Producers are the backbone of any label; developing supportive and genuine relationships with our artists is the core principle of XYZ's development. Our Oppo series is an ode to the figures that we feel are at the foundation of the label's journey thus far.

Emotional Tourist has cemented himself as a pillar of XYZ’s artistic direction over the last two years. The Romanian first caught the ear via an rhythmically groovy remix of DSF, and last year’s The Day The World Meets You showcased the Emotional Tourist sound in its finest forms.

Oppo gives full creative control to the producer, who essentially functions as the label head on the project. Curating sounds from artists around the world who've influenced his journey thus far, as well as a pristine production of his own, Emotional Tourist presents a project that fully represents his tastes as an artist.

Emotional Tourist sets the standard on the A1 with Alchimie De L’Univers. A warm & housey bassline meets swirling percussions in the early stages, as a breakbeat carries the groove into undeniably heady territory and Ondin’s wistful vocal work brings a franco-edge to the break.

For over five years, All Day I Dream has been where deep and emotive meet House music. Propelled by a community of forward thinking artists drawn around the scion of master curator and sunset/sunrise set specialist, Lee Burridge.

They now welcome Lost Desert to the label with the release of Lingala, a two-track collaborative effort with Burridge himself, that also features Junior on vocals. Lost Desert was picked out of obscurity after Burridge discovered his music while trekking in a remote area of a long lost land. A fast forged friendship inevitably lead to the studio, and Lingala’s the enrapturing sophomore result. 

Lingala, is a beautifully composed ten-minute sonic journey. Our Debut Transmission is Gorje Hewek & Izhevski’s interpretation of Lingala is a markedly different affair. Focussing on musical layers rather than the vocal the duo’s  signature spacey atmospheres and minimal rhythmic percussion add extra strings creating uplifting moments that contrast the original’s mood.

Exclusive Armen Miran 'For Eternity (Love Over Entropy Remix)'

Armen Miran's sound heads from LA to Europe and conquers the scene in no time. 'For Eternity' is Miran's latest installment and provides everything for a pure listening experience. The EP kicks off with the original version of 'For Eternity' that easily crosses the boundaries between folk elements and House music in combination with an almost sacred choir sample. French producers Birds of Mind contribute a remix that emphasizes on the downtempo aspect and turns the original into an almost chopped version that highlights the folk and choir elements. A last remix comes from Dutch producer of the moment Love Over Entropy who concentrates on the crunchiness of the baseline but uses warmer synthchords that perfectly harmonize with the guitar from the original while also adding some spooky minimalistic sound samples. The EP's second track 'Save My Soul' is an upcoming storm of an folk influenced tune not restraining an oriental flute and oud. Unders' Britta Arnold's and Budakid's remix not only adds some pace to the original but also hope in form of pending synths and reduced folk elements mainly focussing on the oud from the original that drills into one's head.

'For Eternity' is out on Underyourskin Records on February 24th.

Having given us a sweet lil teaser via remixing Yoram on the uplifting Nocturne, Modd continues to dig deeper into his explorations of house, taking us on a journey with his debut EP for Crossfrontier Audio, the Mensarda EP.

Being the relatively new guy on the scene, doesn’t mean much with Modd, having placed himself in a valuable position after releasing music on labels such as Anjunadeep & Kindisch, his productions are a breadth apart from most, favouring the euphoric and hazy washes of electronic music… each piece is a lull to another world.

With the Mensarda EP we’re given two original and all new tracks to boom out on those hot summer days where moments are magic: Mensarda and Kioki. Choose your poison wisely then, from the slow dripping tribal infused Mensarda that oozes warm tones, to the heightening Kioki where upbeat and vibrant undertones play melancholy with the rhythm.

There is a distinct vibe that Modd’s music provides, that we certainly are attached to, and it’s clear there is plenty more to come from the young upstart, so when these drop, we know there will be some blissful times on the dancefloor…

The Mensarda EP is in all good stores on the 19th June, via Crossfrontier Audio."

The compilation opens with the original and instrumental mixes of Tim Engelhardt's and Lazarusman’s eccentric vocal-house track ‘This Life’. Moving from rhythmic claps for swirling synths, next up is Enamour's ‘Ruby’. First heard in the ABGT300 Deep Set, ‘Ruby’ marks an immense label debut for the American producer. Next, David Hohme & Dustin Nantais combine for 'Onward Only’ - a sweet vocal-led track of swelling synths.
