Thomass Jackson 'The Affair' ep / PP004 (low res)

Seattle's @kidsimpledubs caught our ears in the application process for the 2013 Red Bull Music Academy with his intricate, free-flowing layering of melancholic sound textures. With a sonic vision already fully formed early on in his career, the producer continues to add to his template on his new release for @hush-hush-records.

The <i>Silo Tear</i> EP is arguably Kid Smpl's most palpable effort yet. Apparent on the title track, which we are happy to premiere, the producer weaves in more abrasive rhythmical and textural elements than what we've heard from him thus far. Washes of noise add to the dramatic feel introduced by somber synths and sorrowful vocal samples, drawing connections to the work of Burial just as they to do that of fellow NYC Academy grad Evian Christ. Do yourself a favour and listen to this now.

<i>Silo Tear</i> is out on May 5th via Hush Hush.

➤ Release Info:
Knautic's debut on Random Collective is two original tracks of the highest originality. Dark tinges, laced with a quirky edge and shuffle, and a contemplative patience about them. Every last detail has been put and placed with intent, to be appreciated for eternity. 
Remixing these beauties was a tall order. So we enlisted 2 capable parties, Random's own Funka picked up the pace straight to the mid tempo dance floor with a driving bass line and colourful use of the original samples, spoiler, there's a killer jazzy breakdown. 
Finally Kusht came in heavy, with an absolute smashing remix of Redemption. Its a trip, it hits hard, right where the club crew like it.

Italy's Mushrooms Project are now entering the realms of nu-disco veterans, having treated nu-disco enthusiasts to a huge array of psychedelic grooves since back in 2009. Here they continue their obsession with the dark, twisted and mysterious, dropping a trio of decidedly cosmic jams. The kaleidoscopic, clandestine grooves and fuzzy guitars of the delay-laden "Yesss!" set the tone, before "Wonky" delivers a full-strength slab of cowbell-laden cosmic disco fuzziness - all dark Italo synths, woozy melodies and saucer-eyed percussion. The title track goes even further, building the action around off-kilter psychedelic rock riffs and relentless, Alan Parsons Project style synths. Like fine sake, Mushrooms Project just get better with age.
