Sol Selectas presents the first solo EP from Israeli artist Laroz, who has previously been featured on the Summer Sol compilation series. 

Laroz's genuine passion for African music inspired this EP, which is a fusion of traditional ethnic rhythms and organic house beats.  “Miombo” refers to the woodlands which covers several portions of the South-Central African Plateau, and the enchanting vocals naturally combine with the raw electronic groove. 

“Laganga” features the amazing vocals of Faytinga, an Eritrean artist. The deep house chords marry perfectly with her emotional vocals, and we can feel the passion of both artists transmitted through the song. 

For the remix of “Miombo” we welcome Sam Shure from Berlin for his first time on the label. Sam delivers a peak time afro tech gem, focusing his sites on the tribal drums, creating a mind-blowing rendition complete with a breakdown which is pure psychedelic madness. 

On “Laganga”, we invited our dear friend Rodrigo Gallardo (formerly of Matanza) from Chile, to remix this heart opening tune. Rodrigo delivers a gorgeous downtempo interpretation, skillfully finessing the vocals of Faytinga, adding a live marimba groove, and as well some subtle modular effects. His remix maintains all the emotion and and beauty of the original, and rounds out the release package nicely with a soothing alternative for listeners to enjoy. 

The artwork by Helia Jamali is a union of the lush African nature and the cultural creativity of its beautiful people.

Mekong is a energetic tribalistic heater that is bossy from the start. Subtle driven stabs create a melody suitable for any dance floor. With enough tech to keep it groovin’, Los Cabra sustains a continuous build and release. All derived from layers of elements which, without a doubt, will attract your attention and make it easy to dance till the very end.

Our very own Noraj Cue brings a remix that is compelling, seductive, yet still raw at the same time. The right balance of build and progression keeps your head and body in motion. Seasoned with sounds from the original in combination with some timed randomness will maintain a steady development throughout. We always love Jaron's touch.

Futaleufu, a Mapudungun word meaning ‘Big River,’ starts with a driving kick that channels into a dark, rolling bassline. Elements of techno, and tribal percussion paves the way to this stream of mysteriousness and hypnotic spirit. This is what we’ve been waiting for. Give in.

And to top of the ep, Britta’s remix is a deep fusion of techno and grindy house with a sprinkle of acid. Her intricate layers of drum elements play perfectly off each other to provide an ‘elefante’ und elegante taste of minimal tech, that signature sound you and I so dearly love to hear from this Katerblau resident. Meoooow!

KOMPAKT welcomes back three dear friends – Copenhagen’s WhoMadeWho. Tomas Barfod’s penchant for electronic music poetically juxtaposed with Tomas Høffding and Jeppe Kjellberg’s respective backgrounds in rock and jazz, gives their music an electrifying combination of sounds, merging a variety of influences to produce a unique sonic fingerprint that is emotive, irresistible and immensely satisfying.

Though we both have yet to strike a note together since the release of their 2012 full length “Brighter” (KOM 254), WhoMadeWho have been remarkably productive. With two full lengths, a DJ mix for Watergate’s series and releasing two of 2019’s most played out club tracks together with Rampa (Innervisions) and Artbat (Watergate Records), the trio have found themselves diving more and more into the world of electronic music, tapping into their goldmine of connections within the scene to spearhead an array of collaborations.

The result is Synchronicity – a full length album to be released on November 13th.

The final chapter of our EP series is “Synchronicity III” – Kompakt’s fearless leader Michael Mayer joins forces with the trio to produce an outlandishly catchy house excursion. A throbbingly sexy groove twists around a nonsensically fun robo-disco vocal. Terr makes serious waves these days – from her exceptional releases on Phantasy, Correspondant, Permanent Vacation to released and operating own imprint Clash Lion they come up with “Falling Out” – an exclusive to this EP. This is the ultimate duet – her vocals harmonise with the band under flow with the perfect rhythm and beat of disco-fied refinement. Next up is Rebolledo – Mexico’s ambassador of dance floor devotion and one half of the legendary Pachanga Boys. A dear friend to the house of Kompakt. “Chaser” fuels those travellers of the night – a soundtrack for another dimension. Last but not least, fans will rejoice as Adana Twins return with a second collaboration together with the band. The clang of the cowbell is clear as a twisted guitar twangs to an ominous 4/4 rhythm.
