and pulses. It’s a great piece of work that centres more on mood and texture than melody, and in doing so recalls classic progressive house sounds.

We welcome him on Einmusika together with Audio Junkies. “A Major Minor“ comes with a clear groove and a dreamy and hooky key stabs. The melody is warm and uplifting combined with metallic parts, which guide you through the whole song. The basic theme has it’s peak in a reduced break full of magic. D-Nox & Beckers delivered a trembling remix which is remarkable from the first bar. It is bringing the summer nights back into our clubs. The B-Side is “Nobility of Time“ which leads into a shaky production with a big soundscape in the back and decent voice progression.

Huminal have made quite an impression on Proton Music. Returning, “Life Lantern” sees a glorious original twinned with remixes from Croatian and Russian talents.

Award winning producers with an ear for lush harmonic melodies and glorious rolling rhythms, Paul Deetman and Jelle Jansen have commanded attention with a rich aural tapestry that characterises their work as Huminal. Hailing from Amsterdam, the Dutch duo have been regulars on both Proton Music and Particles with an array of original material which began with 2014’s “Acrophobia” and 2015’s “Pocket Universe”, before the Huminal sound graduated onto the flagship imprint with a trio of outstanding EPs. “Knocking on the Sky”, “We Dwell in the Past” and “Macropsia” spanned a three-year period between 2015 and 2018 as the duo now return with “Life Lantern”, a beautifully crafted antidote to 2020’s defining global anxiety. Redolent in soaring analogue motifs that bristle with joyous energy, a rasping bassline provides the perfect counterpoint to the melodic phrasing. Evolving elegantly, filtered arpeggios and glissando lead create a joie de vivre that explodes in the third movement.

Croatian star, Petar Dundov, has been central to the melodic techno sound for a number of years. Operating out of his incredible Zagreb studio – the envy of every right-minded electronic music producer – Dundov’s unique approach and immaculate sound design has seen the master craftsman feature on an array of blue-chip imprints that includes Steyoyoke, Bedrock and Cocoon. An ethos that combines the primal urge to move to hypnotic rhythms while the brain interprets complex melodic patterns, has seen the Croatian perform across the world at the “I Love Techno” and “EXIT” festivals alongside the more intimate settings of Tokyo’s Womb and Belin’s uber-cool Berghain. Making his Proton Music debut in June 2019 remixing Simos Tagias, Petar Dundov returns with a magical interpretation of “Life Lantern” that builds on the central melodic themes inherent in the original, extending them with hypnotic precision through delicately evolving and spellbinding arpeggiated motif that shimmers and ripples alongside elements from Huminal’s sonic architecture. Combined with a driving kick, off-beat hi-hats and textured pads, the result is a stunning return.

Anton Make is another name that requires little in the way of introduction. Originally from St Petersburg but now based in Kazan on the banks of the Volga, Anton has been at the vanguard of the underground progressive house sound with his combination of “deep house, tech and tribal music”. With a double century of production credits under his belt since debuts for Mistique Music and OLD SQL in 2012, the Russian has found his way on to such esteemed labels as Mango Alley, JOOF and Replug. February 2019 saw the “Aquamarine” EP on Particles before the five-track “Bulletproof” hit Proton Music in July 2020. A debut remix now sees Anton Make create a wonderfully rhythmic offering that builds in impressive fashion. Using Huminal’s central melodic themes as a starting point, new motifs emerge in intelligent fashion while rooted in the effervescent melodic spirit of the original. A loquacious vocal cut adds further depth while new motifs continue to develop in the hypnotic third movement.

Original music from Huminal plus remixes from Petar Dundov and Anton Make provide a warm glow of humanity around “Life Lantern”.
