Parsifal's music is strongly influenced by a mixture of organic moods and textures, Japan's traditional Taiko percussion and both vintage and modern synthesisers all surrounded by a cinematic ambience. With this fine new three track EP Parsifal merges genres, ethnic rhythms and jazz chords to create a unique energy that is perfectly balanced for the dance floor and the home listener alike. Solomun, Tale of Us and Âme have spun Parsifal tracks and these new ones will likely get the same attention. 
Fantastic first track ’Signs Of Light’ revolves between ethnic guitars and simple and powerful lead melodies surrounded by a deep bass and drum backbone. ’Ipnosi’ takes its name from the Italian for ‘Hypnosis’ and invites the listener into a particular ambience where a solid groove supports a never ending arpeggio. It absorbingly leads to an impressive drop after a dreamy break that will wake and shake the club in subtle ways. 
Lastly, the excellent ’In Volo’ is a fusion of different styles with strong rhythm and bass supporting the catchy melodies until the break where piano chords prepare the listener for an epic synth solo. It's another majestic, journeying track that moves you in many ways. 
The production here is precise, powerful and moving from start to finish.

On the occasion of the sixth Record Store Day in April, Sonar Kollektiv releases for the first time a limited 300 copy special edition in celebration of the day, the vinyl and the record store. And it wouldn't be Sonar Kollektiv wouldn't we be treated with a very special goodie: 
The new shooting stars and new signings of the label,  Paskal & Urban Absolutes took a classic out of the extensive repertoire of the label to task, “That Night“ by Jazzanova from 2001. 

As usual with a remix by  Paskal & Urban Absolutes the vocals of the track are not short-changed after the revision. With a voice like the one of Vikter Duplaix you can't do wrong anyway. On the other hand,  Alexander Kastner and Adrian Hoffmann built such a safe bet of a 2013 sounding deephouse cracker that you get subsequently a dub version of it on the flipside. You can call it a win-win situation for everybody. Hopefully especially for the Record Store Day 2013 though!

Record Store Day: Jazzanova - That Night (Paskal & Urban Absolutes Dub) SNIPPET

On April, 20th the sixth Record Store Day will take place. Sonar Kollektiv has two very special goodies in store: There's the limited 300 copies 12inch of the Paskal & Urban Absolutes remix for Jazzanova's “That Night”. 

The other goodie is a reinterpretation of Terry Callier's “900 Miles” from 1968 by FETSUM. In honor of the soulfolk singer/songwriter, who sadly passed away in late 2012, the new stunning soul voice of Germany covers one of his all time favorite songs. A brave move which succeeded fairly and fittingly pays tribute to one of the most talentend musicians of our times.

Sonar Kollektiv A&R manager Alex Barck is also a huge fan of Terry Callier. After he recently has remixed FETSUM's “Letters From Damascus” so brilliantly it's a logical step to have him step in and turn FETSUM's cover into a club track. It's astonishing how Barck pushes the groove towards South America and still leaves air to breathe for FETSUM's voice .

Matt Karmil is less known as a remixer, but more as a versatile songwriter and producer. For instance he has produced Cee Lo Green, Neneh Cherry and Youssou n'dour. The fact that he now found some time to give an existing track his very personal note is Sonar Kollektiv's achievement and our luck. His delivery would even shine in the portfolio of, let's say DJ Shadow or Geoff Barrow. An outrageous attempt.
